I agree it's typical Chinese carryout food. Happy Panda is located in Townley Center, just a few doors down from El Marachi. It's been open for a few years, so they must be doing something right. They don't have delivery, but apparently did at one time, so check back before giving up. I placed my order online. The soonest time sort for my food to be available was 45 minutes from the time that I placed my order. But then after I placed the order, at the bottom, it said that my order would be ready for pick up with 15 minutes. I'm glad I noticed that clause because I wouldn't have been happy after my food sat for an extra 30 minutes. Although online ordering was simple, the timing confusion is risky. I ordered the General Tso Chicken dinner special. The dinner specials come with fried rice and your choice of an egg roll or soup. The egg roll was good, but the soup was tasteless and the noodle in the middle was mushy. The wonton crisps that were supposed to flavor up the soup, were stale and not good at all. The chicken was a bit too breaded for my liking, I definitely wouldn't order it again. My daughter got the teriyaki chicken. Although it wasn't breaded, the chicken also had a weird texture and also not recommendable. The next time, I'll try Pad Thai. Next time, for a three-star opinion you ask? Yes, because for $7.99 dinner specials, it's worth another shot.

At first, Happy Panda was good. But after each order it's gone downhill. This last one was 2 day old chicken (see picture with yellow rice.) Or some unidentifiable meat. It didn't even taste like the BC I ordered before . My husband's order wax the coconut chicken, and it was mostly batter , wilted lettuce at the bottom and mostly tasteless. By the time Grubhub delivered, it was $30! I won't be ordering again!

On Sunday, July 5, we went to J2C for lunch. A male server seated us at a table that was quite dark and directly under a strong air conditioner. I politely asked if we could move to a table by the window. He said yes, but told us to wait while he cleaned the table. My husband and I waited patiently by the other table, looking through the menu. During that time, we saw the male server come out several times to serve other customers, but he never came back to us or acknowledged that we were still waiting. We didn't complain--we simply continued waiting. 15 minutes later, a female server noticed us waiting there and asked if we needed anything. I explained that our original table was too cold and asked whether we could move to the window table. She said yes, cleaned the table, and then waved for us to come over and sit down. At that point, everything seemed fine, and we were looking forward to ordering our lunch. However, shortly afterward, the male server walked directly over to us and began scolding us. He said, "You need to learn to be patient. I told you I would clean the table, and you shouldn't have moved without communicating with me." I calmly explained that the female staff server had cleaned the table and told us to sit there. I asked him, "What did we do wrong?" He replied, "Yes, everyone made a mistake. You just need to learn to be patient." I still don't understand what we did wrong. The female employee who told us to move to the window side table was also works for the restaurant, We simply followed her instructions. So why were we being blamed? From the moment we entered the restaurant until we left--nearly 20 minutes later--the male server never once came over to check on us or even offered us a glass of water. In the end, we decided not to eat there because we did not feel respected or welcomed. We will not be returning. This was an extremely disappointing experience and reflected very poor customer service and restaurant management. I sincerely hope the management will look into what happened and ensure that all customers are treated with courtesy, respect, and fairness.

And their Kung Pao tofu delivered all that I could have hoped of it. A packed full container of finely cubed fried tofu (one hack for anyone that doesn't know how to make tofu taste good: you should probably cut it smaller to give it more surface area to absorb whatever sauce you're cooking it in) as well as some diced carrots, baby corn, and quite a lot of peanuts in a brown sauce with just a bit of spice. I also got some sesame noodles, which is one of the more basic versions of the dish I've had, which is basically just noodles with a dollop of spiced peanut butter to spread around and coat them with. This probably sounds like a dig, but it's pretty satisfying and the noodles themselves had a nice soft texture. It was, as I would expect, a ton of food for the money. Basically the whole interior of this little building was devoted to what looked like a clean and organized kitchen. Fancy? Authentic? No, but American Chinese cuisine is a subculture of its own, and this seems a good example of it. I definitely think it would be worth returning to try their other tofu dishes.

I ended up ordering a few appetizers. The Hot & Sour Soup was the standout... flavorful, comforting, and easily a 5/5 on a cold n wet day. Unfortunately, the rest didn't quite hit the mark. The shrimp rolls were below average... mostly lettuce, the shrimps were dried out, and they took about 10 extra minutes to come out. The crab rangoon was the biggest disappointment; the filling had an unpleasant smell and tasted like heavy, clotted cream cheese and there wasn't even an iota of imitation crab meat to justify that name. My friends ordered egg rolls, which actually looked pretty good (I'd say a solid 4/5), and Singapore noodles, which unfortunately looked underwhelming. Overall, there are a few bright spots, especially the soup, but the food quality and atmosphere were inconsistent. With some updates and more attention to freshness and flavor, this place could really improve.
