Cheryl makes her art look so effortless, and it is truly beautiful. In addition, her alter ego "Butterball The Clown" works the bay area party circuit." I just wanted to take a moment to write a separate review for Cheryl, because I still can't get out of my head how much fun, and how fabulous her face-painting was. What also amazed me, after hanging out all night with half my face covered in beautiful purples and greens and glitter-dust...was the easy clean-up when I got home and needed to say "farewell" to Cheryl's artwork. Only a couple of iterations of soap and water, and my face was clean as a whistle once again. She also does really impressive temporary tattoos using stencils and glitter (I overhead her saying that you can even shower and swim with them, as long as you don't scrub at it)! The little girl in front of me in line at Playland was thrilled with the rose she had "tattooed" onto her left leg, and the unicorn she chose for her right. Her website has 3 diff prices for services. Initially it said 249 and then under the services 299. I contacted the owner and she stated it was 299. I said I'm confused bc it stated it was 249 and then 299. She said that's an old price. I thought that's odd so I went to book Melody and the price changed yet again- now it's 339!!! In less than 15 mins the price went from 249- 339!!! The worst part about this experience is that she wasn't willing to honor the price SHE sent in a text and then doubled down by denying service altogether- when the issue was clearly an issue with her site. Rather then making I'm right- or even trying to right the wrong - her solution was to deny us the service- which is going to result in a special needs boy not getting the 1 thing he has asked for in a year or more. He's a very sweet boy that has had a hard life in just about every way. Melody made his worries, hospital visits, being bullied and just his hardships melt away. Quite honestly it was one of the few times I've seen him participate and smile at the mention of her name. Rather than apologize and try to resolve the issue she is going to deny a special needs boy his one ask. I'm so very sad and if she knew my kid at all- she would and should be ashamed that rather than making his bday the best it could be- she is showing that she lacks any empathy or understanding. Her commutation was great, she was early, set up within minutes and was ready to go. She had a portfolio, by also did custom requests- and the birthday girl went first. She painted adults and the kids and was so fast. I had given her an estimate on how many would want to be painted in the given time frame and she way exceeded that. We were so happy with her and so were our guests, we have recommended her multiple times. And, the paint that she uses is amazing. It doesn't rub off or melt; and you don't have to scrub it off. I've been to other parties where the paint rubbed off on everything. We will definitely be using her again.

Hired for a 5 year old birthday party…read more She spent 30+ minutes per kid, and used up all of the time we paid for with a significant number of children still wanting their faces painted. We ended up paying extra to have her stay longer and finish. On top of that she was pestering my wife and other guests for "sugary, non carbonated drinks" all afternoon. She kept complaining to my wife and guests of elbow pain and requesting ice for it in a bowl. Then when the pizza came for the kids she asked for multiple pieces of the kids pizza. After we had cleaned up the whole party she and her "assistant" were still not done packing up their stuff. When they finally finished packing their stuff into a rolling suitcase they flagged down my wife and asked her to ask me to come fold up their folding table and carry their bag to their car. For $500 I would think you would bring your own drinks and food and pack your own crap.
