Chill place to hang out or get some work done. We got their Kona pour over, lilikou lime refresher, and ube latte with oat milk. The Kona pour over wasn't bitter or sour, pretty good! The lilikou lime refresher was also good. Not overly sweet, good amount of bubbles, passion fruity and a very light hint of lime. The ube was alright, we couldn't really taste the ube flavor. We came back another day and got their matcha latte with oat milk (sweetened), loaded spam musubi, and avocado toast. The matcha latte was not our favorite, it had a weird macadamia(?) and stevia taste to it, not entirely sure what it was but it threw off the matcha flavor for us. The loaded spam musubi was very dense, but pretty good. The avocado toast was very good. Huge bread slice and lots of toppings!
This is a really cute spot in Kona. Service was pretty quick, and there was lots of seating inside and out. I love that they served your drinks in a real glass!! They had a good variety of fun island flavors, I went with an iced haupia latte and it was delicious. I also got a spam musubi that I forgot to take a photo of, but that was not as memorable as the coffee. I would come back here next time :)
Super friendly staff and it's a nice spot to work or study from (saw a few people with laptops). But the drinks are awful. Pretty sure they were burnt. I got the ube latte and my husband got a cortado and we threw both away after a few sips. The chia oat was average, quite pricey for what it is / can make at home. Given just a tablespoon of granola. Pass.

We went to HiCo in April 2026 (late review). HiCo was my favorite coffee shop we visited. The cold brew was strong and the pick me up I needed. I wish we would have ate here bc the menu sounded fabulous. The store was so cutie and the staff was sooo friendly. I wish I could go daily hahaha their merch was also so cute! The hat I got there was so cute and I get so many compliments on it back home.

Staff was friendly and polite as we had no idea what we wanted. We were not caffeinated yet. Drinks were very good. I loved my Ube cold brew. The wife got the local pollen, honey latte. Play some screen and nice music was not too loud. Definitely place. Nice to sit down. Relax and enjoy yourself.
We stopped by on a Friday morning around 7:30am. There were about six patrons already dining and enjoying their drinks while working or chatting with friends. A small line started to form when we got there -- it seemed they were mostly tourists! The cashier was very nice when he took our order. We ordered the following: Iced 16 oz Lilly Latte - 5/5 it had a subtle taste with the Ube to smooth out the grainy taste of matcha. If you're more of a traditionally sweet drink girlie, I would recommend this drink. Iced 16 oz Ube Latte - 3/5 the Ube latte was really smooth. I've just noticed that a lot of the Hawaiian coffee shops do not overly sweeten their drinks, so I wasn't a huge fan of this one. I think you'd like it if you are a true coffee drinker and wanted an Ube twist. 2 Slices of Hico Avocado Toast - 4/5 probably one of the best bites I've had in Hawaii. Super fresh with a nice vinegarette on the greens. Great crunch on the toast. It might've been better with a little balsamic or some POG jam or something. Nonetheless, still good. We probably could've shared 1 slice between the two of us. Loaded Spam Musubi - my only comparison was the Musubi Cafe IYASUME from Waikiki, so this was a different take on the classic Musubi. It was topped with kewpie mayo and sriracha sauce. It might've been better with some unagi sauce as well. We didn't get to eat this until later because we were stuffed from the avocado toast. When we had it, it wasn't bad! It just wasn't something that needs to be purchased at HiCO. Generally, it seemed pretty busy at the cafe and lots of landscapers were working in the area, disturbing the quiet morning. We sat outside, enjoying the cool breeze and waited about 7-15 minutes for our order. The drinks came out a little sooner. All in all, I would recommend HiCO. They had a solid menu with decadent drinks and appetizing bites.

I stopped by here earlier this week for my morning coffee. Whenever I go on vacation I try to hit up a new coffee shop every morning and on this day I ended up at HiCO Coffee. We had just landed on the Big Island from Maui and after checking Yelp, this spot came up. This particular location is in the Brew strip mall and has both a front and back entrance. Inside there is a good amount of merchandise for sale, a live edge coffee bar, some surfboards, and interesting artwork on the walls. There is also seating both inside and outside, with more available outside. After looking over the menu I decided on a 20 oz iced ube latte. The menu described it as a homemade ube syrup topped with your choice of milk and Hawaiian espresso. It took a little while before I had my drink and was on my way. The latte was definitely interesting. I did not get much sweetness from it and instead noticed more of an earthy flavor along with a slight mineral-like note. I would not say it was bad, but it was not my favorite flavor profile. On the plus side, the coffee itself came through well and had a smooth and clean taste. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. I like that they make their own ube syrup and would be interested in trying it again to see if this was typical. Either way, the coffee itself was good and I would like to try some of their other drinks like a haupia or honey and bee pollen latte.
I always have to stop here when ever I'm in kona. I love the ambiance and just the setting of it all. Menu is easy and clear to read, not overwhelming. I love love love their ube latte, I was debating on trying something new but ended up going right back. I also went with the strawberry frappe and that was really good too. I'll be stopping by again tomorrow before I leave.
Definitely one of my favorite copy shops on the island. Very cute shop with ube options. They have indoor and outdoor seating, and it is so inviting. I got a cold brew with ube cold foam and loved it. This reduces the overly sweetness and sugary side of their regular ube drink. I really wanted to try their ube cookie but opted for a lemon poppyseed bar instead. I really wanted to try their musubi and thought I was going to at another time. Next time!
I visited HiCo twice during my recent visit to the island. Honestly, the drinks were just as delicious as 2023. Their ube topped iced matcha latte was the bomb. Their service is great and there's lots of indoor and outdoor seating. Overall, I highly recommend this coffee shop.
I ordered the ube latte, for some odd reason it had no sweetener when I took my first sip. It was surprising. I went to the bar and saw a bottle of simple syrup with writing that said "help yourself" perhaps they don't add sugar to any coffee and you have to do it yourself? Cold brew was really sour, perhaps that's the taste of the coffee beans itself. We ordered the loaded spam musubi and spicy crab musubi. They are really loaded, for $17 each, it's pretty expensive for rice and spam. It's heavily covered in sriracha and mayo. We weren't fans of how much sauce covered the musubis, we had to scrape it off. Id opt to eat a normal musubi, save yourself $17 read more

This is a really cute spot in Kona. Service was pretty quick, and there was lots of seating inside and out. I love that they served your drinks in a real glass!! They had a good variety of fun island flavors, I went with an iced haupia latte and it was delicious. 3.5 stars. Got the haupia lattee and one of the frozen drinks. Both were alright and it was around $18 for both. Drinks took forever to come out, we must have waited 15-20 minutes. Great espresso, matcha is made well, sometimes the ube cold foam and haupia lattes aren't flavorful enough but I know some people prefer subtle flavors. This was my go to spot while in Hawaii and I bought some beans to take home. I'll be back. Service was always good and I loved the indoor and outdoor seating options. read more
Cool vibes inside. Service was good. Their coffee was good overall per family. I wanted to try their lilikoi lime refresher so I did as it was one of their favorited drinks. It was not good... very strong in lime flavor. I couldn't taste the lilikoi at all. The carbonation was there. read more
We've been eyeing the spam musubis that they have at the Kona location and finally caved. Also got a matcha raspberry ? cookie to try. Musubi took about 10 min to make. We tried the cookie while we waited. It was alright. Kind of dry, not the biggest flavor of matcha. Musubi came out and it was warm, spam was thick. It was pretty delicious, and I did enjoy it! However, for the price, it's not something that you can't make at home. Probably wouldn't get again, but nice to have the option if you're really craving spam musubi! read more

Stopped by HiCo for a relaxed morning in Kona and it totally delivered. We had the smoked salmon toast, ube latte, and an açaí bowl--all fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The toast was generous with toppings and had a nice balance of smoky and creamy. The ube latte was rich, not too sweet, and definitely a highlight. The açaí bowl was refreshing with great texture and fresh fruit. The space is bright and modern with a cool local feel. Service was friendly and fast. A cute coffee spot in Kona! My barista helped me with my drink order, which I really appreciated since I can get picky about my matcha! The food portions are plentiful so come hungry or order multiple things to share with a group like I did :). The loaded spam musubi is delicious! (But get lots of napkins cause it's saucy!) If you sit outside, be aware of the birds looking for handouts! read more

For sure a must try while in Kilaue-Kona. The spicy crab musubi was delicious and packed with crab meat over warm rice, wrapped in seaweed, and topped with mayo, tonkatsu sauce, sriracha, and furikake. Other food options include avocado toast, chia oat pudding, and sandwiches. HiCO also serves drinks including lattes, cold brew, matcha, and non-caffeinated options. Food: I got their Iced Haupia (coconut) Latte. Give it a good shake and stir before you drink it is my advice haha I love how the coconut light sweetness mixed with the Kona Coffee. The foam is also nicely done. Wearing their hat get 10% and you can also join their reward program for more the second visit will have 15% off, which is a bliss for coffee lovers. Service: very nice and welcoming. Asking for their recommendation will be helpful. Ambiance: tropical + punky light gives you a chill jungle feeling. The space is relatively small, so recommend takeout for sure. read more

The malasada was soo delicious and perfectly sweet. The ube latte was yummy! But I did prefer the haupia cold brew it was not a miss! Service was great super sweet girls working and the place itself was super pretty and earthy. read more
I made a quick stop at HiCO for my morning coffee after landing in Kona. I arrived a little after 9AM on a Saturday morning and most of the tables were already occupied but the parking lot had lots of spaces available. The iced haupia latte sounded refreshing and it's something different so I ordered that and took a seat at the counter/bar. The wait was short since there were 2 baristas working. So, I like my coffee drinks sweet and creamy and the haupia latte was creamy but it needed sweetener. I saw the simple syrup next to the pick-up area so I added some into my drink and then it was perfect. The shop has interior and patio seating. It's very open and there's lots of natural light. Their drink prices range from $4 - $8 which is normal for a coffee shop. For food, they have a bunch of different toasts, musubi's, and pastries. Near the back door, they have HiCO apparel, coffee beans, and ube syrup for sale. If I had more time, this would be a nice place to come with friends and eat breakfast, sip on coffee, and talk story. read more

How's the parking?
There is plenty of parking right near the cafe and although the parking lot can get a bit busy you'll generally be able to find a spot.
I would like to go there at the beginning of my island tour, is there a restroom inside the store?
Not inside of the store, but there are stalls in the middle of the "strip mall" by the chicken place
I really want to stop by! Do you take American express?
They have square so they can accept all major credit cards.
