    Flatbread

The street taco was very good. The salad was OK. I do not recommend ordering the flatbread. Not much topping on it. . and the appetizer pickle wasn't worth the money.. The drinks were good. Has a Nice ocean front view watching a beautiful sunset. The server was very nice.

This isn't about real estate! This is about food. But... Temple Kitchen has both! Bright and open to the air with modern decor and some outdoor seating, this place is a fantastic location to dine and enjoy the beautiful view of the pacific ocean. We got checked in at the resort we were staying at and decided to walk around until we were hungry enough then we stumbled upon this place. They seated us immediately on a Saturday night without reservation. The hostess and our waitress were both lovely. I got a glass of wine and my husband had a beer. We started with the kampachi ceviche which was prepared with cucumber, onion, cilantro, pineapple, lilikoi (passion fruit), chili oil, micro radish and aji amarillo. This was served with some nachos chips. Delicious and fresh tasting with just enough acidity to the dish. I had the pork belly poke served with onions, tomatoes and topped with ogo (red seaweed) which was fantastic, well seasoned and perfectly prepared. My husband had the baba ganoush which he tremendously enjoyed. We had another drink and then headed out after a super successful dinner. Our waitress was fantastic.

We walked over one night as this was one of the only places open late on a weeknight. We were able to be seated right away since it was pretty quiet. The service was great and environment is casual, nice and open, good beach views. The food is a little pricey, but that's expected since it's right downtown near the beach. The tacos were not bad but nothing too special, and not very big. The pork was pretty good, nice and crispy. Overall not a bad choice if you need something to eat late at night.

4.5 star reviews as of Jan 2, 2026?? Really? It's kind of a joke. We were lured into this business by this greatly "misleading" rating so on our first night in the Big Island, only a stone's throw from or AirBnB property, we walked to it to try it out. Unfortunately though, We walked out of it with so much disappointment after having several of overly priced small portioned dishes with no quality. Pork Belly Poke's at $22 is a joke. The pork was dry. And why they named this dish "poke" is/was so hard to fathom; t's was more like a side salad that should have been $15. Ugh... Seared Oyster Mushrooms was one of the decent dishes out of everything and yet it was nowhere near impressive. Again, the portion was small. Oysters were okay-ish. Not bad. And yet calling them "decent" was the best opinion we could give it. After all, the only thing that was refreshing and enjoyable was the kombucha, Likikoi Booch Tea (LOL). Except this mocktail and the oysters, the two dishes above took forever to come out of the kitchen. The total bill of $75 at the end didn't even fill our empty stomachs. It sure wasn't worth the money and effort for our special dinner in the beautiful Big Island. It's right on the coastline of Oneo Bay so during the day, the view might be spectacular and yet if that's the only thing this place can boast about, then "No thanks" to it. Definitely one of the tourist traps. I do not recommend.

Our plane didn't land until after 9 PM and this place saved us. We were able to order dinner at 10:15 pm with fantastic cocktails, and a view of the ocean. We were so impressed we came back for another dinner later in the week. Staff are very friendly and the food is high-quality and delicious. Fantastic addition to the restaurant options in this area ! Costco has gift cards right now too! $100 for $80 spend.

SUPER good! And SUPER friendly staff! I've always driven past this place on Ali'i and wanted to give it a shot but sometimes parking in that area can be a bit rough. Some friends wanted to meet up there so we gave it a go and WOW! The view is superb and the drinks and food are 10/10!! (In fact it was all so good I couldn't get pictures quick enough lol) Will definitely be stopping by more often when I'm craving a good steak and perfect cocktails! The only thing I probably wouldn't get again is the pickle platter

While on The Big Island my wife and I wanted to have a drink just to cool off. We came across The Temple in Kailua Kona and sat down for a couple of drinks. Middle of the day and a pretty good crowd for a bar. Again I ask. What do you people do on the Big Island that allows for this lifestyle. I want in! Anyway the menu caught our eye. Our 2 Drinks turned into a full on lunch. I ordered the Cubano Sandwich my wife had the Ceviche. Both terrific. But truly the hit was the appetizer of Seared Oyster Mushrooms. Very unique dish that we just destroyed. We thought we were just going to cool off but we discovered a great lunch spot with great food. A real sleeper. Don't let the name fool you. The Temple Bar is more than just a Bar it is a great place to eat. BTW. Hats off to the bartender that mixed an awesome Old Fashioned. Definitely Recommended.

Vodka lemon water rebranded as a "mojito". Love the rehydrated mint shards. Pass.

Behold the $14 mojito with "mint". Did the shake dried mint into my drink or is this parsley? Can't tell. Not impressed. Why is this even on the menu? Poke was pretty good. Would come back for food but this place is very expensive for what it is. Solid three star.

Service from Julie was stellar! The sunset ocean view is gorgeous. Garlic prawns were crunchy and saucy. Heads on for max flavor. Calabrese flatbread with hot honey was tasty. Caesar salad with anchovy filets spot on. The OG Mai Tai was tasty and strong in the best way.

I've been a fan of The Temple Bar in Hilo for many years, since even before they opened. I was glad to see they opened another location, this time on the Kona Coast in the old location of A-Bays. It's easy to walk here from many hotels, plus they have parking behind shared with the other bars and restaurants. They have a beautiful view of the ocean, great for sunsets or evening dining. This place has higher prices, but it's worth it for the ingredients and types of food you may not find elsewhere. It's all open air, with a bar in the middle and tables both outside and in. Our server was wonderful, accommodating our larger group and quick to please. I ordered a charcuterie tray, which was filled with great munchies. Their beer tap list isn't large, but it's a good selection of local and national beers. The final bill was a bit high, but for a special occasion it was worthwhile.

    Excellent view!!!

Erin was super cool service was amazing!! Food was tasty, lovely location for sunset. Drinks were on point. Charcuterie board was tasty but a little small the ceviche was really good. Portions were just small. :)

One of the best places I have eaten in Kona and with a gorgeous ocean view! We were supposed to go somewhere else for brunch but my dad and partner came here and started drinking bloody Mary's. This spot offers brunch on the weekends and great drink specials! Who can pass up a $5 Bloody Mary? Especially when the Bloody Mary mix is made in-house? I'm pretty picky with bloody Mary's and I'm happy to say these are excellent and well-balanced with a nice amount of spice! My party ordered the steak hash, sliders, and breakfast burrito. Everything was super good! According to the server, everything is sourced locally -- naturally a huge plus. Service was excellent too. Great spot to visit to get truly delicious food that tastes fresh. Well done!

Parking to clock in . Easy

Today, I had the pleasure of experiencing the exceptional food and drink service. The parking issue was effectively resolved by clocking in at Temple Bar. I highly recommend visiting this establishment; they provide comprehensive assistance with parking arrangements. Manager " Zach" and server gentleman and Ian" the general manager "" and the were very helpful and friendly. I highly recommend checking this place out !!

Most of the nearby restaurants close to our hotel were either closing soon or offered heavier meals, so I was happy to come across Aloha Wine Bar online. Despite the name, it has an interesting food menu in addition to their drinks. We were able to walk over from the hotel and were glad to see a few other customers there without it feeling overly busy, so we were able to sit right away. We ordered a few of drinks, some sushi dishes to share that really hit the spot, and a flatbread pizza to round everything out. The bartender (whose name I unfortunately forgot) was super friendly, and it was clear he enjoyed chatting and engaging with the customers. That always adds to the experience :) If I "had to" complain about anything, it would be that the pizza took quite a while to come out compared to the drinks and other food. That being said, it wasn't a dealbreaker and we didn't mind much since we were not in a rush. We were on vacation, after all. Tbh I'm not sure when we will make it back to Big Island or to this particular area, but if/when we do, I would absolutely consider coming back to try more of their food and drinks. We had a really lovely time here.

The restaurant is located inside the Mauna Kea Resort and just above the beautiful Mauna Kea Beach. They have a nearby location where you can see Manta Rays at night. The service is always very good at this restaurant and the food is amazing. During my last trip I got many fish dishes in Hawaii and they didn't exactly impress me so this trip I am going for other proteins. I got the bone in New York Strip and my wife got the dried aged pork chop. Our server recommended the pork chop to be cook medium and I already knew it'll be pretty good. My ribeye was very good. It was perfectly cooked to medium rare and it comes with a side of purple sweet mashed potato. However, my wife's pork chop was the most impressive dish. It was tender, sweet, and savory. I had some of her pork chop and I wish I ordered one too. I stripped that pork chop bone clean. The dessert was pretty good but I do wish there were other options. We ordered the Soufflé and the Chocolate Mille-Feuille. The Soufflé was very good but the Chocolate Mille-Feuille was just ok. Our server did recommended us to get the Bombe Alaska but I already tried it during my last trip. After dinner we all went to the cliff to watch the Manta Rays. The kids especially enjoyed this activity. I am not sure when I'll return to the Big Island but if I do, I'll probably be visiting Manta again.

We planned this evening well in advance, making reservations over a month ago and explicitly noting the milestone celebration. My husband even called ahead of time to confirm, and the staff assured us they would do something special for them. The letdown began right at arrival. The hostess was passive and asked our table, "Who is celebrating their anniversary?" Given that our party consisted of two couples under 40 and my in-laws, it felt incredibly unobservant and careless for a luxury resort host team. Later in the meal, my husband quietly asked our server if anything special was planned for the occasion, only to be told, "No, we don't do that." Beyond a casual, passing verbal acknowledgment, absolutely nothing was done. The only true highlight of the evening was the beautiful view. Our server was friendly, though a bit awkward, but the kitchen and bar execution were highly disappointing: * **The Drinks:** Highly overpriced for the size, lacking in flavor, and tasted noticeably watered down. * **The Pacing:** While thankfully, we were in no rush, it took a tremendous amount of time to receive our appetizers and salads, though the entrees did arrive quickly after. * **The Food:** Every dish was exceptionally expensive, yet the portion sizes were minuscule and entirely flavorless. The Caesar salad, in particular, had a very strange, off-putting flavor profile. * **Dessert:** We ordered the $17 cheesecake, which was absolutely tiny. For a premium dining experience on the coast at a luxury resort, you expect a balance of ambiance, culinary excellence, and attentive service. While Manta has the ambiance down, the food and hospitality were entirely lacking. We left the restaurant hungry, deeply disappointed, and feeling that our family's major milestone deserved a much higher level of care than what we received.

We were only $20 short of reaching the $300 spending requirement for the free gifts, which should speak to how frequently we visited and how much money we spent at this store. Despite being repeat customers, every visit was met with the same poor customer service. All of the cashiers who helped us were rude, curt, and could not even acknowledge the smallest greetings. The customer service was so unpleasant that it was not worth the experience. The food is not amazing, the prices are not great, and the only thing this place has is convenience--nothing more to offer. In one instance, I got a burger and a black milk tea with boba. I specifically told the cashier that I wanted boba, but she did not ring it up. When I inquired about the missing boba, a young employee addressed the matter with the cashier. They talked, and I said that if it cost more, I could pay for it. She rang up the boba with zero acknowledgment of her mistake. Nothing came out of her mouth. Complete silence. In another instance, I asked a cashier what the gifts were if we reached $300 in purchases. She did not say a word. She simply reached for a card with images of the gifts and placed it on the opposite side of where I was standing. She said nothing. I asked if those were the gifts, and she said yes. She then pulled out her phone while I looked at the card, and I simply said, "Okay, thank you." These are just a few examples of the many disturbing encounters we had with all of the cashiers. While on vacation in a tourist area, this is not the type of conduct or customer service one expects to experience. It was disturbing, and we dreaded going there despite the convenience.

Seriously impressed by this wine lounge which is as mature as their wines, with bold notes from musicians, fruity from the Burlesque after shows, plus perfect pairings charcuterie.

I was too busy getting photos of the view and eating. But luckily, the view is incredible. We had a really great time here. I went with the NY Strip and my wife had the scallops. Both were incredible and the steak was not only cooked perfectly but had a good seasoning to it. It was great! The area around the restaurant is great too. The resort has so many things to do/see. We were able to park and walk around before dinner reservation. Since we didn't stay at the Hilton, we didn't venture too much but they had a dolphin experience there that we wanted to take note of for next time we visit. This was such a cool experience and we would definitely come back again.

We also watched a man and his small son, trying to feed the cats some of their own dinner, not from their table but in the middle of the walkway buy the tables of other patrons and where the wait staff were walking around to serve guests. Not only is this unsanitary but it's not a safe environment for employees and it takes away from the dining experience. If this is a cat restaurant, then that should be included up front as a warning to guests. The view from the restaurant is incredible, especially sunset. Our dinner was probably one of the best meals anyone would find in this area. Our waitress was friendly and helpful. I would have easily given this place 5 stars sans cats.
