My HOA has used them many times when Republic Waste went on strike, our association of 65 units became a heaping landfill but Happy Hauling took over, cleaning everything out and continued their services for over a month until the strike ended. Contacted Happy Hauling via the form on their website. We had some unique items that I shared with pics and Josh was available next day to come by for an estimate. We had two old clothesline poles that were dug out and set in a lot of concrete. We estimate they were 300 lbs each. Josh and his team made easy work of it. I am embarrassed that it has taken me this long to write a review for Josh and his son, Blake. My apologies!!! It was during one of the wettest season last winter in November 2022 when I contacted Josh and several others for an estimate. I inquired about breaking down a concrete section in the patio that I lifted from roots. The section had to be cleared since I was getting the property in Vista ready for rental. I also had connections with a dump in Poway where I asked if he could haul the concrete to save me money on dumping fees. Josh was willing to work with my requirements. While he was not the only service I contacted, I decided to go with Josh because of his courteousness, responsiveness, and professional demeanor over the phone. Sometimes...when you make a decision to work with a new contractor, you never know what you are getting and hope that he delivers. It was POURING RAIN and Josh contacted me that he was on his way. I was shocked he was willing to work in this weather. And when I say pouring rain, it was dark, gloomy, windy, and wet. He showed up with his son, Blake. Our DIY back yard makeover project started 2 summers ago but could never gain speed mainly because of the huge amount of soil generated from having to dig out 4" of old sod. We tried to get rid of the dirt a little at a time with weekly trash pickups. And that took FOREVER. Now 2 years have passed and we still have ugly old lawn. We could already have beautiful new lawn with drought resistance ground covers by now if we had all of the old sod removed in a timely manner. Late this summer we decided that it was time to pay a professional to have the 4" of dirt dug out and hauled away. Our due diligence research has narrowed down to Happy Hauling, Inc. Their price seemed very fair and reasonable and they worked on the weekend to accommodate our work schedule. They started the job without any down payment. We paid in full after we were completely happy with the work. Our project started promptly at 8:30am on a Friday and ended by 9:30am on a Sunday. They removed ~ 20 cubic yards of dirt. Over the course of 20 years, we have dealt with many different contractors for many different projects. We can honestly say that Happy Hauling was our most pleasant one. Josh, owner, was very responsive and kept us informed from start to finish. His father, Theo led a teams of several men who worked tirelessly in the hot sun. We cannot thank Theo enough for going out of his way to do extra work to purchase and install 2 surface drains for us. We only asked if he or Josh could recommend someone to install the drains. He bought parts and installed them at NO additional costs--Wow, that is customer service above and beyond like no others! It was not easy because he ran into roots, rocks and sprinkler lines. He had to make more trips to Home Depot to get parts that would work for our situation. Even though he refused to charge us for the extra work and materials, we were glad that he accepted our generous tips. He is Mr. 5-star all the ways and so is his son, Josh. We will definitely use their service again without hesitation when we need any hauling services in the future, like redoing our front yard. We have already recommended Happy Hauling to a relative who just bought a home in Alpine. We know that they too will be very happy with the outstanding services that Josh and Theo provide. Josh is very respectful and a likeable personality. No job is small for him and he would work with you to your satisfaction. A true professional. With that said, here's a true story... Our backyard backs up to a small hill and one winter night a bulb lighted up in my mind to widen the yard... on my own. My wife didn't think it was a good idea but that's a different story and not for yelp. So, I dug up the yard and didn't realize where the dirt would go with all the digging. With literally sitting on about 22 cu.yds of dirt, I started looking for haulers. Got a couple of estimates and selected one to haul all the dirt away. Now enter Josh from Happy Hauling.
