Beautiful recreation area to take a walk ride your bike do some fishing or just chill out and enjoy the beauty of nature.

This place is great! Two large fenced areas are divided between large and small breeds. Both have a dog and a human water fountain. There's enough room to walk around the park for exercise, if people desire. There are benches and several trees. If your dog likes water, there is a gate to the lake next to the park which is fenced in with the fence running down to the lake. This allows your dog to go for a swim. It's a really nice park in the middle of Papillon. There is a small amount of parking (4-5 cars) and during my time there, 4 other dogs were in the park. read more

Walnut Creek RA is pretty nice. I enjoy hanging out there. The main reason I go is for the dog park. It's a big dog park, with lots of space to run, and a fence separates the large dog area from the small dog area. Didn't see a water station, but maybe I overlooked it. WCRA is listed as a Lakeside green space with a boat ramp & fishing pier, plus hiking, biking & equestrian trails. I have seen the boat ramp, and seems to be ample parking. There are some trails, but calling them "hiking trails" is a stretch. Walking paths would be more appropriate. The big no swimming sign is strange to me. I'm not from Nebraska, so I'm finding it hard to believe there are so many no swimming areas. Maybe someone can explain this to me. Overall, good to walk around, fish, and I guess boat. Very pretty compared to most of Nebraska, which seems to be deforested. read more

This is a nice recreational park in Papillion off of Schramm Rd and approx 100th Street. It's core is a Lake, so many trails and picnic areas wrap around the lake itself. There are pavilions to bbq and lunch, playgrounds for kids, fishing, trailer park area, and an off leash dog run. The dog run here is the main reason we visit. It's unique in it's landscape, and there is more brush than grass, and mature trees that weave their way around the park as well. Also interestingly there is a mud flat that leads into the lake, so water happy pups can dive right in and take a dip. The trails here are also quite nice for long walks. read more

Beautiful recreation area tucked between 96th and 108th streets just south of 370 in Papillion. This recreation area features a 3 mile cement trail (walk, run, or bike) around the lake. If you are feeling a little more adventurous you can explore some of the grass walking trails, or the mountain bike trails. My only complaint is that I wish the grass trails had a few more cuts to get back on to the cement trail or to the parking lots. Walnut Creek also offers fishing, boat ramps (great for kayaks too), camping, horse trails, and a dog park. Overall, great place to get your outdoors on! read more

I love this area. I have been here for family events, just to walk around and explore and this time that is what I was doing - so cool when I was down by the lake - I turned to take a left and walk along it but stopped because I a blue heron about 30 feet away from me. So much wildlife and a great walking trail. read more

This is an amazing park to bring your family members. We have brought our boxer here twice and she LOVED IT. Both times there were several doge there and they all had a wonderful time together. The park is enormous with plenty of area to run with the pack and play in the lake. Bring your dogs here they will love it! read more

I'm a local, so I'm biased. Love ton run the sidewalk (enough hills to make it hurt but not too many) and especially love to ride the mountain bike trail lovingly installed and maintained by the local group Trails Have Our Respect (T.H.O.R.). Can't speak to the fishing, camping, or the picnic facilities as I don't partake in those activities very often. I'm just saying that Walnut Creek kicks Parairie Queen's booty. read more

If I would have switched my vote when I was a director on the Papio-Missouri River NRD, this recreation area and lake never would have been built. If you have SMALL dogs, I do not suggest taking them to the pet area. Even though there is a newly fenced area for Big dogs that separates them from SMALL dogs, people are not following the posted directions. If someone brings a SMALL dog and a BIG dog, they tend to stay on the SMALL dog side. The people that have BIG dogs cut through the SMALL dog area constantly to get to the BIG dog area even though each has its own separate entrance. We have had BIG dogs charge at our little ones...MAYBE its because they want to play, but not cool for little dogs. We will not go back there. Read the signs and beware of people that don't know how to read or choose to ignore the directions. read more

hi everyone im rocky. i jacked my mom's yelp and am going to take a minute from licking my ding dong to espouse the virtues of taking your dog to walnut creek. i've never been to hefflinger because it's built on a garbage dump. now, i love garbage, but my mom is the one with the drivers license, so ol' rocky boy can sit and spin, i guess. we used to go to hanscom, but it's cramped there and all the girls there are so unbelievably sexy that i forget my manners and act like a real fuckboye. my dad takes me there sometimes still, but my mom is over my male entitlement. anyway, walnut creek is so rad that i start crying once we take the turn off the highway. i can go on walks around the lake with my mom and dad. there's also a dog park where i can swim and run around like an idiot. but maybe i'm not such an idiot cuz i found out that you can swim up the creek and leave the fenced area. so be careful if your dog is a cool houdini like me and you hate fun. my mom sucks. read more

Great park that offers it all! Enormous trail to walk/run/bike. Lake that's large enough for small fishing boats and canoes. Horses allowed. Camping and picnic areas. Fabulous off leash dog park with water for the dogs to play in...and a hose to clean them up after. My only complaint is its pack in/out...so don't count on finding a trash can anywhere. read more

I went here for the first time yesterday for the off leash dog park. It wasn't the easiest place to find but once I did everything was up from there. There are a few trails but I would say it's mostly for swimming. My dog absolutely loved it though! There was a constant flow of dogs in and out. I would suggest not wearing anything you fancy because you will get dirty. The water isn't the cleanest but the dogs don't care. The banks are covered in mud so don't expect to be saving any stray tennis balls. read more

Took our dogs here for the first time today and they absolutely loved it! Everything is gated in different sections so you can pick and choose the most comfortable area for your dog(s).There's an area to hose off your pups when you're done letting them run free in the lake area of the dog park. Friendly people and all the pups got along! We will definitely be returning. read more

Wonderful area for taking a long-ish walk on a nice day. Fairly quiet even though it is right next to hwy 370. There are a few hills, but nothing too terrible. The path is a 5k and the distances are marked along the way. Restroom facilities are kind of scary, but that is standard for a recreation area. read more

I did a drive around of the entire Park but only visited the Dog Area. I liked it and appreciated that there was a water spot tgat only dogs coukd access. No need to worry about boaters or fishermen. I did think that the grass was a little overgrown but appreciated the cut walking paths. My dog and others enjoyed romping through the tall grass chasing each other, balls, and wildlife. read more

This is my favorite close to home place to kayak. I spent several hours here paddling along the reservoir. I was able to paddle where the fishing boats can't get to so there were several places I was the only person in. I saw so much wildlife. This is a great place that inspires my writing and refuels me when I need to slow down and ground myself. I came out here alone Saturday after attempting to go the zoo. EVERY BODY was at the zoo, so I had a peaceful refueling paddle. read more

I stayed at Walnut Creek rv park for a week. I got there on a Mon parked my camper plugged it in and turned on AC. Went to be with my parents who have dementia spent almost every day there. Anyway ac worked great at night. After a few days turned it off because I only used the fan at night. A few nights later it rained. I woke up and my floor was wet and water coming through AC. Mind you my first camper just had it serviced before I left so thought maybe they didn't get it sealed or something. So I cleaned up water and noticed it was coming through my ceiling to. So I called my friend and said will have it checked when I got back to Colorado. Well when I got back he said my refrigeration unit and cover were gone. That's why it leaked in camper. My camper was totaled. My refrigeration system and cover were stolen at the park. Management says they have never had any reports of anything being stolen there. Hmm I said now you do. There was several trucks with storage trailers just parked in guest parking spots for days. Then there gone one day along with my AC. Hmm wonder why there just parked there for days. Beautiful park and a great place to exercise or take your kids/dog too. The people there are so friendly too and you just feel away from the city. The trails are lovely to walk on and enjoy the scenery while the leash-free dog zone is great for your puppy to room in either the path, tall grass, or even swim in the pond! As for the fishing, I have not done that yet. But I do see enough people fishing to assume it's a great place to relax and fish too. Definitely a great park to check out if you have the time too. read more

Great area! Wonderful scenery. They nailed it on the head with the walking trails circling the lake. Realized halfway through that it was a 3 mile loop - so we were stuck with doing some serious walking. We haven't tried the off-leash area yet for dogs, but we're excited to get out there this summer to have our dog swim. Hopefully it won't be a mud pit like some people are saying. read more

I use the facility just for the walking path, so I don't know if the fishing is any good or not. But the path is a nice 5k stroll.

I have been there with my husband for a walk before. We liked the path that we took that's around the lake. There's no hills so it's a nice place for beginners who just started to work out regularly and those who go to the park for a walk. The only thing I wasn't happy about was that you could see houses at some places in the park that made me feel like there's "reality"'right there when I wanted to put myself into a world of mother nature as long as I was in the park. read more

Great park for running/walking/biking. Trail around the lake is almost exactly 5k/3.1 miles. Popular park with walkers and I almost always see at least a couple people fishing on the lake. The associated campground is nice, if a bit sparse. There are also multiple picnic shelters and a playground near the 96th street entrance/parking lot. read more

This park is WONDERFUL for your swimmer dogs! Our dogs loves this place! The off leash area has a trail that you can walk around in and pretty decent size pond with shallow and deeper areas. If you have a swimmer, we have a lab, they won't get too muddy but if you have a dog that doesn't like to get all the way in, my min pin, things can get a lil muddy. There is a water faucet over to the far right of parking by the park benches to rise your pups off. Be sure to bring a little bucket to use and of course a towel! Also, there are bags provided for the poop but haven't seen a garbage yet. All in all great place for the summer! read more

Great for walking dog on horse trails or running a little. I usually take my dogs here and there's a large fenced in dog free run acreage that runs up to a pond on one side with three gates on the other to keep Fito in. If your dogs aren't dog friendly or you want to get out go to the horse trails toward the back of the dirt road and walk them. There wonderful for hunting dogs to get out and chase birds and critters and frolic through the grass. Can be muddy so plan ahead. Good spot for campers but the campsites aren't ideal for tent camping in my opinion. Fishings ok there's a big dock and boat entry too. read more
