We can't find it. It's now named Da Shark Shack and definitely not a Filipino fusion restaurant

Found this place was open till 1 pm and they served pancakes. Nice, because the alternative would have been Denny's...no thanks! Nice little hole in the wall where you order at the window and they serve you your food at the table. I ordered the Seafood omelet and a side of Macadamia Nut Pancakes, wife ordered the Boneless Short Rib plate. My only gripe was the pancakes only came with maple syrup and not a macadamia sauce, which we had to buy separate. I was used to having the sauce come with the pancakes at a certain restaurant in Kailua, Oahu, so this was a bit unexpected. But the food was well prepared and tasty. It was really good! So good we came back the next day to have breakfast again. Only this time it was Adobo Fried Rice. We brought two plates for me and the wife which we soon regretted because my wife could not finish hers since the portions were really big. Should've have shared just one. Another place to add to our go to list to eat when we come back to visit Kona.

Due to wild goose chases in Holualoa and getting lost and many reverses following GPS our first meal of the day was after 11 am. Many tables to eat inside the restaurant and food comes out remarkably fast at reasonable prices. Thank goodness cuz that allowed us to finish up our intended errands in Kailua- Kona: KTA, Mrs. Barry's and fill up the rental car. Thanks Bruddah Fran. If they had wun tun mein I'd give them 5 stars. They had cool things like oxtail loco moco and kalbi plate for $12.

They gave everyone before us a number to claim their food, but not us. They said we would get a text when it was ready and it would take 45 min to an hour. Food was ordered at 10:10 We sat at a table the whole time waiting. 11:12 pm - still no food. I go to the cashier to inquire about our order. "You need a box?" No, I wanted to check on my food, it's been More than an hour. "Oh it's here." Hands me a bag. You never texted us. "We were calling your name." I was at that table waiting the whole time, you never called my name. How long has it been done? "20 minutes" Are you serious? Why didn't you text us? You said you would text. "We don't text, the system does. If it doesn't text we don't know what to tell you." This kind of service is unacceptable. My food was cold. I had a cheeseburger, the fries were rock hard. I complained. "Do you not want your food?" I waited more than an hour and no where else is open, I paid plus I tipped (I wish I didn't) I'm too nice. She gave me new fries bc I complained they were rock hard. The new fries were also shit. This is my second time here. It will be my last. Learn better customer service. Food was mediocre. Burger was gross - maybe bc it was cold. We also ordered a hamburger / Korean chicken plate: cashier got our order wrong and gave us just hamburger with gravy. So disappointed.

Service is upbeat and fast, they are friendly and are open to any questions that you may have. Ambiance is unique, as it feels like you are in a bustling city. I ordered the Chicken Curry Katsudon!!! It was crispy, flavorful, and filled with massive portions! In fact, I saved the rest to have for dinner later. I loved the fact that the curry had a nice spice kick to it too! Cheers!

The items are made to order so you get a bit more freshness than food sitting under a heat lamp. The rice is well cooked, but the batter is a bit heavy on the items, and one piece of chicken I bit into had a weird funk to it. The mac salad on the platter was good -- not too heavy with mayo and the noodles were cooked well. Similarly, I liked that the rice was not mushy and each grain stood on its own. Would I stop by again for a plate? Most likely not. One last nit-pick with Hawaii BBQ Deli is that the pricing is wildly incorrect. We looked at the menu online before stopping by and were surprised that we were charged a price higher than what was listed on the menu. We didn't question it and just paid the price, but it was a bit annoying that the menu in store on the counter was out-of-date and the price could have been entirely made up on the spot.

Not to mention, the staff were killing it when turning tables! I went with the classic, Spicy Garlic Chicken. For me, it wasn't spicy at all. So, I would greatly encourage those on the fence of which Garlic dish to order, go spicy! It is PACKED with flavor... and did I mention, it broke da mouth! I added the kimchi cucumbers for my vegetable and they were fire. I even went back for the pork belly because dayummm. As always, expect a line. Because locals and tourists love this place! I opted to eat the food by the ocean and in the rainforest at my B+B. So, take the food to a cozy corner of Hawaii and bite down! You will be missing out on a local staple, so RUN to this amazing restaurant once you arrive on the Big Island!!!

There was a long line out the door that slowly moved. Once inside, it was uncomfortably hot (no AC). So if you're heat-sensitive, be mindful that you might be waiting awhile. You order and pay at the counter. Upon receiving your number, you wait to be called to pick up your food. All items are served in takeout containers. They have several tables inside, or you can take it to go. The workers are all kind and work hard. Being a popular spot with made-to-order items, it took a while for our food to come out. The ambiance is casual, really not much decor or stuff to look at. My Dad and I shared the Two-Meat Combo. We chose Garlic Furikake Chicken and Pork Belly Fat Adobo as our proteins. Plus white rice as our starch and mac salad as our side. The portions are quite big; this was more than enough for us. The chicken was crunchy and tasty. Depending on the bite, some meat was a bit drier than others. The pork adobo was so good--melt in your mouth with the fattiness! The mac salad was a winner. Broke Da Mouth Grindz seems to be a go-to spot for locals and tourists in Kona. Beware, lines can be super long and wait times can vary. I'm happy to have tried it, but I wouldn't come again during a peak hour. Find them on Luhia Street with free parking in the plaza.

Six of us tried several different dishes and no one was disappointed. The Pupu Platter started the meal and it gave us a taste of the ribs, crab cakes and vegetable rolls. Every Dish was seasoned well and cooked as hoped. The drinks were well made also. From the Hawaiian Honey Bee to the Mai Tai they were delish without any skimping on the quality of the liquor. Past visits felt old dark and the food was below average. I also thought past menus had way too much stuff to select from. My opinion on that is no one can be excellent at everything on a menu made of three pages long. The menu now is much smaller with less than a handful of mains and pupus. Seasonal as well... After our delicious cocktails we started with the pupu platter which might sound like a lot but it really was perfect. More like a tasting plate with all four pupu offerings on the menu. Excellent tasting!!! Personally, I could make that a meal. My main was one of the two specials the pork chop with mixed veggies and potato mash. It was very good and plated beautifully. As you can see I did give it a four star because I alway feel like there is always room for improvement and I very rarely give a five. Unless this place changes ownership again I think Jackie Rey's is headed for greater days with the current ownership. This girls opinion...
