I hate to leave a negative review, but this one is necessary. I got a dip nail and a no chip pedicure. Upon arrival, there were no cars in the parking lot and no customers(maybe a sign). They took me right away, soaked off my old dip for over 30 min in acetone. Pedicure was fine, nothing special. I've had much better. My nails is where it went wrong. She used the nail drill on my skin and cut me and made me bleed. Nails were done and I was satisfied. I woke up the next day and had a chip in my nail already. I went back the next day and she fixed it. Now, a day after that, another nail completely chipped. I've never had this happen and after spending over $100 plus tip, I will not be returning. *** edited*** Not even a week later and 2 more nails completely cracked. I have NEVER had this happen to me. Dip nails turned out okay. The nail file used was completely bare, it could hardly shape my nails. I had to ask for adjustments several times. The nail shape was inconsistent throughout the service. I like going here due to the fact some of the nail salons in my area don't know the definition of gentle. Last no chip mani I had (not at VV) they filed the tops of my nails down so bad I had to visit my doctor. I didn't find out until I had the no chip polish professionally taken off. No joke. Here they are gentle and listen. Per my doctor I have to let my nails grow back so I go to VV for my pedicures. read more

This place is hit or miss. I have been going there for years, but I have decided to stop going. The last time I went for a pedicure, the gentleman, who was nice and all, shaved off a portion of my foot that I would like back. The manicure also chipped after one day. Was there for pedis with my friend. Made a 12:30 appointment and got taken at 1:05. Water in tub was cold. My friend asked twice to put warm in and a girl dumped 2 pans of water out and tried again. Still cold. And my friend told her it was still cold. No apology for being 35 minutes late. No conversation only talking in Vietnamese the whole time. I complimented the girls hair and that's the only thing she said in English. Not friendly at all. Sign on the wall saying $3.00 extra for a file to use on nails and bring your own but never said that when appointment was made so that would have made a regular pedi $33. So paid $30 for pedi and they didn't file my nails? Big toe had a burr(sharp piece) which came off and damaged the big toe color. Was there last Wednesday. Disappointing. Was trying to find a place between our homes. Won't be going back there. I will say it was clean and they followed cdc recommendations for taking temperature and signing a form. read more

I went here to get a gel fullset put on because I just didn't have time to get it done at the salon I work at and it takes me too much time to do it myself. As a nail tech myself I have pretty high expectations. Lee did a good job on my full set. He didn't just rip off my tips when removing, he took his time to soak them off although I don't really agree with the whole idea of soaking my fingers in a bowl of acetone, I would have preferred them wrapped with cotton, acetone and foil. I had a few nails on my right hand that were crooked and had some leftover gel under my nail but I just fixed it when I got home. My full set was thin and natural looking which was my ultimate main concern. I was pleasantly surprised. I am glad I didn't end up with lumpy, thick nails like I've seen from many other places. I painted them myself when I got home. The salon was clean. Some of the technicians and the owner greeted me. I'm just very glad they fit me in last minute because I know how it is on those long days. read more

This was my first time here. I brought my daughter and I to get our nails and feet done for my brother's wedding tomorrow. It was packed on a Thursday afternoon but they were very quick. I don't have my nails done often - it's a treat and honestly, I prefer to spend my money on my grandchildren. But summer is coming and I do wear sandles, but I'm not pretentious so maybe the fact that I don't appear to have money (wearin' 'the brands', ) had something to do with why they treated me with so VERY LITTLE interest?? Anyway, my visit here played out like this: I walked in and a super BLAND, UNFRIENDLY lady came to the front to greet?? me. No pleasantries - not hello, no smile, nothing - just, what do you need? I answered a pedicure and was told, in sort of a mumble - with a point to the wall, pick a color. Sooo I picked a color. She then unenthusiasticly steered me to a chair. So I sit down, and the next thing I know, another client comes in the door. She tells me that she has to do her - I don't know if she forgot an appointment or what - and she precedes to tell me that I can have an older man, sitting in a corner at the end of the chairs, do my pedicure OR wait for her to do the other lady's!! So since I don't feel like waiting for an hour, or whatever it would take to wait for her to be done with the other woman, I say I'll just take the man. So i do and the guy just FLEW through the pedicure, SKIPPED a few procedures, and wasn't even going to shave my feet saying that they didn't need it, but I politely insisted so he did as little of that as possible. As I mentioned in the beginning, I seldom have pedicures so my feet are basically, neglected. Of COURSE I needed any dead skin removed but he was trying to avoid that step, too. And so, he THROWS some polish on and AGAIN, ANOTHER woman comes in. He calls over hello and goes over to get her, leads her to a table and leaves me sitting there for at least 20 minutes! He's at the table with the other lady and never comes back! I'm reading a people magazine and finally I think to myself, " WTF's this guy doing"?? So I call out to the woman who originally sat me in the chair and I ask nicely if he's coming back. And I tell her that I'm not sure that he's put on the top coat and she says he has - and I know he hasn't - and I ask her to ask him if he has and she again insist's that he has (which of course she would have no way of knowing but she just didn't G A S) and she comes over and SMEARS that oily stuff that's supposed to dry your polish quickly, on. I mean she SMEARED IT, just threw it on not even covering the whole nail(s)!! So then I ask if I'm done - can I go. She says yes and we walk towards the register. I hand her a gift certificate with a balance on it and in another I C G A S tone of voice, she tells me I owe 5.00. I give it to her and in the same 'thanks for nothing' voice, manages to say thank you. I turn and make a beeline out of there! NO TIP!!!... And did I mention that all the techs talk and laugh in their language? And you KNOW that some of it is about the customers. It's obvious. Didn't Seinfeld have an episode on that? Yes he did. Elaine went to have her nails done at a nail salon and all they did was talk in another language and laugh while looking at her!! LOL... It was/is, soo true... Anyway, I'd *N E V E R* go back to this place, again!!! And you'd do yourself a favor and avoid wasting money by never going there, as well! So much for my seasonal treat! Terrible. My no chip manicure that I got on Saturday, started to chip on Wednesday and looked like this by Friday. 8/10 nails have choipped and/or peeled. I am so disappointed. I called and will be going back in tomorrow to get these nails fixed and I will be choosing a new polish. I think the technician did a great job (I don't know his name) and that this bad manicure is due to either the polish (Gelish) or the lotion that he put on immediately after. Not sure if I will ever go back for another no chip after the repair. Pretty disappointed that I need to spend another hour in the nsil salon for something that should have lasted at least 2 weeks. read more

I have been getting no-chip manicures elsewhere for some time now but decided to give this place a try as it is so close to home. I didn't make an appointment, but they have a big sign in the window that says 'Walk-Ins Welcome.' When I walked in I the first thing I noticed was how nice, modern and clean the facility was. After that though, things started to go downhill. There was an older man at the front desk who didn't even acknowledge me until I had been standing there for a bit. Once he finally did and asked me what I had come in for, he mumbled under his breath to 'pick a color' and pointed me to racks of nail polish on the wall. The stuff on the wall to me looked like regular nail polish (which it was) but as that is where he pointed there is where I started to look. One of the nail technicians yelled 'no, no chip is over there' and pointed me to the other side of the salon, which again had tons of different areas of polish. I ended up figuring out the ones I needed to choose from on my own, picked my color and stood back by the front desk for the next available technician. One who had just finished a client asked me to sit down in the chair in front of her, and I sat there for about 10 minutes as she walked around talking to others, and then a young man about 19-20 sat down and told me he would be the one doing my nails. I got the impression from the technician who told me to sit down that for whatever reason she didn't want to do my nails, and it almost seemed as though they 'stuck' me with him to be funny. To be honest I was hesitant at first, as I've never had a male do my nails, but he was extremely professional, precise and very friendly. I'm typically awkward conversing in situations like that (getting nails done, haircut, etc.) but he was very nice and personable. He is the only reason that this review is 2 stars instead of one. To be fair, my technician had mentioned how they had been super busy that day. I had totally forgotten that it was graduation day at the nearby high school, and he said they had been swamped with walk-ins wanting full sets of acrylic nails. It's possible that everyone else was just stressed and frazzled from the swarm of clients, but as someone who also works in customer service that isn't an excuse to treat customers rudely. Shortly before he finished my nails I heard the technician next to us telling her client that they 'didn't like to take credit cards' because of the fees they are charged for processing them - which I get - and was pretty adamant (I would go so far as to say borderline rude) about preferring cash or check. I didn't have cash so I asked the technician if he would prefer a check. He said yes, also mentioning that they get charged fees for using a debit/credit card, but then asked me to make out the check to 'Cash' - not the salon. I wasn't entirely comfortable doing that and in hindsight shouldn't have, but did. I left happy with the way my nails turned out, but within two days the no-chip manicure had started to chip on several nails, without being any more active with my hands than I normally am. The no-chip manicures that I get at the salon I was going to before last at least a week and a half before you even start to see small chips around the edges, and these got so bad that I took the polish off myself 5 days after I had them done because it was looking bad. Part of me wants to give this salon another shot based on their busy day an how great my technician was, but I think I will just go back to driving the extra 10 minutes to my regular salon. read more

Such a waste of money. Usually I have a good experience but today was awful. Told the guy he filed my toenail crooked and he said it must be the angle I'm looking at. Barely scrubbed my foot, skipped 2 normal pedicure steps. Sure enough, after they're painted you can see how crooked it is and he didn't even polish the tip of the nail! Update: went back to get another pedi (because like I've said I've had good experiences before) and the owner told me I shouldn't have written a bad review. i kind of liked this place and how the lady did my nails but a few of my nails are crooked and square but the rest of my nails are rounded. since i got the dip process, she had to file my nails and she ended up taking a lot of skin off of my finger so now my finger in raw. i also found a lot of polish of my skin and it she did the process so many times that it looks like i have bubble nails. when she was doing my pedicure, she really hurt my big toe. i think it may be infected. over all, this place was below average. read more

However, by the time I left, I was never happier with a place. They are professional and nice and do nails better than any place I've ever been to. The second day after having my nails done three started to chip. I did not even do any work to make them start to chip. I have been coming to this salon for about 5 years. I resided in Carpentersville, and my buddy introduced me to the salon as a gift. My 3 daughters and I came in one night and it had snowed. We were the only clients in that night, and although the weather was not the best, they STILL serviced us. My girls love it here too. We had a nice time that evening, and they made it a pleasurable experience. My daughters still come when they can, and my daughter comes in from college in KY to get her mani/pedis too. I now reside in Hoffman Estates, and have continued to get serviced. They have a location here in Schaumburg, but I have gotten used to this place and do not want to try anywhere else. Mingh does a GREAT job! I agree with one of the prior reviews. She takes her time, and every time it is time for a touch up, we laugh as my feet never seem to need them. The polish last as well as the other spa servicing on my feet. I love how my manicures last. Continue to do a good job! Loyal customer! read more

I'd give this place a 5 star rating but the nails techs make a huge difference, and my experience today did not meet any of the expectations I usually have when coming here. I've been coming here for a few years now because it's almost the only salon in the area with Sunday hours, that's a huge plus for me. I've had most, if not all, of the nail techs handle my mani/pedis and I would recommend all but the one from today. The nail techs are all friendly and accommodating. The equipment is clean and the location is pretty well maintained. In the past I've gone in and let them that I move rather slow due to a medical condition...eventually I stopped letting them know because each time it felt was unnecessary since I noticed that they treat each customer the exact same. They're always so gentle! However today my tech was less than gentle, he skipped many steps during the pedicure, made me bleed, and then he was so rushed. I couldn't tell if it was work that was annoying him or the fact that he was servicing me. Either way, it definitely wasn't the experience I usually pay for or wanted. Mani/pedis are my ways to unwind and I hate that I didn't get to do that this time around. read more

I hate writing bad reviews but I wish that someone would have warned me! This was the worst pedicure I've ever had. 75% Of the chairs were open yet they put me in a chair that was completely broken and had the rollers stuck half way down my back. The tech was not even a little friendly. My feet were soaking for a generous 10 seconds before she took one out to start the pedicure...It never went back into the water until she finished that foot completely (minus the polish). Where was the time to soften the skin and cuticles? From the time I sat in the chair until she put me under the dryer was 30 minutes flat. I've NEVER had a 30 min pedi. I went to VV Nails for the first time exactly 2 weeks ago. I got a no chip mani with Min and two weeks later, they still look great. None of the nails have chipped! Min did a great job and took her time. I also like the fact that they do not charge you to remove your no chip. I know other nearby salons that charge to remove no chip even if you are getting a no chip done again. Of course, they are busy, it is summer and everyone wants to get their nails done, so just be patient. Thanks again Min, I will be back! read more

I decided to try this place out after seeing it everyday on my way to work and I'm so glad I did! I have REALLY bad heels that are always dry, cracked, and calloused, no matter what I do! Because of this, most places just rush to get them done. The woman who did my pedicure really took her time and worked on my feet.
