My wonderful daughter decided to surprise me with a $200.00 Gift certificate at Happy Maids as a birthday present for our 1,649 square foot home. I have always maintained my own cleaning impeccably and with a demanding career, this certainly seemed like a treat! Like I mentioned, my home is well kept and I just really wanted the bathrooms, kitchen cabinets and floors deep cleaned. I dusted and polished my living room, dining room, family room and bedroom before the cleaning ladies arrived. In addition, all beds were made except for one. I had them skip the basement as well. All of this in an attempt to not go over the $200.00 Gift amount. Yesterday I discovered that I was charged an additional $220.00! When I called up to try and get an explanation to quantify what exactly determined this amount, I was told that a business cleaning company has more expenses involved versus an independent cleaning person. While the cleaning was very good, I definitely feel like we were ripped off at the absurd price considering the decent condition of my house and the minimal amount of labor that was involved. When the cleaning ladies arrived and I walked them around my house and explained everything that I wished to have done, they seemed shocked. They informed me that they were instructed to be there for 3 hours. It actually only took them only 2 and 1/2 hours. My well intended birthday present actually ended up costing me dearly. The $200.00 was fair for the work that was done. However, the additional $220.00 billed to me was absolutely outrageous. I will never use this company ever again. read more

I bought a coupon for Happy Maids online and must say it was a good decision. Maggie, the scheduler, was really helpful and worked on getting the booking schedule suitable for my requirements. You can make use of their walk through to decide before hand about their cleaning arrangements. I used their event cleaning service and was pleased that I did not have to break my back cleaning up after my husband's birthday party, well within my budget. I'm not really sure why everyone is giving this company bad reviews... my family and I used them after Thanksgiving because we had over 50 people over the night before and they did an awesome job. Not only were they friendly people but they didn't make much noise and went through the house quickly and efficiently. The price wasn't an issue at all - my family paid for it - but the two women who came by were very nice. I offered them water and it seemed like it made their day; like it was such a shock to have been treated nicely by people. They didn't assume anything and asked a couple separate times if it was okay to move or clean something and wanted to make sure they were doing a good job. Terribly disappointed from the start. 45 min late without phone call in advance of lateness. purchased a Living Social Certificate with undersanding we had 2 women for one hour (in other words with Living Social as claimed, $45/hr for 2 cleaners with discount) This they told us, would normally equate to $45 per hour/ per person! crazy!!) 3 women ended up showing saying they have a total of 40 min total with us. Because of their limited time, I asked to have cleaned only my upstairs. Their only accompolishment was cleaning 2.5 baths, and dusting one of 4 bedrooms. No vacuming, or other bedrooms touched. They offered to stay, but couldn't tell me what their additional charge would be. Would NEVER recommend again! They did a great job scrubbing down and removing the iron clad stuff from my mater shower. Other than that again, would NEVER RECOMMEND! read more

I have been using Happy Maids for many many years. They've always done a pretty good job cleaning, but the last couple of years I keep finding little stuff broken here and there. The last time I had them at my house was months ago (& then left for the winter). They did not finish cleaning a small bathroom of mine & I was a bit perturbed (having tipped them extra money when they were finished, it was obvious they were in a hurry). Shame on me for not checking (I also needed to be somewhere) & I did not do a once over. I bring this up because I just noticed as I pulled up some blinds (I usually keep closed in there), that they had broken my window & did not bother to tell me. I should have known better then to sign up with a cleaning company that has to offer deep discounts through groupon to attract companies. I signed up for a five pack cleaning package through them. They just do not know how to clean! Kitchen counters were still dirty, streaks on appliances, inside microwave not cleaned, the few dishes that were in the sink they attempted to clean but cup still had milk on it and bowl still had yogurt on them, kids bathroom wasn't mopped, both bathtubs were not cleaned, sinks were wiped down but did not shine, mirrors are streaky. Also with lack of availability there is no way to use all the services paid for before they expire. read more

Found this company after I needed our office cleaned after a company party. They offered us a pretty decent deal. The job was done just fine. Couldn't complain. What I will say is they got the wine stains of the tables and got the dust buildup in the desks that have been left unattended for months now. I'd definitely refer them to others. We hired them to clean our apartment and paid for the $225 move out package deal since our landlord asked us to have it professionaly clean. The place was vacant! You would think it would be easier to clean. Our landlord called us and was dissatisfied with the job they did. She found hair on shelves, the shower head wasn't wiped down, there were a few areas that it seemed that were not touch, didn't even wiped inside the dishwasher as it states on their website that they will do. It also states that they would spot clean walls, I found toothpaste just a few inches above the sink, clearly visible. They sent three girls and it seemed all the did was swept, mop, and wiped main surfaces. Our landlord had to hire a different company to come in and clean it a second time at our expense. We called, sent pictures showing proof and asked for our money back and the owner was very rude and is refusing to give us a refund. Horrible service and horrible experience over all. To start off, this cleaning service seemed great Although the cleaning ladies sat in their cars for an hour before coming in because they were waiting for their supervisor to come, (making them 45 minutes late), they did a great job cleaning the house. We were ready to hire them again....until today. I noticed on my credit card bill that the charge was 75 dollars more than the receipt had indicated. A family member called the company to ask why the discrepancy in price, and unfortunately her responses were really rude. I picked up the phone because Joanna (customer service lady) and my family member were not getting along. I started to try and smooth things out, and unfortunately Joanna was rude to me. I ended up losing my temper with her and saying some things that I regret, but over all the service from her was horrible. I was not trying to get out of paying the price --we asked for a deep cleaning and that is what we got. Just was trying to understand the difference in price of the receipt (and what I was told over the phone) and the price that it charged my credit card. I am sad to say that we will not be using this company anymore due to the impolite manner of their employee (who said she was also a manager). Very disappointed. read more

I gave specific instructions to the owner as to what rooms I wanted cleaned and what rooms the team was to stay out of. I left a written list as well, which my 22 year old daughter who was home when they arrived, gave to them, and went to her room while they cleaned. I walked in during the last 5 minutes and not only had they not done the two tasks I prioritized (kitchen & 3 bathrooms) but had gone into areas of the house I had specifically requested they should not go into. I started using Happy Maids about 2 years ago, setting myself up to have my 3 bedroom, 2 bath home cleaned every 3 weeks. I do the basics but I wanted someone to take the time to thoroughly dust, vacuum, and clean our wood floors. I have been disappointed from time to time, but now it seems every time I come home after their cleaning I find multiple things that haven't been done (kitchen floor wasn't even swept, we have several items that have mysteriously broke or we find broken and my husband I don't have kids or any other 'force' that would break things, cleaning supplies used on our sink aren't wiped off properly, etc). I will be leaving them soon and want to warn those that are thinking of using them. I've also shopped around a little and found their pricing to not be competitive. read more

My household has been using Happy Maids for several years and they have gotten increasingly worse over time. While they are nice, they just do not do a very good job. For example, I have to remove everything from the shower before they come because they will not clean under things, just around. Another horrible habit is they NEVER arrive when they say they will, and are usually several hours late. They have no comprehension of how to treat electronics and they have been caught spraying windex and other harsh chemicals directly on to computer LCD screens. Worst cleaning service I have every used and the service is incredibly over priced. If you want to have to clean your bathroom mirrors and the top of your toilet tank, dust your entire house and re-mop your floors after paying $90 per hour, then go ahead and call Happy Maids! When I called to set up the service I was told that I would need to have two cleaning people for 2-1/2 hours at $90/hour...$270 to clean 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, a small kitchen and a living room. I had a Living Social coupon for 1/2 off of one hour, so I would only have to pay $225 to have 1400 sq ft cleaned. I felt duped and did not opt to pay more than the L.S. deal price. Buyer BEWARE! There is rarely such a thing as a deal, but this is was truly a scam. Enough said...I have to get back to cleaning my house! read more
