I recently had a roof repair done on the soffits of my house. I guess when we closed up the hole there must've been a squirrel roaming around inside my attic. I heard some noises and called my contractor and he's the one that connected me with Hansen's. After texting with Darion, I was worried about the squirrel being up there and trying to get out. He showed up in a couple of hours and was able to set a trap to catch any squirrels that might be hiding out up there. After setting the trap, he left to go work on another job and within 30 minutes we heard a rustling upstairs in the attic. I confirmed that we had a squirrel caught in the trap and he came back right away to remove it from the property. He also set another trap and left it in the attic over the weekend to make sure there weren't any other rodents hiding out in my attic. My pest control company found evidence of rats in our crawlspace and recommended Hansen's. He came to the house as scheduled, and confirmed there was evidence of rat activity and did a quick look, and presented a plan for "critter-proofing" the crawlspace and attic. It was a standard "cookie cutter" plan, putting screen material on all vents and eaves, mainly. I asked if he could tell how the rats were getting in, and he offered a superficial theory and seemed uninterested in specifically diagnosing the problem. Even when I asked him directly if he found evidence to back his theory, he said he didn't really look. The assumption he made is that setting traps for one week after the "repairs" would show if there were any more rats, and then they would do further work. I felt he had no interest in solving the problem. Then, I called another company recommended by a neighbor, and the man came out and quickly (using his eyes and sense of smell) found a hole in the foundation where the rats were getting in and out. It was in a hard-to-reach spot under a porch, which didn't have an access door, but he was able to get to it by removing some boards. His proposal for the crawlspace was similar to Hansen's but included actually fixing the problem (see photos of hole in foundation which Hansen's completely missed). He explained that simply baiting and trapping rats often didn't work if the rats could still get in and out of the space, because they are suspicious of sudden new sources of food; only if they are prevented from getting out (by blocking the hole) would they get hungry enough to take the bait. So, had I gone with Hansen's, the traps probably would not have shown any rat activity and the rat problem would not have been addressed. Plus, the company I went with determined I did not need work on the attic (he actually went on the roof to inspect potential problem areas, which Hansen's did not). Contacted this business to have animal removed from crawlspace. Response and evaluation was quick with estimate given. However estimate was for removal of animal plus critter proofing all of house top to bottom for couple thousand dollars. On contacting business to modify estimate, I didn't need my attic addressed, they dropped communication and response entirely. Not interested in my problem. Pretty poor. read more

Darian is owner of Hansen's Wildlife. I used them to cover some eaves and make some repairs to keep critters out. He arrived and completed the work. I was pleased with the work that was done. This is not work a homeowner pays for often so I have somewhat limited expectations on what the work truly entails but based on what I saw, can see, and what Darian shared with me, I feel the work was completed in a professional manner. Do not bother. Completely unprofessional. After booking an appointment two weeks out (best they could do), the company never showed and never called. And this was after we waited half the day. Then we called and told they had to reschedule. But they never called back. Left a few messages. No response. IF you don't value your time, you like to wait around the house for service that never shows or you want to never hear back from a company, THIS is the company for you!!!
