After waiting another 20-30 minutes, we went to the cashier only to be told that we should have ordered it at the front counter. If that had been explained to us earlier, we could have done so right away and avoided wasting more time. The food was enjoyable, but the poor communication and slow service left us disappointed. I didn't respond and simply waited until we were ready to order, which only took about four minutes. What confused and upset me was that shortly after, a white man came in and she told him he could sit down, take his time, and order whenever he was ready because "it's not busy." The difference in treatment was very noticeable and honestly made me uncomfortable as an African-American woman. Maybe this was a misunderstanding, but the interaction did not sit right with me. I believe every customer should be treated with the same patience and respect, especially first-time customers who are simply trying to understand how the restaurant works.
