We had heard great things about the food, and it was delicious. The only "negative" we could find was the beef shawarma was not quite was tender as the chicken shawarma. But still had good flavor and the French fries were really good. The hummus was freshly made, very smooth, and absolutely delicious. And the large is LARGE (we weren't complaining!). The pitas were fresh, light and fluffy; also delicious. The falafel was good and even better dipped in the hummus. The Arabic salad was light a refreshing. The grape leaves were not my flavor palette preference, but my husband enjoyed them. The chicken shawarma rice bowl was really yummy. The chicken was tender and the whole dish was flavorful. Here is breakdown: Falafel - very good, not GREASY and perfectly cooked Humus - smooth, creamy and not salty. Very well balanced. Only comment is that 1 pita is not enough. I'm not quite sure what I'm missing out on here, but this was by far wildly more disappointing than other Yelpers have reported. Over the course of the Stay-at-Home order, we tried three times to order food - with each interaction more disappointing than the last. Time #1: Called to place an order at 7:50pm, as it said online and their website that they closed at 9pm. They would not take our order, explained they close at 8pm now but won't be updating it anywhere. Time #2: Called at 7:15pm to place an order for pick up at 7:45pm since they close at 8pm. Note we're a half hour away. I was told "we close at 7:40pm". I repeated it - twice - to make sure I was hearing it correctly. And yep - we got turned down bc of their 7:40pm closing. Time #3: Today. Thought hey! We'll try for lunch. It was a half hour for the food to be prepared, but that's fine, it'll be fresh... -The hummus was extremely creamy, but underseasoned and came with nothing to dip in. Thankfully I had naan bread at home but I was quite confused that they'd serve hummus with nothing for dipping? -We ordered - and got charged for - two garlic sauces and only received one. It didn't even taste like garlic. -Chicken schwarma pita tasted underseasoned, and the rice was equally as bland (and cold). -The lamb/Kafta pita was pretty good, as was the Arabic salad and fries. We ordered a lot, as we wanted to support this small business and try a plethora of items, but I'm disappointed with most. I'll stick with the drive out to Downers Grove for Cedar Grill. read more

We have ordered take out from Happy Falafel twice and both times we have been very happy with our meals! The serving sizes are good, the prices are decent and the food is tasty. Good beef and chicken shawarma. Highly recommend their garlic aioli sauce (and they have surprisingly good fries)! The only thing we would recommend as an improvement is the tabouli could use more bulgur (the ratio to parsley is a little rough). Everything was made fresh to order so it took a little longer but I was given a complimentary bowl of soup while I waited which was perfect on this cold night. I ordered a combo bowl with falafel and chicken kabob. It also came with a side of Arabic salad.The falafel was delicious! Light and crispy on the outside and perfect on the inside.
