This was my second time visiting this restaurant. Ever since my first visit, I cannot stop thinking about the great food and knew I had to stop by when I was back in town. The place is very busy so parking can be a bit hard to find but they do have an overflow lot. Inside, they have a seating area where you can wait until you're seated at a table. Both times I've been there the wait time was around 20-30 minutes but trust me, the food is worth the wait. Even though they were busy, our server was attentive and the food didn't take too long to come out. I went with a group and for our appetizer we tried the platter that comes with hummus, baba ganoush, grape leaves, and fresh pita bread. For my drink, I had the lemon mint smoothie...very refreshing. The plates that my husband and I got were the chicken shawarma sandwich with a salad and the filet plate that comes with rice as well as grilled tomato and grilled onion. They give you generous portions which made it possible for me to share some of my meal with someone in my group to try and I still had leftovers. Finally, we could not leave without having dessert. We had knafeh which is made fresh. Everything was amazing and I can't wait to come back next time I visit the Chicagoland area. read more

We recently got the platter for 6 with mixed meats, the one with lamb and the short rib. By far, the short rib is my most favorite dish here. I travel alot for work and pleasure and try middle eastern restaurants in every city I go to, so I was excited to check M'dakhan out. Unfortunately we were a party of 6 going on January 1st, 2026, and the wait was 2 hours, which was understandable since it was a holiday. The wait actually got me more excited to try the food because I knew then that it wasnt going to be just another disappointment! Other than the long wait, the host and server were great! This whole experience was amazing! We came here to celebrate my birthday. We had heard about the quality food and long wait and we got both. The wait on the weekends is long but well worth it because with their system they send you a text when it's 15 min out so you can explore a cafe or do what you need nearby while waiting which is what we did. We started the meal with the chicken cheese panini. It was amazing from the tender meat to the sauce that was inside and the crispy pita and cheese that was melted. Loved this! We ordered the mixed grill which came with hummus and baba. Both dips were tasty and paired well with the food. Another standout dish is the ribs. The tender meat with bbq sauce. Loved this as well. I liked how there was not as much fat on the ribs and felt like they had roasted and braised this meat for hours. Very high recommend. All the other meats and rice were good and last was the kinafa. Terrible experience. Do not get the mansaf bites or the ribs not worth the money at all. The mansaf bites come with not even a crumb of meat it's all rice. Extremely overpriced. Told them i had a bite that was completely rice with not even one bit of meat and they made me open one in front of them to prove it had a tiny amount. You can see the food being made right in front of you, so by the time I sat down I already knew what I was getting. I went for the lamb shank. My best friend and I visited for Mother's Day and had one the best local dining experiences ever! Upon arrival, parking was a little light but they have a lot and we both got spots pretty quickly. The shrimp were perfectly cooked and the garlic butter sauce was full of flavor! For entrees, my best friend had the Lamb Chops and I had the M'dakhan Mixed Grill. We absolutely LOVED our entrees. The meats were accompanied by white and red rice. Everything was flavored well. My favorite meat from the mixed grill was the lamb! The restaurant was fairly loud as it was very crowded for Mother's Day. We had an amazing server and the entire staff was friendly and welcoming. They also had a gentlemen passing by with small tastings of something similar to espresso. It was hot and smoky. It was a nice touch after dinner. I had the M'DaKhan Mixed Grill (kufta, shish kabab, chicken tawook), the Grilled Jumbo Shrimp, and finished with their Kunafah (cheese dessert). We arrived at the restaurant around 5:00 p.m. and thought it would be easy to get a table, but the restaurant was pretty much packed on a Saturday night at that time. We put our name down on the waiting list and got a table 10 minutes later, which is not bad at all. Our waiter took our order but wasn't able to answer some questions regarding the dishes and recommendations. I looked at Yelp reviews for advice on what to order. We ordered the hummus with meat, the chicken and cheese paninis, and mansaf bites for appetizers. For our entree, we ordered the ribs. The portions were amazing for the prices and we left satisfied and content. Although the restaurant decor is very welcoming and the food is hearty, the service was overwhelming. They kept on clearing our tables fast while we wanted to keep our plates. I was about to get second helpings but my plate was already gone. There were 3 to 4 servers just hovering. They cleared out plates but never asked if we needed more water or drinks. Dessert menu was not suggested either. Our table definitely felt rushed since the restaurant is not fast food.
