This was a great find right off the freeway. We were just passing through and needed a place to get the pups wiggles out. And this did the trick. Three dog areas with lots of space to run. Bring your own water and poop bags they were out of both. Lots of friends to meet and play with. read more

I stayed in Omaha for a night on my way to Texas with my energetic dog. I used Yelp to find this park and he loved it. I'm from Fargo and it's very flat, so I think this was the first time he'd ever raced up and down a hill! He enjoyed it so much we stopped on our way back home as well. My dogs always get excited as we approach Hanscom Park dog park. They've been here so often, they could probably walk there themselves. It's a large park with three different sections; one of the sections is always closed for renovation. Because so many people use the park the grass wears out. So they take turns using different sections. One of the three sections that's open is always for small dogs and the other one is for large dogs. However, many people bring their small dogs into the large dog area. It's on quite a slope so everybody goes down the hill to the flatter area. There are picnic tables and trees for shade. Dog duty bags are available, but many people bring their own. There's also a water faucet during warm weather, and many people bring water bowls. It gets turned off in winter. As with most dog parks, they discourage dogs who are aggressive from being there off leash. On the best weather days it can get kind of crowded, but it's big enough to accommodate everybody. It's especially fun to visit with other people about their dogs. The dogs race with joyous abandon which is a treat to watch. So if you're looking for a great place to take your dog give this park a try. read more

My first time ever going to a dog park and I enjoyed it I did see two time dogs fighting but for me it's natural that some dogs would just not get along .. I have two Doberman puppies and one mix pitbull and they were acting accordingly... I do recommend if you have a delicate pup dog ti but some pepper spray at any pet store .. read more

A few more visits in, I feel like I am getting the hang of this dog park. Three fenced areas: 1. Small dogs 2. All dogs 3. All dogs All have trash cans for poop, water fountains at the entrance, and poop bags (if available-sometimes needs refilling. everyone I have met, including myself, bring our own). There is a gradual downhill starting from the top at all three gates, and they slope down to a flatter area where most of the dogs are playing. These hills are no joke in the winter. I have almost slipped on ice a few times descending down to the play area, so please be careful! Wear proper shoes in the winter or you'll slip and slide- risking injury. Also dress warmly, this area can catch the windchill we are so famous for in the winter, so dont risk getting sick or freezing to death. Picnic benches are here for owners if they want, and trees, which I assume would provide a nice shade in the spring and summer (it's currently winter so I have no idea). Parking, still the same situation I mentioned in my previous review. A lot with about 7 stalls, and a lot of people parking on the street (an already narrow path for cars trying to make it through the park). Everyone I have met so far here is very nice. There are of course, a few inattentive owners that just sit on the bench and play on their phone, but most people seem to be paying attention to the dogs and how they are playing. I swear you have to keep your eyes on them the whole time, because if you're wondering who that inconsiderate person that "didnt pick up his/her dog's poop", it's you! There have been plenty time my attention was caught in conversation or looking at other dogs play that I almost missed my dog's squat. There are plenty of regulars here, and since I have started coming in the winter, you can really see the dedication of many Omaha dog owners. Can't wait to make more friends for both me and my pup. read more

Outside the park there is a big long list of rules that you should probably read. It appears that many people don't. While I'd say you should follow every rule, I feel a few are more important than others: If it's a first time visit, go during off-peak hours so you can see how your dog behaves No puppies under 4 months (keep them safe, especially if they're not up-to-date on vaccinations) Pick up after your dog Refrain from smoking You're responsible for what your dog does. My lab puppy has just come of dog park-going age, and I begin any potential venture by casing the joint first. Since he's on the little dog/big dog cusp, I go to the small dog park if there aren't any elderly small dogs (he gets too rough and/or annoying), and the big or all dog section if the big dogs there aren't too rough/annoying. A couple of times the big dogs have descended on him like a pack of jackals (FU, inattentive dog parents!) and other times he's been able to play with friendly big dogs. In the jackal scenario, we leave. In the friendly scenario, of course we stay because the friendly dogs usually have friendly people with them. I have met far more good people than shit heels. But shit heels have dogs too, so whatever. It is great that they have separate sections for different sized dogs. Like I said, you can bring an of-age puppy to the little dog section if s/he's not ready to tussle with the big kids, but don't be a jerk and let the pup torment senior toy dogs. I haven't seen much poop lying around like past reviewers, but it definitely gets muddy there after wet weather, so be careful walking down that hill, and maybe stay on the grassy area for playtime. Love this dog park! It is one of my favorite in Omaha. We take our dog here almost every single weekend. The other dog owners are always really friendly, and everyone has very good dog watching etiquette. If you are visiting the park after Labor Day- Be sure to bring water for your pup. They turn off the faucet's after Labor Day. I also love that they have a small dog area, and two all dog areas. Best of all, the park is well-maintained, shaded, and there are seats in each area. The Dog Park has plenty of shade during a hot summer day. There are multiple compartments for different sizes of dogs. The reason I did not give this location five stars currently the water for the dogs is turned off however the other dog park in Omaha that I go to does have the water on. I will probably contact the mayor to request the water be turned on. read more

I love how it is divided into areas for small, big, and all dogs. They also offer water, trash cans, bag for potty, almost everything. It is nice outside and the grass also makes it easier for my puppy to run around. He loves it! I've found no better place to take my dog. It's in my neighborhood and it's beautiful. An oasis of lush green trees in the heart of the metro. Rolling hills make for an excellent workout for your favorite canine. My girl Stella is always exhausted after a run at Hanscom. There are 3 fenced areas, with a small dog section for the little ones. The real challenge is the dog owners. Some people know how to socialize there dog. And the. Some people open the gate and let their unsocialized dog run amuck and terrorize other animals. This is an inevitability. The truck is to be mindful and remove your animal from potentially dangerous situations. That being said, the city does a great job of keeping this a clean, well groomed, and flea free zone. So enjoy your time with your canine - they will thank you for the opportunity. read more

I love, love, love this park! I have two dogs, a lab/boxer mix and a chihuahua, and I love to take them to dog parks. I have been to others in Omaha, and have not been satisfied. Hanscom is by far the best in town. It has a small dog area, and an all dog area. The space is huge. There are also several picnic tables for pet parents. I also love all of the shade. At other parks, your dog is basically running in an open field. At Hanscom they have lots of hills and tree's to run around. There are also plenty or waste stations to clean up after your dog. The pet parents and their dogs there are also super friendly. I recommend this place 100%! read more

I love, love, LOVE this dog park. Seriously the best place my pups have ever played. There are 3 areas: small dogs, All Dog 1, and All Dog 2. They alternate having dogs in areas 1 and 2, by the year, so that they can reseed and get some grass grown so your dogs won't be playing in just mud. As a pet parent, you will get a workout, as there is a humongous hill. If you are out of shape, it will feel like Everest. If you are in shape, it will feel like Kilimanjaro. But it tuckers all of the dogs out, which is exactly the goal! In general, the pet owners there are really great. Respectful, helpful, laid-back. Everything you could ask for! Occasionally there will be some twiddlestick on a conference call, paying zero attention to his dog as the dog terrorizes others, but the patrons of this park really look out for one another and will help to keep Rogue Dogs in check. A PSA for anyone bringing your dog to any dog park, anywhere: if your dog is causing problems, after one or two corrections, please leave! Parks should be safe for everyone. read more

This dog park is fab! It's divided into three separate areas. One area for small dogs, one for big dogs, and I'm guessing the last is for all dogs. No one seems to be in that area though. Great crowd too, my pup gets along with all the pups there and the owners are always attentive. I've only heard of a few dogs that have been aggressive in the past and from the sound of it they no longer come to the park. So happy we have Hanscom park! read more

I'd rate this park as just decent. I have a very small dog and he was able to get under the fence which was scary for me. There is a good deal of trash, cigarette butts and also broken glass. I walked around and picked up trash while my dog played. The water fountains don't work so bring your own water. read more

I was pretty happy how clean the place looked, their were plenty of dogs and most of the people that were attending this dog park were very friendly. Everyone picked up after themselves that were here at the time I can't speak for others but as what I could see everyone picked up after themselves. My dog loves all the running he got to do and as well with the other dogs. I recommend this park as it also has a nice walking area where you could walk around the actual park with your dog! read more

I LOVED this park when I first started bringing my dog. However, my last three visits I haven't had the best experiences. One time, my dog caught kennel cough there (don't bring your dog to a park if they're coughing!). Next, my small super friendly Pomeranian almost got trampled from a crazy fight that was breaking out with the bigger dogs (most of the owners weren't doing anything- I was one of the only people to react and protect my dog). Lastly, I stopped going to the all dog area because I now have a puppy as well and I figured it would probably be next to impossible to help both of my dogs if another fight were to break out but the small dog section is nowhere near as nice as the all dog area and was very muddy. read more

This is a great place to take your dog/s for a day of fun. Each dog area is very large, with plenty of shade, well fenced, many picnic tables to relax at while your dogs are running around and playing, and plenty cleaning stations. The park is very well maintained, and everyone we have met there is very friendly. Our dogs love making new friends there, and all the space they have to run around. Actual dog park! Literally two minutes off I 80. We're driving cross country and needed to exercise our fuzzy son. Drive into the park from the entrance on Woolworth St on the north west corner. Can park right near the gate to the fenced in dog area. They have segregated small dog and "all dog" areas. Also, they have two separate areas to rotate and maintain the grass. read more
