We can't find it. It's now named Da Shark Shack and definitely not a Filipino fusion restaurant

That's why I was really excited to try 808 Grindz Cafe, and I truly wanted to love this place. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing. The cafe was busy, so waiting about 30 minutes for our food wasn't a big deal--we completely understood that. I ordered the Braddah Moco and a stack of Macadamia Nut Pancakes. One thing that surprised me was that the pancakes don't automatically come with the macadamia nut sauce. Since it's their signature macadamia pancake, I honestly assumed the sauce would be included. Instead, they only came with syrup, so if you want the macadamia sauce, make sure you order it separately. We took our food to the beach, about a 20-minute drive away. Once we unpacked everything, we realized our Portuguese sausage was missing, and I was still disappointed about not having the macadamia sauce. We had to drive another 20 minutes back through traffic just to get the missing sausage. By the time we got back, nearly an hour had passed. They handed us the original Portuguese sausage they had forgotten to bag instead of making a fresh one or even reheating it. It was completely cold, which was frustrating after making the extra trip. I ended up ordering the macadamia nut sauce separately, and thankfully it was served hot. It definitely made the pancakes better, but I still think it's strange that it isn't included with the Macadamia Nut Pancakes in the first place. The food itself had good flavors, but the missing items, the extra drive, and the lack of attention to our order really took away from the experience. I know mistakes happen, and I still want to support local businesses because that's important to us. I just hope they improve their quality control and double-check takeout orders before handing them out, because I truly wanted this place to become one of my favorites.

I got the veggie poke bowl and my husband got the catch of the day. They had both indoor and outdoor seating. We decided to sit in the patio area. They had mist blowing fans in the patio area to help cool off. Our food arrived pretty quickly. The presentation was good. The food looked appetizing! My veggie poke bowl was packed with sesame ginger flavor and tastes delicious. The side of salad was a good add on. My husband's dish looked great. The fish was soft and the flavor was nice. He liked the side of mac salad as well. I was a bit skeptical initially about the veggie bowl. However, it was great and I'm glad I tried something authentic food. We also got the chocolate lava cake for dessert. It came out pretty quickly. It was coated with strawberry syrup. The menu did say that it was going to come with whipped cream but I believe they ran out. However, the dessert was spectacular! All in all, loved the food! Highly recommend it, especially for those looking to try authentic veggie food.

The items are made to order so you get a bit more freshness than food sitting under a heat lamp. The rice is well cooked, but the batter is a bit heavy on the items, and one piece of chicken I bit into had a weird funk to it. The mac salad on the platter was good -- not too heavy with mayo and the noodles were cooked well. Similarly, I liked that the rice was not mushy and each grain stood on its own. Would I stop by again for a plate? Most likely not. One last nit-pick with Hawaii BBQ Deli is that the pricing is wildly incorrect. We looked at the menu online before stopping by and were surprised that we were charged a price higher than what was listed on the menu. We didn't question it and just paid the price, but it was a bit annoying that the menu in store on the counter was out-of-date and the price could have been entirely made up on the spot.

We did the 3 meat combo: Garlic Chicken, Short Rib, and Panko Fish w/ adobo fried rice + sesame corn on the side. I typically would order a mac salad and garlic shrimp but wanted to switch it up randomly for this occasion. Also grabbed two of the Hawaiian Sun drinks for $3.50 per drink which was expensive, but convenient, as we were driving out to catch the sunset and star gazing immediately after picking up our food. If I were to reorder, I'd do the same 3 piece combo, highlighting that the panko fish was surprisingly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside so this was a great option. I'd probably go with mac salad and give the kimchi fried rice a try. A friend did let us try the purple sweet potato salad side. This was a nice change of pace similar to the traditional mac salad.

I ordered the Animal Burger expecting something a bit more flavorful, but it ended up tasting pretty ordinary. Some might disagree and absolutely love it, and while it wasn't anything too special for me, it's still a solid, friendly spot. I'd still recommend it if you need a quick, convenient stop for a casual meal!
