This review is for their bubble waffle, which I had the pleasure of trying one evening while on a business trip to Federal Way. My coworker and his family and I came in a weeknight and it was surprisingly busy. We ordered the plain bubble waffle and the oreo one. It took a few minutes for them to bake, and the smell in the shop was heavenly. We received the waffles and were on our way to walk back to the hotel. It was a perfect portable snack for cold weather. The waffles themselves looked pristine and perfect. They were a little crispy on the outside and chewy once you got to eating them. To my surprise, the bubbles were hallow! I was actually thankful because I prefer desserts that aren't too dense. Only complaint was that the oreo waffle tasted nothing like Oreo! It was seriously just a plain waffle with some speckles in it. It could have used more Oreos. Perhaps next time, a dipping sauce would have been good! read more

Poor service. Made one of two of my drinks wrong. They took forever and a day to take my order, took them a long time to make my order, and then 1/3 of my drinks was incorrect. And, the tables were gross. They needed to be bussed! I have visited this spot a few times and can happily say that the drinks and food have been consistently satisfying, the space is clean, and the service is decent enough where you will get your order correct and they are professional. The drink orders come out pretty fast. As for the bubble waffles, they arrive not too long after. As for the ambiance, you will see their adorable mascot just being cute with the lemony color palette used in their furniture and decor. Glad Federal Way has a Happy Lemon! Pros: clean location, ample parking, offers a fair amount of seating, offers everything you'd expect a Happy Lemon to have Cons: service was not good. It was very slow and unfriendly. Workers were very quiet and hard to hear above the music. They also seemed to have difficulty with eye contact (e.g. when we were at the register to order, the cashier did not look up so I couldn't tell if she was ready for us or not; the girl making waffles couldn't seem to look at me when trying to figure out which waffle was for my order) and none of them seemed to work together. The drink we got was a smoothie but was not blended well so it was full of ice crystals. I've had Happy Lemon smoothies before at other locations but did not have this issue. I just let it melt for a bit and it tasted better so that was it easy fix, but still a bummer The cons weren't huge deals but didn't leave a great impression so I do not plan to come back soon. If I was wandering around the mall the Happy Lemon was attached to, sure I may drop by, but wouldn't specifically seek out this location. read more

I've never been disappointed with drinks at Happy Lemon before, so I was surprised when the Taro Milk Tea with boba tasted so bad (overly sweet and the taro powder tasted artificial). I liked the Roasted milk tea (tastes like hojicha) much better. To be fair, I usually get something with Salted Cheese, but didn't feel like anything heavy. So we came back to give it another chance , but I don't know what's wrong but it's like they don't listen or just don't pay attention at all . We mentioned so many times we don't want any ice because we didn't want it to water down by the time we drop it off to our destination . We stopped in here because we had just gone to dinner and then headed to a movie. Never have been here so I asked for a recommendation from the staff. She was friendly, asked a few questions, and then made her recommendation, which I did enjoy. It was one of the salted cheese series with boba. Certainly a different experience but it was good and I would get it again. I also ordered a waffle and decided to try the matcha flavored one. While it was good, it was not as good as the regular waffle, which I got to try because one of our friends that was with us ordered it. I do think it's a bit pricy to charge for the butters to go with the waffle when they really do need it to enjoy them. The place was fairly clean but there really wasn't a trash can to dispose of our cups and wrappers, only a tiny waste basket by the door which was very strange. Because the menu items are varying from a regular boba place, I would certainly go back and try other things on the menu and would recommend you try it too! read more

Been here twice so far since my daughter loved their strawberry shortcake smoothie. But, she said their lychee jelly was little flavorless. My son didn't liked their milk tea bc it was too strong. So happy that there's a Happy Lemon FW location now! They're located right of Bath and Body Works (by Target). The trays are too big for the cups and they don't hold the drinks very well so it accidentally knocked over a couple of times in my car. I wished the drinks came with the mini yellow lemon caps like their Tukwila location. Cute interior decor and good drinks! They have a few seating areas for small groups. Finally a happy lemon on the south end. I've been to multiple happy lemons before and everything they do are very consistent. I was happy to see this location but they are soooo slooooooow! It wasn't very busy, but it took forever to get our one drink and one bubble waffle. There were two workers and they were super friendly but seemed to have a more laid back approach and just worked a little slower. I think I am comparing to the only other Happy Lemon, which is in Bellevue who is constantly busy and gets the orders out quick and efficiently. read more

Words can not express how excited I am that Happy Lemon has arrived in Federal Way! Their recipe for rock salt crema is unmatched, and the rock salt crema at the Federal Way location is no exception. I came for the grand opening where they were offering a buy one get one free promotion for select drinks. I got the rock salt crema milk tea and egg waffle. The rock salt crema milk tea met my expectations as far as the franchise goes. The crema has a rich, thick, mild salty flavor that is distinct to Happy Lemon. The milk tea had a nice flavor and you have the option to customize ice and sweetness. The egg waffle was just okay. I'm accustomed to them making it fresh to order. For the grand opening, they were making a lot of the egg waffles in advance so that they were ready to go. Although I got my waffle quickly, it didn't taste as fresh because it had been sitting. It still had a crispy outside and soft, chewy interior that makes Happy Lemon egg waffles one of my absolute favorites. I'm hoping they make the waffles fresh to order in the future. I don't come to the Commons often, but I will be stopping by much more to visit Happy Lemon! read more

Sadly beverages, food, and services has gone way down hill. I order led the roasted milk tea cold, however what I got was boba milk tea in a hot cup. When I had ask the cashier who took my order if this was correct, she just said that's what all our milk tea comes in now. I had this at the Tukwila location before and it was always in a clear up. I ordered ube fresh milk with boba and added puff cream with 100% ice and 100% sugar. I didn't realize 100% ice means the whole cup is filled with ice. I barely had the drink. When I tried to get boba it wasn't coming through the straw. I found out the boba was all stuck together. It was a waste of money because the toppings are .75 cents. It took about 40 minutes to get my order of just two very simple drinks (one milk tea and one lemon black tea with no modifications or toppings) each of the three times I've given this location a chance. The last time I was there, only one person was in front of me ordering one drink and it still took 40 minutes for them to get my order out. Whatever system they are using is inefficient and the owner of this location should pay better attention to fix this. To add to the frustration, the first two times we ordered from here there were plenty of workers but still no drinks were coming out at a consistent rate. The drinks taste fine, but no boba spot is worth spending nearly an hour to get your drinks from. Customer service is an equal part of the equation to a successful business and when no one is showing any sense of urgency it translates to a disregard of the customer's satisfaction . It's not great. They got our order wrong, and they can't switch tea bases which sucks. They added cheese to one of our drinks when we never asked for any of the cheese options. I assumed they knew they messed up and then gave us a random free drink. Just go across the street and go to boba lust if you want boba. read more
