The filing on my thumb is crooked, polish is too thick, nail surface is uneven, cuticles were uncut - overall, they look like they're a week and a half old. Tina is the absolute best! I moved out here 2 years ago and was recommended happy nails. Found my girl Tina and am always happy when I get my nails done here. All the staff is truly awesome as I've had other girls do my nails and feet. Super clean, and professional. Recently they got a new owner and a name change to Ant nails. Glad all the girls are still there, and the place looks beautiful with a slight remodel. I drive from downtown crystal lake with 10 other salons around me just to come here. My cousin took me here after several bad darling experiences and I loved it! The manicure was $12 and worth every penny. My nails look awesome and the whole service took less than 45 minutes in and out. I love that. My cousin got her set refilled and painted custom tips and they look awesome. Her eyebrow wax is also excellent. The services are priced absolutely right and the ladies are super sweet. Went here last fall for my daughters birthday since they had what appeared from photos, to be a really cute area for little girls to get there nails done. First, we made an appointment for two girls. They were busy when we got there so they sent one tech over to start on my oldest. The second tech didn't come over until the first one was done. Which means my daughters didn't get their nails done together. The Little Miss Kitty chairs they had them sitting in were torn and tattered and it took them a minute to figure out which ones were fully operational. My last complaint is my biggest. If you have little girls coming in, you should not schedule them with a grown man since the little girls leg has to rubbed and massage. I feel like that's common sense. It was a bad experience overall for my daughters. So such so, that I'm still thinking about it almost a year later read more

Very disappointed. I have been coming here for a while and had been happy. I had no chip mani and pedi for $60 before vacation. In about 10 days about 5 of my nails were totally chipped. When I returned from my vacation I went back and show them how poorly my nails had chipped. I was told that they would redo my nails for $25 but that only included removing the nail Polish and just polishing the nails. After about 5 days my nails chipped again. I went to the store and attempted to talk to them again but they did not have time to talk to me. I find their customer service to be very poor and will not return there again. I would not recommend going there Because I have to at least give it a star that is all it gets however it doesn't even deserve one star read more

Really disappointed in this place. I don't get my nails done often. But have been the last few months. The last time I went the quality of my gel fill was very poor. The gel was bubbly on two nails and the polish was uneven. I decided to try another place today only to learn that happy nails has been giving me gel nails and charging me for gel polish, but putting regular nail polish on! I did not know the difference since I rarely ever do nails. I'm really disappointed as I've always gone here and taken my family members here. read more

I wish I could give no stars. My mom and I went on a Saturday the service was terrible and the smell in there was so bad it smelled like sewer. They were very rude and the guy who did my full set did not do a good job at all. I had to go somewhere else later to have them fixed. My nails were so uneven the lady at the other salon couldn't believe that a "professional" salon did them. I went to this salon about a week ago for an eyebrow wax. Terrible. The esthetition came in while still chewing her lunch. Hardly even looked at my eyebrows before going at them with a sissors (which I always thought happened last). I should have stopped there when I felt something was wrong. She ended up completely taking a good chunk out of my inner right eyebrow. It was so uneven. Going to be several weeks at least before this can get back to normal. So frustrating. They have three price points: $25 basic (about 30 mins), deluxe was $35 and had more massage, and no chip for $45. 2 of us had manicures. Both polishes came off within 24hrs. Neither one of did anything harsh with our hands to cause it. Entire nail polish came off on 2 nails and the others had huge chunks flake off. Never seen such thin, cheap quality polish used in 30+ years of getting manicures. I have had my nails done by 4 different technicians at this salon on 3 different occasions and I've been fairly pleased. I only found 1 of the 4 to be really personable but I'm not a chatty kind of gal, I'm also horrible with names. The first visit on a Sunday morning I was extremely impressed with my gel set with no chip polish (blue) and french pedicure done by a younger male. This led to my second visit gel fill-in done by an older male who did an ok job with the black and white, little sloppy with the cleanup around the edges upon closer inspection. French pedicure was not as precise as I'd like but the tech was so pleasant I didn't mention it. I was a little disappointed overall but decided to try it one more time. Third time's the charm. I went midweek, decided to go with a regular pearl color for my toes and a silver no chip for my gel fill in. Jenny (I believe her name was) did a nice job using a hard to work with polish and my eyebrow wax. She paid close attention to detail. NB. I've visited first thing in the morning on each occasion as a walk-in and they are always busy so plan to spend time there or make an appointment. Extensive selection of polishes. Very clean. Had to downgrade my rating based on the experience with my daughter... Again, my pedicure was great and the place was clean and the people were really nice. My 10yo daughter had a pedicure and they charged her the adult rate. They also tacked on another $5 for painting a flower on her toe. I loved this place, if you go do not let the old woman touch your nails. She was horrendous. I went to get a new set of acrylics....she didn't soak them and all and just ripped them off. After telling her it hurts she said sorry and began using scissors to rip them off instead. Then she put new ones on...began filing and cut through my cuticles so bad I was bleeding. This place is just ok. I love that they'll do kids nails. However they're not what I call "kid friendly". Meaning, they're not exactly overly nice to the kids in any way. Also, although I saw them put a top coat on my daughters nails, her nail polish came off on 3 different fingers basically two hours after it was done, and this was without as any heavy playing. Then, there's the fact that the girl cut me. When I said "oh, it looks like you cut me" she whispered softly so quiet that I hardly even heard her. Um....hello? I'm bleeding. A little over a month ago I heard Happy Nails was under new ownership so I decided to give them a try. I've since been back a few times for my second dip manicure and my second pedicure. This is by far the best salon in the area! They take their time with each customer and are very meticulous! I always call ahead and make an appointment and I've never had to wait more than a few minutes. I've had several of the techs - Mee (the new owner), Lana and Tina and they are all excellent! Mee just did a beautiful pink and white dip powder and it's the prettiest I've ever had. I've also had 2 spa pedicures that lasted a full hour. It's so nice to finally have nail services that last. In the past I would get a no chip that started peeling after 2 weeks. My dip powder from Happy Nails still looked great after almost 4 weeks! My sister has also gone a few times when she's in town and loves it! Oh and my husband has gone twice for spa pedicures and has been very happy! I went to happy nails to get a no chip manicure. The atmosphere and experience when getting my nails done was fine, but the next day my nails were already chipping off and did not look like I had just spent $60 on them. When I went back to get them fixed, the staff was not friendly or eager to fix the problem. They told me I couldn't even come in that day to fix my nails. when I did come in they were obviously angry. I don't think I've ever been this dissatisfied with a nail salon before. I didn't know a basic manicure would be so hard. Not only was did my nails turn out terrible, I was continuously pressured to get a no chip manicure because "it looks nicer", after I politely mentioned I was broke and could not afford a 45 dollar manicure the service decreased. My nails were barely filed or given a shape, my cuticle were barely touched and the nail polish spills over my nail beds. I am not typically one to complain but I was furious. Let's get straight to it! I go to the location because it's very close to my home and I'm new to the area and not interested in venturing far so it is conveniently located for me. 1st time I went the young lady working was so nice and talkative and did a great job, 2nd time I went I got a man, again very nice didn't do exactly what I asked but my nails still turned out good so I can't complain. 3rd time I went I asked for a pedicure and to remove my gel nails and gel polish. I made an appointment and explained what I needed over the phone. I walked in got asked to sit and table 9. I was confused because they usually have you do your pedicure first but I am not a nail professional so what do I know? Then they realized what I was in for and asked me to move to the pedicure chair, so I move I ask the lady if they have different option pedicures because this is my 1st time getting a pedicure here, she didn't understand what I was saying so I dropped it and just let her do her job, I then asked her to file my nails so they were straight and again she didn't understand what I was asking for. I'm done getting my feet done and now they do my hands, I kinda wish they would have let my nails soak while I was sitting getting a pedicure because now this is wasting Time. The lady doing my nails was very nice and friendly but when I asked for a certain nail polish that I saw they had 3weeks ago when I was there she had no idea what I was talking about. I kinda felt like I was speaking Klingon because no one could understand what I was asking for! I don't usually go to this salon but a friend of mine that I don't get to spend much time with invited me to go...and looking at the outgrowth on my nails...I accepted. My first impression was that this place looked clean and that's always a number one when it comes to nail salons for me. But beyond that..I hated my experience there. I'm not sure of the man's name who was doing my fill but he was very rude and very aggressive with his movements and handling of my fingers. If my hand wasn't exactly how he wanted it he would grab it and force it into position. I was very close to getting up and walking out. Overall, my nails look ok. They aren't very willing to do any fun designs but they are cheap. Cost me 30 bucks for a gel fill and polish (two colors). But sadly, I won't be returning unless it's an emergency. I cannot say enough good things about this salon! When my previous salon changed ownership, I went on the hunt for someone that could "handle my difficult nails. I called Happy Nails and spoke to the owner Ann. I explained that my nails lift very easily and need to see someone that truly understands what I need. She explained that she had a few clients with this issue and assured me that she could do them. Getting an appointment with her has always been fairly easy as well. She is a popular woman but she also works six days a week! She is very active and attentive to her business. She cares about the quality of work that comes out of her salon. There should be something noted for a business that has been around for such a long time and has not shown the typical turnover that most businesses like hers have experienced. If you havent tried them out, please do yourself a favor and make an appointment. They even have little Hello Kitty salon chairs and can host little girls birthday parties! We (my Mom & I) both had pedicures/manicures there, and the nail technician cut one of us during a pedicure & played it off as though it wasn't a big deal, and they were overall not detailed at all, or exact during their services & the work looked sloppy & rushed. My requirements: - clean - friendly - willing to work a little longer to get your manicure/full set/polish the way you want it - they are open to listening to what you want (you'd be amazed how many nail techs don't) - accommodating of walk ins (thought I try to call first to make sure) The owners themselves work behind the desks and are very friendly. They always remember you by name, and anything you may have told them last time you were in. Also, if you just want to just sit and relax, there is no pressure to chat, and vice versa. I typically get full sets and fills when I am here, but from talking with others next to me, their no chip mannies are fantastic. Check them out. You'll be happy you did.
