Called this business today to ask baseline questions for a coworker who is losing hair and is going through chemo treatment. The business owner didn't use her Active Listening Skills in the conversation when I asked if the wig prescription was accepted and I repeatedly told her that my coworker had the accurate prescription. She proceeded to ask me if I was a friend or the insurance company. Effective communication skills is Not something everyone has and I get that phone calls can be a whole barrier. However, the business owner can def do better especially given the situation and be Anything less than condescending. I will probably see if my coworker will consider another place. This was def a disjointed call. Clarity for others who may need this info: -They offer full receipts for reimbursement from your insurance company if your insurance offers the coverage (call your insurance to ask). -Wigs may cost between $60-200 depending on what you choose, based on your desires. -They do not offer wig trimming for products not purchased through them. - The owner emphasized having the accurate labeling of a Prosthesis Wig Prescription to get reimbursed by your insurance company and she gave an example that medi-caid doesn't cover it. A copy is not necessary for her as she charges the cost up front to the client. read more

I went here to try on some wigs since my hair is started to thin. But I saw Khamta just finished with her client. She gave her a new haircut and highlights. I was impressed. So I made an appointment with her. I'm glad I did! She's very good of what she does! Love my new coloring highlights and all. She cuts my hair that gave my hair volume. She showed me on how to style it so my hair will look thicker. She's very nice and definitely recommend her! read more

On my way down McHenry Ave., I saw signs for a Wig Sale; so I stopped. The lights were on and the Open sign was out; but the shop was closed. Luckily there was a phone number on the sign. I made an appointment to go in and look at wigs, (Having alopecia, I wear them daily). Khampta, the proprietor was pleasant and showed me around. I purchased 2 wigs, a wig cap, conditioner and a tangle free spray. I had also brought in a wig, (real hair, purchased from Amazon). Khampta cut my Amazon wig, unfortunately not well, but no big; I can "fix" it. I also came in with my fiance on another occasion. I asked for his hair to be colored/blended and a trim. The trim was good, but the color was basically the same as it was before. But she's a single lady, struggling; so I just paid it. Less than 2 months later, one of the wigs got frizzled and frayed in front! I had kept good care of it and only used the conditioner that Khampta sold to me on it. So bummed. I texted and called to let her know. I said that I would be coming in to buy another wig for my mother and wanted some sort of refund on the inferior wig. I mean $79.00 wasn't exactly cheap and all together I spent $278.20. ($90. on the 2nd visit). Well, she said absolutely no refunds. I explained that I only use the product that she sold me on the wig and that evidently there was a problem with the quality of the wig. I told her that I would accept money off of the next week that I was going to buy for my mother on my visit next. And she said absolutely not. Too bad! I had several other wigs that I was going to purchase and figured it was just a poor quality wig that had been out too long. So I will never go back. She sells poor quality items and doesn't stand behind them. Don't go, save your money. read more

I am being generous by giving two stars. I went to the shop to help my grandma purchase a new wig. The experience started off fine and she did try on quite a few wigs. We could tell that the associate was getting frustrated when we were on our 4th and final wig. We told her that we wanted to go with a wig that my grandma had said she liked. The associate tried telling us it was a different wig and began to get visibly annoyed. She kept repeating "this is the one". We located with correct wig that my grandma wanted without a single "I'm sorry" or "my mistake". We asked to see the magazine to make sure that we received the correct wig on delivery day and were met with an eye roll. On the day of pickup the wig was NOT styled as promised during our try on. I also ended up finding the wig online for cheaper. Needless to say, go somewhere else and let her keep her attitude to herself. Khamta is amazing and a great help to my mom. She was very patient with my mom and I. She showed so many different wigs and fully explained the difference between them. I was amazed there is so much to learn about wigs. I am a hard customer and very critical. Khamta answered everything. I was so impressed with her. She trimmed the wig and helped my mom. Customer service was aweful with no empathy for what customers may be going through. Along with their ridiculous policy of paying 20 bucks to try on 4 wigs. This review is for Khamta, one of the stylists. I was one of those who would go to an $8. Haircut place until I ran into a friend who uses Chantel's. And his hair looked great. I decided to give it a try, and asked for Khamta, his stylist. This was a great choice. Been there twice and plan on her as my stylist from now on. She's friendly, likes people, can carry a great conversation, and cut or style your hair anyway you desire to perfection. Always communicating with you during the process. The place is clean and organized. Prices are great. My haircut was $15. and worth it. Goodbye to the $8. haircut place, where you get chopped and run. I strongly recommend her. Poor service, no return policy, wouldn't recommend going here. My wife went here to get an extension or a topper. They brought out topper and tried it on and it looked okay in the poor lighting in the shop. When my wife came home in real lifhting the color wasn't even close so she called and setup an appointment to return it. They said there would be a re-stocking fee of $30. When we got there they said it could only be exchanged. There wasn't anything she liked, so now she is stuck and out $150. read more

2 stars is pretty generous. Purchased a wig here and it was not a good experience. The person who sold me the wig was nice but not at all helpful. Fortunately I knew what style and color I wanted. Took longer to get since it was not ordered from the distributor for several days after I placed order at the store. I called to see if it was in and was told they would call to let me know when it arrived. When they called to tell me the wig had arrived, I gave the person to whom I spoke the exact time I would be in. When I got there no one at the salon knew where the wig was. A lengthy search ensued. I had asked about a wig form and was told it cost $4.99. When I went to purchase it, the price became $7.99. To add a further comical (at this point) touch, I was told there would be 9% sales tax. Needless to say, I refused to pay that. In fact , I very nearly walked out of the place! I honestly don't know how this place remains in business. There is no privacy for someone who may be suffering hair loss, there appears to be no one who has any expertise in fitting wigs, and it would seem there is absolutely no organization at Chantel's. I went ahead and purchased the wig but I certainly won't do business there again . I urge others to explore alternative options for wigs. read more

I've gotten my hair cut by Khamta twice and she's pretty good. It was a turn off when I first walked into the salon and there was no one at the front desk -- I had to walk into the salon and look around for my stylist. Their pricing is pretty good -- I paid $35 for a haircut & style and $100 total for a cut & highlights (a total bargain considering my hair is long AND thick). Khamta did a great job at my red highlights and gave me a good cut. However, I showed her a picture of how I wanted my hair cut but she didn't want to cut it "that short" because of the texture of my hair. Overall, it's a good place to go in Modesto but I prefer a stylist who will give me the haircut I want. read more

If you want a great hairstylist Khamta is the one for you !!! As a client who has used her for over a year it is a pleasure to have a stylist that works with me in maintaining my cut and color. She loves working with me to change up my look and style whenever I request. She also does "maintenance " trims without being asked so that my style looks like a fresh cut. Her cost are more than fair with cut, color and hair replacement to keep a person going back.
