The last few years our dental cleanings have been paid by our insurance company. The last YEAR our dental bills have been inflated. The additional charges we incured without our knowledge such as the following: $386. invoiced for: (4) charges-Gingivitis irrigations at $74.00 each = $296. + periodic oral screening $37., periodic oral evaluation $33. + periodic first radiographs image $20. = Total charges $386.00. The week before this cleaning, I went to dental office and asked receptionist to make a note on our file "not to add any additional CHARGES that were not paid for by our insurance company". After receiving bill, went to office & was told it had NOT been added to file & she mentioned "as you see employees were no longer There. I don't believe in inflating customer bills without their acceptance of procedure & pricing. NOT HAPPY! read more

They're after insurance money, not patient care! I had a terrible experience at Dental Works. Mostly on the finances and insurance part. I called before hand and talked to them to make sure they are in network. I'm told my procedures are fully covered by my insurance multiple times. The day of the procedure comes, at checkout, they ask for more money than the original amount quoted. Confused, I kept going back and forth with the manager that ended up getting on the phone with my insurance to prove me wrong. I simply wanted an explanation because none of it made sense: the procedure vs the diagnosis codes & charge codes. After a lengthy back-and-forth, based on what the insurance says the manager decides I owe $90 for the procedure. Yet, they still charged me over $160. This is an hour of going back and forth and they still charged me what they wanted to charge me. Then, they claim they can't refund me right away and have to wait for insurance to pay first--spoiler: I never saw a refund. Instead, I received a bill for even more money on two procedures that were supposedly fully covered by my insurance. It's clear they're more interested in milking insurance than providing honest patient care. Disappointed is an understatement. Avoid this place at all costs. read more

The only reason I am giving this place 4 stars and not 5 is simply because they are very polite and personable on the hygienist side. I actually dont think I ever had such great conversations with a hygienist (Kostace) while getting X-rays before, and the doctor is very nice as well (I'm not gonna try to spell his name..Dr. H) and professional as well but when I tell you I've NEVER had ANY major tooth pains except for leaving here.... I came in with sensitivities due to my front tooth and now my entire face is swollen and in so much pain since the day I got my root canal.... I've heard of root canals being pretty painful but even the doctor told me it was before my root canal got bad so it shouldn't be hurting like this.... Clearly felt wrong... how do I go in feeling basically fine... yes I had some sensitivities but absolutely nothing like this.... I usually always love coming to the dentist...my teeth are FAR from "needing help" this was my first root canal and my history of cavities are low. I understood his point that the pain could get worse that's why I went through with it... feeling like I didn't have another choice it was either stay with the discomfort and it get worse or make it "better" by having this root canal now for the $900+ dollars. The point was although very informative I felt lost, maybe I should've asked more questions initially... because once I spoke to Kostace he was very informative and made me feel better about knowing what was happening to me and also Dr. Hanson (gave the spelling a try) let me know that it was just basically my healing process was taking a toll. Previous to coming in I called and the office women (who are extremely unpleasant on the phone) i'm not aware who I spoke to but they told me basically "you're fine" and as of yesterday (now two days after) my face is swollen, I cant say any "T" or "f" words, eating doesn't exist, drinking anything no matter the temperature is like a punch to the face. I called again and they made an appointment for today...what I do appreciate is the young lady upon walk in is very nice in a coy kind of way....she felt genuinely sympathetic to my pain. Kostace waved at me and tried to help as well. Today when I was called back I saw a smaller lady with glasses, she seemed impatient but kept repeating "I dont want to hurt you"/"I'm not trying to hurt you" so I appreciate her although the pain was/is REAL. What was what I felt going to be the worst experience at a dentist ended up being quite pleasant I'm usually a joyful, excited almost giddy person coming in to the dentist and now....I was not only dreading having to be there but terrified of how much they were going to poke and prod. Luckily the dentist was careful and tried his best to be able to identify the issue but also know that I was in pain. I left today feeling worse because of the poking but hopeful for this pain to go away. Like I said earlier in this review I have a lot of dental hygienist and dentist friends so I know when it sounds like something I actually recognize hearing about versus bs that they just feed you and Dr. Henson was very knowledgeable about the issue and reassured me that it was going to be OK and I have high hopes that it won't be easy but I will be OK and won't have this pain repeat (as long as I dont have another root canal) All in all the office is clean and doesn't look off-putting by any means. It's very pleasant to look at and I enjoy the little tooth plant by the window. The staff is generally very sweet, there just seems to be a woman who makes phone calls with an attitude. So if your initial introduction to this practice is a phone call then take it by a grain of salt because when you go in it'll be a different experience completely. I think I actually have my finger on who it is that makes the phone calls but I haven't spoken to her enough to be sure, she just checked me out of my appointment the first visit. 1: when my partial was ordered, the manager did not follow the standard practice to inform me about my copay as the ex manager did it every time. She made her own decision for me ( without telling) to choose the material which the insurance wouldn't cover. After I found it out, she said 'better material.' 2: ridiculously when I put on my new partial to eat first meal, pizza. One tooth broke off from the partial. I returned it to them for refund. 3: the manager refunded me $221 less than I paid. In fact, on March 21 11:45 am this year when asked about my balance, she checked and said 'you owed 0.' This place scams you!! Dot go here. I just got insurance and I asked to go in for a regular cleaning, whatever insurance would cover so I wouldn't have to pay anything. They messed up and I got hit with a $2,200 bill. They told me it was my fault. After reading other reviews I should NEVER have gone here. sounds like other people got scammed as well. read more

Fabulous office. I have been having weird issues with my insurance company, resulting in me not having been to the dentist for a full year and now I've got several issues with my teeth. Dr. Hansen (he told me to call him Richard, what a cool guy) was the most friendly, helpful dentist I have EVER been to. I'm pretty young and have found that a lot of doctors can be very patronizing to younger patients, but not with Dr. Hansen or any of the employees I spoke to. They are, however, VERY informative and answered every question I had under the sun. I had to drive 50 minutes to get there (I live in NC) because they're the closest provider that takes my insurance, but even when I get new insurance and can go to someone closer I will still return to this office. Karen, Rose, and the front office guy (his name escapes me!) are the bomb, super organized AND they sorted out everything with my insurance even though there were some technical difficulties. Tiffany (she took my x-rays and did my cleaning) was incredibly knowledgeable and has a great sense of humor. I read some negative reviews from a few years ago and got nervous before I went in, but I think that they've gotten new staff or those reviews weren't legit, because I can't believe that was the same office. I wish I could give them more than five stars, I am more than satisfied with this office and excited to have found a dentist that I don't mind going to (even if the drive sucks)! read more

Went in for dental work, their very overpriced. They try to scam you into getting a package that will save you percentage off dental work, but when you take off the percentage it's pretty much the price anywhere else. Nowadays you can't find good honest people. I'll never recommend this office. read more

I had fixed an appointment with them for a root canal and crown. I went in on time for the appointment and checked with the nurse if it would be ok if I did not go through with it and that I won't be charged and I was told no and not to worry. I go back to work and the office manager calls and says he has to charge me for a no show as he is running "a business" I will not recommend this "company" to anyone. read more

If i could continue to go to this dentist and not have to deal with the people at the front desk I would gladly return but alas I can not do that. I call the schedule a cleaning but when i got there they only wanted to do the x-rays. I had to reschedule for a cleaning and then the day I showed up the dentist wasn't even there. Sat down to discuss some cavities that needed to be filled arranged dates and was given a break down of the pricing after they talked with my insurance. After it was all said and done they basically lied to me about the cost leaving me with a HUGE bill to pay out of pocket. Again this is no reflection of the actual dentist or the hygienists they were great and there was absolutely no pain after my fillings, but they do need better office staff. read more

The only reason I am giving this office 2 stars instead of 1 star is because the Hygenist and Dentist were nice. The real problem lies in the front office, specifically with the office manager. I went multiple times and finally decided to give up and take my business elsewhere. Frank, the manager, sincerely lacks the professionalism to run this office. As a patient, I felt he was condescending and he seemed irritated or annoyed at the prospect of helping patients understand treatment and schedule appointments. Add this to the errors in scheduling and sarcastic remarks and he becomes downright intolerable. If he doesn't want to deal with patients, he should find a new job. Meanwhile, this office should find a new manager before he ruins their practice altogether. read more

RADIATION MISHAP! PRIVATE INFORMATION WITHHELD! STAY FAR FAR AWAY!!! Made an appoint for 9am on 9/24. At the front desk I'm greeted by Frank who tells me that Dental Works offers an optional $61 oral cancer screening but my insurance wouldn't pay for it. After handing in the paper work I'm called to the front desk by a woman asking about the cancer screening. I declined. She responded OK we will do it on your next visit. I'm a bit surprised. She asked me to sign stating that I refused but would do it the next time around. I responded I would prefer to decline the extra service completely. The woman seemed taken back that I did not want the service at all. As if it wasn't an option to decline. As if her actions would some how guilt me into taking the service. Then I was called back for X-rays. As the woman began the X-rays it was clear that she was inexperienced. After bruising my entire mouth readjusting the device she left the device in a position for 10-15 photos and finally admitted that the X-ray machine stopped working. It was shooting radiation but not taking the picture. She went to her superior to look into it but her superior gave her the "sink or swim" response or call IT if you can't figure it out. At this point I'm like what the heck is going on here. IT comes (Frank the exact same dude that gave me my paperwork from the front desk) and without fixing a single thing he says "Just try it again." I'm sorry, this woman has been for the last 10 minutes shooting radiation in the exact same spot of my mouth with this huge radiation gun pointed right at my face unsuccessfully and the IT guy without fixing anything just decides that trying yet again would somehow magically resolve the issue??!?! I politely asked them if there was a way to fix the machine without using me to test it I would appreicate it. The IT guy minimalized my concerns saying the radiation was minimal even though he just walked into the room hadn't done a thing and had no idea how many shots of radiation the woman took. He then instructed the woman to operate the equipment on me even after I said I was not comfortable with them doing so. After being ignored I asked to have the equipment removed so I could leave. If as a customer I state I do not want RADIATION shot at my face continuously while your using me as a crash test dummy to fix your equipment I should not be forced to do so! I went to the front desk, asked for my paperwork back because my Social Security number, Date of Birth and Drivers License were on it. Frank (IT guy/Front Desk guy) responded with these exact words. "Your private information belongs to us now." Wow... really guy? Like seriously? So then I told him I wanted to pay so I could leave. I was told no payment was due. I will be contacting a lawyer for this issue. read more

I haven't been to a dentist in years because i haven't been insured. I recently got BCBS and so I made a dental appointment. Anyway, it's a cute little waiting area-quiet, but not awkward. The people at the front desk are so nice! Carrie did my X-rays and she was so easy to talk to and sweet that I didn't even mind the pain of the X-rays lol. Lisa was my hygienist and she was super cool as well. I ran into a billing issue and Brett did everything he could to help me out. Dr. Hansen is kind of awkward but he's probably just a really busy guy. Will definitely recommend to everyone! read more

Way over priced and the office staff does not give prices unless you ask multiple times.

Front desk people are incredibly rude. Had billings issues, and they wouldn't even help just became very defensive. Makes it obvious they have constant billing issues. My husband and I were both "scheduled" for appointments we didn't ask for, so ended up with a $25 missed appointment fee. The first and only time I went I felt I was in a commission retail environment constantly trying to upsell you for unneeded procedures. My husband was charged for a procedure he didn't even have done. It is obvious this is a large chain business that business that doesn't care for the patient, only how many procedures they can sell you on. read more
