Happy Burro Chili & Beer is exactly what the name promises. Chili that warms your soul and beer that makes you forget you're in the middle of the desert. Their chili is so good it should come with a warning label, because one bowl turns into three before you know it. The place has that small-town charm where you half expect a cowboy (or an actual burro) to join you at the bar. If happiness had a flavor, it would taste like this chili and wash down with this beer.

This place is a vibe! Because we had a minor with us we had to sit outside, but the outside is really eclectic and fun. They had to barrel fire on so it was warm by our table. Food is just chili and while it wasn't my favorite chili I appreciated it had cheese and onions on it. Nice cheap fun place to stop going in or out of Death Valley.

Holy moly, this place screams vintage History! This is a really cool joint in the town of Beatty. You can see the history within this building. Their menu is simple and they say it right in the name Chili and beer, that's really about it (They have other liquor too). The bartender is there is also the one responsible for preparing your food plate. Seems to be a very popular Staple in the community. Prices are pretty reasonable for a small town oldie but goodie establishment. If you pay with a credit or debit card, let me tell ya...they charge an additional 3.9%. Bartender tells me it gets very hot in the summer and very cold in the winter in the building. When I went the temperature was perfect. There's not too many details except for it's worth a stop to see such a vintage Watering Hole. it's cozy it's quaint and they played Western TV shows. It was a unique addition to my road trip

If you are ever in the Beatty area, this place is a must! I happened in here after a day of Death Valley trekking. Super cozy, the place was packed to the gills already with regulars, but fortunately had some outside seating. Great Old-west decor, with a wall full of plaques from all the awards the chili has won over the years. I had to order up the chili dog with onions, and it was great! The chili was hot and tasty, the dog had that nice snap to the skin and was just the thing after a long day. The lady running the place (never got her name--my bad) was super friendly, as was the other people in the bar. Someone there had a cute doggie inside, so I got some bonus pets in. It was pretty cold outside being the end of December and all, but there was an awesome old school wood stove outside being tended by the part-time bouncer Randy. We sat down with this dude for a while and had a great old time! He regaled us with stories from his time as a Beatty native, and before we knew it the bar was closing time! Sure wish I had more time out there, but hopefully this won't be my last visit. All these reviews here, and not a single one mentioned the men's room? IYKYK.

Burro Bar is a hole in the wall, very small. You come inside and see everything and everyone at once. During COVID-19, just 4 people are allowed in to hang out. The cigarette smoke hits you instantly because it's allowed in Nevada to smoke inside. It is hard to breathe and you feel like you'll leave taking the smell in your clothes and hair. The locals were a tad strange. The bartender girl was trying to help everyone. The menu is very limited, we skipped the food since chili dog and chili burger didn't seem like a good option while we were travelling. Everything is cheap, they do have beers on tap and an outdoor area, nicely decorated for Christmas. I recommend this place more for a beer break while in Beatty than a food/dinner destination. It has character and it's one of those place to check out for fun. Because it's unique. Don't expect anything amazing, just your older local bar.

Small town life needs a bar serving chili right? Fun, TINY little place but we had friendly service and it was open and serving hot food. Chili in Iowa has beans. Most places serve chili without beans. This place has beans! We chatted with the lady and I expressed my support of chili with beans. We got to talking and found out her son competed in a chili competition in our town and has a scholarship to the culinary school here. That's pretty crazy! We both had the chili burger and chips plus a pop. Our bill was really reasonable and we left full!

Happy Burro is one of the few restaurants open in Beatty, at the moment. Stopped in for dinner after hearing good things about their award-winning chili. The restaurant is definitely more of a dive, with outdoor wooden table seating and a small indoor area for the bar and 2 tables. Beware. You can smoke indoors here. Not my thing. Sat outside and got the famous chili. Not sure if they were having an off night...but the chili was...not what I had in mind. Very very salty, had one flavor profile of just RICH, couldn't taste bean from meat. I honestly couldn't even finish it. The server says they make a batch daily in the mornings, so maybe I just came on a bad day. I will not return, but its 1 of 4 restaurants currently available for dinner within a 60 mile radius.

Really cute place with interesting locals. To start with, the chili is fantastic! Complex, layered flavoring with tons of meat! Also had the cheeseburger which is like a homemade burger made on the family grill. Topped off with a frosty beer this was a really fun experience!

We were delighted to find them open on the 4th of July on a long drive from CA to UT - we ordered off the five item menu - bowl of chili, hotdog, chili dog, and frito boat- we went with the last one, some great meaty chili served over Fritos corn chips, with cheese and onions. Yum! We had soda in cans over ice, perfect for midday, but there was quite a crowd having beers on tap, served by a waitress dressed in red with black fishnet stockings and boots, and others were decked out in red, white, and blue as befit the occasion.

Wonderful service from the kind bartender/server! I forgot her name, but she had pretty flowers in her hair. The Frito chili tasted good.

Hutch referred to my wife as "my friend," a couple times which immediately set an uncomfortable tone. Things went further downhill when the chef (if that's the right term, given the state of the breadsticks) approached us aggressively while we were boxing up our food. He raised his voice and said "nobody told me it was for takeout," despite the fact that I had already had a full conversation with Hutch confirming takeout and requesting everything to-go. I hadn't even said a word to the chef and didn't mind packing things up myself due to a simple miscommunication, but his confrontational approach was completely unnecessary. It's hard not to wonder whether the discomfort we experienced had anything to do with the fact that I'm obviously gay, because the overall interaction felt weird, unwelcoming, and tense. I went across the street later to the BBQ place to get food and they treated us like family, so it's not a small town problem. The only reason this isn't a one-star review is because the wings were decent, but I could never imagine coming here again. They also did not have homemade desserts like the other reviews claim (one of the reasons we even came here).

Hidden gem for homemade food!!…read more We brought our kids for dinner and had an unexpectedly great meal--calzones and sourdough pizza, plus homemade cheesecake and brownies. I do not normally get cheesecake but trust me - this is SO good. Everything is made from scratch, including the sourdough, calzone dough, and pizza sauce, and desserts. We ordered personal pizzas, but the large ones looked huge--lots of people were enjoying them in the bar area. When we walked in, we weren't sure what to expect. There are two entrances--one to a busy saloon for adults and was quite busy for a Tuesday), and one to an empty back dining area near the kitchen. We chose the back, which actually turned out great. The chef (been here since August) was very friendly, shared about the food, and makes East Coast-style pizza and calzones (recently moved from New Jersey). His wife makes the desserts I think he said - my kids loved the brownies, and I loved the cheesecake: light, fluffy, and not overly sweet (and I don't usually eat cheesecake!). Very casual, low-key spot with friendly people and truly homemade food.
