Sheela Chawan I found Happiness Yoga in November 2018. I am lucky to have Shaishav and Sunita as my yoga teachers. They both are so welcoming and genuinely care about all of their students. I used to practice yoga by myself before joining Happiness Yoga because my own practice helped me control my acid reflux. I used to take medication to control my acid reflux but during a visit to India my friend encouraged me to join a yoga camp. Ever since joining that camp, I have loved yoga and it has become an activity that I enjoy. I have stopped taking medicine for my acid reflux issues, since I have found that practicing yoga has given me relief. Every day I do an exercise called Pranayam (controlled breathing) as a part of my yoga regiment and it helps me control my acidity levels. When I first joined Happiness Yoga, I learned through online classes. Since then, I have been to the studio a handful of times. The studio is a great place for teachers and students to interact; new students expand their knowledge and can feel comfortable because of how welcoming and inviting the instructors are. What I love the most about attending studio classes is that Shaishav and Sunita truly care about their students. They make me look forward to taking studio classes in the future. Studio classes focus on different forms of yog, different types of yog, and the effects a daily yoga routine has on the body. They also teach that yoga practices such as Yam, Niyam, Asana (for all stomach problems, obesity, gas, constipation etc.,) and Pranayam can benefit the body. During classes, instructors explain the benefits of yog through Dharna (concentration), Dhyan (meditation), Om Kara (Prayers) then followed by Asana (Postures), Pranayam (control of breathing) etc., and relaxation (Shavasan). No matter what your level of yoga practice is, they include you, make you feel good and give each student the best experience possible. The best part of happiness yoga I feel that it is a complete workout for body and mind. I used to attend my gym at work for yoga classes, but it's nothing like what Shaishav and Sunita offer me at the studio. I started attending Happiness Yoga exactly one month ago today. I have been going every day, including weekends. What a difference it has made in my life!!! Shaishav and Sunita know me by name and are helping me fix all the different things that have not been working well in my body. The pain on my neck and shoulders caused by arthritis is gone; my back pain is history; the numbness on my feet is going away!! All this in only one month of regular practice!! Now I fall asleep right away and sleep well all night. No need to take melatonin anymore. I am more aware and energetic... and happy!! The breathing exercises are amazing, and the meditation session on Friday nights is definitely a life changer. I found Happiness Yoga in January and I am so grateful for Shaishav and Sunita's teachings and the community of yogis. I attend the 6am class Monday through Friday and 730am weekend classes. I have practiced yoga many years and completed a 200 hour yoga teacher training last year but I learn something new every class. The studio is a great place for teachers to expand their knowledge but also super welcoming to students who are new to yoga. What I love most about taking class with Shaishav and Sunita is that they truly care about their students. I always look forward to walking in to the studio. I want to keep this place secret but I want to share so anyone who is interested learning yoga can try out. It was my FIRST TIME doing yoga and it was fun yet challenging. Teachers, Sunita & Shaishav, were very patient and willing to teach me step by step. They teach traditional India yoga. I've never been to westernized yoga classes so I do not know much about it but other classmate told me that non of the yoga classes teach like Happiness Yoga. I am looking forward to gain inner strength as well as good posture. They have early morning, morning, and evening classes you can choose from. They also offer one time free trial class. Seemingly out of nowhere, we have a wonderful new yoga studio in Lorton, VA. I went one time and immediately signed up for a monthly pass of unlimited yoga. The instructors are knowledgeable in traditional hatha/ashtanga based yoga and they are passionate about teaching and guiding anyone at any level. In addition, they are kind and willing to accommodate any specific needs. Many classes are offered each day from 6 am - 7:30 pm. In addition to yoga, this month they hosted an Ayurvedic Detox program for cleansing during the changing seasons. I am so happy that Sunita and Shaishav chose to open this new studio in Lorton. I started going to Happiness Yoga a few months ago. I think this is one of the best Yoga studios that I have been with. Both Sunita and Shaishav genuinely care about the well being of the students. They are patient, dedicated, and always cheerful. They greet you with a smile. The studio is clean, bright, and with a calming atmosphere. We do different breathing exercises before the physical portion of the class. These exercises have helped me tremendously with my asthma. Happiness Yoga is a unique yoga center in DC metro area. Both the teachers Shaishav and Sunita are expert traditional teachers from one of the renowned ashram of Sivananda. Great place to learn and practice yoga. Both the yoga instructors (Sunita and Shaishav) are very knowledgeable. They are very good at explaining each yoga poses and how it is helpful. Very clean facility with lots of natural light in a quiet area. This place welcomes people of all ages. I have seen small kids to 75 years old coming for yoga and enjoying. Each class begins with breathing practices (Pranayamas-which has so much benefits) followed by simple stretches/core building exercises, yoga poses (asanas) and ends with a final relaxation. I'm brand new to yoga and have always wanted to try it out. I can honestly say that the instructors are super knowledgeable and very kind. They are really technical and detailed in teaching the moves and positions, so you understand the benefits of it. I also enjoyed learning about the principles behind yoga.
