I took my 3 year old son to koala dental care in Buffalo to see Dr. Rao 2 weeks ago on Friday at…read more2:30 pm & I cannot say 1 good thing about the experience. Upon arrival my son was very anxious about being at the dentist, he began getting fussy. Once back in the clinic, the assistant informed me that x rays were requested at the appointment that day. I informed her that she was welcome to try, however I suggested my son would likely not be compliant. I'm not sure if that was taken as me telling her "no" to the radiographs but a no is clearly what was communicated to the dds. Dr. Rao came over and shamed me for 'not even being willing to try' I informed her what was said and at that point folded my cards and told her go ahead and do the X-rays. I watched as one of the assistants held my son down in a bear hug with her legs wrapped around him while the other assistant jammed bitewing tabs into his mouth. I am a licensed dental assistant who currently practices and I fully understand the importance of radiographic imaging and how they are essential for diagnostic purposes. However, given there were no clinical signs that pointed to concern there was no reason for the staff to use the measures of restraining my child and creating a traumatic first radiograph experience for bitewings that could have been taken at the next visit, once my son gained maturity. The only reason I even agreed to these x rays was the shame dr. Rao placed on me for "not agreeing" to x rays that I gave the go ahead on. Through out my appointment Dr. Rao gave me zero grace, my first exchange of words with Dr. Rao was her informing me that the reason my son is uncooperative is the TIME OF DAY which I scheduled my sons appointment. Early intervention of dental care is a top priority for me regarding my child so when there was a time of day that worked with my work schedule I jumped on it. If the time of day for any given age group (or individual) is not preferred, the front desk should be made aware of this and communicated prior to an appointment at bare minimum. I was not ever informed that my child was not suitable for an appointment at 2:30. It's never been an issue with ent, pediatric care, physical therapy or speech. I was not going to write this review until receiving the letter in my mailbox that I have attached to this review. To dismiss me from your practice due to your staffs lack of communication and me defending my words by correcting your misinformation is shocking to me. Even before this letter was received, I had zero intentions of returning to your practice. I will make sure that the people in my life never send their children to any of your practices. Do better.

Well their front desk failed to do so and then hit us with a $500 bill. When I called to discuss it, she just blamed the insurance company because she didn't do her job. I have worked in the dental field for more than 20 years and if a patient is going to have a bill they are made aware of it in advance, agree to it and sing a treatment plan and consent. None of this was done.

I was called before her 2nd appointment to go over forms that were needed etc. The woman on the phone was rude and made me feel terrible about them "allowing" me to do no downpayment and that they "stretched" my payment plan for me. I was never told a downpayment was an option, I also never asked them to stretch the payment plan, it was what they provided me. I cancelled the appt and we are not moving forward with treatment and have an appt somewhere else.

I have had two children go through this office for braces…read more my daughter had her braces removed and still had a cross bite. They attempted to do more corrections to it with Invisalign but were unsuccessful. Ultimately the braces were removed prematurely and we spent a lot of money for a cross bite correction that was not fixed. there were other elements of her bite correction that were done well. My son is currently in braces and the experience has been ok. time will tell if his bite, which was the same problem as his sister and my own, will be corrected. the absolute worst part of this clinic is scheduling. while the receptionists are wonderful, they can only work with what they have. the doctors at this clinic take on far more patients than what they have time for so appointments are very hard to get. and if you do get an appointment, there's a good chance it won't be at the clinic nearest you and you'll have to drive to one of their other locations. they will not let you see other orthodontists, you must see the one you had your initial consult with. we see Hobday, so it is possible that he is the only one who is taking on far more patients than he can handle. if I could do it all over again I would go to a different orthodontist with only one location to avoid the chaos of driving all over the world going to ortho appointments when we are able to get them.
