As I walked inside through a couple doors, the place resembled a high-end men's clothing store with suits, sport coats, and dress pants lining the walls. Was this really it ? I knew better not to ask whether or not this place is legal. In the middle was an island with a couple bar stools and a 'bartender' inside of the island. A couple TVs were set up to ESPN. I sat alone on the bar stool, expecting the other guys standing [who all seemed to know each other] to switch to their native Mediterranean languages. Responding to my query of their selection, the 'bartender' was kind and took me to the back with a refrigerated cooler of assorted microbrew and domestics for $2-3 a bottle (this was $1 off their normal price, I remember). Behind the island, I saw shelves with assorted liquors. The sales staff did not pressure me to buy anything or look at any clothing, maybe just one gentle question if I was interested in anything.. The only caveat, is that they're only open to 9-5 M-F from what I remember. The experience was little surreal and gave me a great story. Any time that I want a quick drink downtown without dealing any drunks or any coworkers, I'd recommend it.

Without success, I'd been looking for holiday-related gifts for co-workers, that weren't silly, Disney character-related, juvenile, or something they'd already have or would likely receive. It had to be unique and affordable---but for no more than about $12. I found every gift here. Gifts Unlimited had the perfect selection of well-made and out-of-the-ordinary, but instead of choosing 3 or 4 different items, I opted for all the same in the two diffferent color choices. Pine Cones! Gold and Silver, life-size, life-like, textured, shiny/matte finish on each, sparkly, and quite heavy. Festive, decorative, and holiday-themed paper weights! A dieing what-not. But so cute. They used them, too---or at least displayed them---and no fights or comparing who got what. Sorry I never kept one for myself. Since then, this well-stocked shop has never disappointed. Same thing happened yesterday. I found the perfect, inexpensive gift for someone who already has everything she needs. I'd been looking for something small to display on a window sill or bathroom cabinet. Perfect. Cat-related. Was originally 19.00, and reduced to just 11.50. I'm sure you'll find a delightful, well-priced item here, too. Though small, the floor plan is very interesting and well-thought-out---like an easily-maneuvered, customer-friendly maze. The probably three dozen different displays are like little vignettes---each featuring a particular theme or material---whether on wood cabinets, tables, or glass shelving. In addition to the many hundreds of unique gift items and collectibles, you'll find the expected cards, gift wrapping, and small stained glass window ornaments. This is definitely a place to check out. It was a real pleasure. Especially when I found the perfect gift---again---and had two very friendly, happy-to-work-there, good-natured women to assist me.

To be ignored the whole time we shopped around the store as some of the only patrons there makes for a very frustrating shopping experience for someone with my retail expectations, and they're lucky we still bought some things. I either have one of those faces, or a simple "Hi, welcome!" is way too much to ask in some parts of Cleveland. Some of the items are nice but nothing you can't find at the Cleveland Flea if you're looking for local goods. I have no need or desire to come back.

I ended up purchasing an item; hence, the reason I am writing this review. WHAT (type of store) -- Magically Found is a quirky shop filled with random items such as candles, cards, tea cups, etc. The owner was super friendly during my visit. She explained that this shop has what a grandmother living in an English cottage would keep at her house. ITEMS -- The owner explained this to be a witchy store hence the name "Magic" is in the store name. I am not into witch things neither do I believe in that but the store has many other items to buy. They sell matches, candles, candle stick holders, tea cups, and other random items. I bought a little square container ($9) that has a strawberry shaped top/cover. It can be used for anything such as to put earrings in or even cubed sugar. I still haven't decided what I'll use mine for but it is in my kitchen for now. I never knew this store existed in Lakewood but I'm glad to have stopped by. I've now shopped here multiple times and am always impressed by the thoughtful selections she so expertly curates. Whether you need a gift, want to buy yourself something, or just want your vibrations raised, this is the place to go. The store is just a feast for your eyes. It has a strong Practical Magic flare to it (and you may even hear its magical soundtrack playing). Dried herbs and flowers hang from the ceiling, taper candles are nestled into the most unsuspecting corners, and vintage wares are everywhere to be discovered. Rebecca self-describes her shop as "Eclectic Granny Decor, Cottage Witch Vibes" according to Instagram. As I type this, I have a taper candle made with dried flowers burning inside of a vintage owl holder. I love this shop and could truly buy everything in here. Rebecca is so creative and makes a number of the store products and is always putting together speciality boxes (think Taylor Swift themed, etc.). This shop is a mix of antiques, gifts, and Christmas items. Collectibles, beautiful items to admire, greeting cards, and lots of ornaments and decorations. I can't wait to bring husband back to actually spend some time and money! The best part of Hixsons really is the story behind the founder and the new owners. We chatted with Matthias' girlfriend who was so welcoming and friendly. She told us about the history and the vision they have for continuing Bill's legacy and we were so touched.
