A small, simple and unpretentious Chinese restaurant that does a great business because of the wonderful food that they prepare! Much of the business seems to be carry-out but there is seating inside. I ordered the kung pao chicken and I was extremely happy with my meal - a large portion, great flavors, an appropriate level of heat for a dish that is supposed to be spicy hot, and plenty of those crunchy peanuts! I loved this place. But placed an order today. Told it was gonna be 20 minutes. Got there early by about 5 minutes. But waited 20 minutes after that because it was busy. Didn't complain and waited patiently because the food is good. Cashier repeated my order. Seemed correct. Wrong. Got home and order is completely incorrect. No apology. Was told I could get credit but no one could deliver my order to me because there are no drivers available. That is a good offer if you are still there waiting in the facility. Don't judge a book by its cover. This place does not look appealing and we almost left before ordering. But that would have been a horrible mistake because the food and service here deserves more than 5 stars. The food was so fresh we had to wait to eat it, we decided to sit at a table and eat and they brought our food to us, never asked for a tip, and always asked if we needed sauces. Food is 5-star. Atmosphere is 0 because it is mostly a take-out place. Probably the best take-out we've had in Lexington. Don't be dissuaded by the neighborhood -- not not the finest kind. Bu for good food at a very reasonable price, this is the place. The counter staff is very friendly and helpful. Have spent the past 2 years trying several Chinese restaurants in Lexington and I must say this is definitely one of the best. I can only think of one other that's a go to. It's risky to order Chinese food because when it's good it's great but when it's bad it's nastay. I love the dumplings here either steamed or fried are good. The wonton soup is always boiling hot and fresh. The pork fried rice and sesame chicken are our favorite dishes. The curry is also very tasty. They have almost always included a bag of sugar donuts on the house! We usually order through DoorDash but have picked up a few times. They are very nice in there and the service is fast. I order from Happy China on DoorDash and it never disappoints. Absolutely try the steamed pork dumplings--shockingly delicious! I also love the shrimp or pork with broccoli because the broccoli is cooked perfectly every time. You can tell it's freshly prepared to be firm and not mushy. I left a recent review about my local Chinese-American takeout place, which is perfectly cromulent. This place is the one to go to though when you are in the area or just want the best of that particular cuisine. They just seem to execute so well every time: the wontons in the wonton soup are filled with a big hunk of flavorful, spiced pork in a silky broth, and the batter-fried chicken in either General Tao's or sweet and sour always have great crunch. Plus, they tend to throw in an order of fried dough balls in sugar (like a donut hole, but larger) when I spent over $30 like the Thai places in Tampa did when I would go there. The staff is friendly and the though the interior is nothing to write home about, it seems geared towards take-out anyway as I always do as I'm outside the delivery area. When I'm lazy, it's Lee's. The woman that answered the phone was very cordial &repeated my order back to me to confirm it was correct which it was . Honestly I would have thought I'd be waiting an hour for delivery because we just had a night of rain followed by snow . But no it literally was within 30 minutes and I don't even think it was that long to be honest . The delivery driver showed up &he as well was very cordial. The food itself was piping hot still when I got it inside . When I opened up the containers the steam just rose up and fogged my glasses (kidding ) . So the lunch combo was boneless spare ribs with fried rice &an egg roll within that order was also steamed dumplings (which were pretty fat). The portions are definitely generous &the food is really good . They also to my surprise included 4 Chinese donuts that were coated in sugar &omg they were good &warm to ! Yes it's in a strip mall &no it's not in the greatest area but there's plenty of traffic within the strip mall that you have no worries . Being born&raised in New York would I recommend this place ? Their fried rice was very basic and was not great or bad. They're crab Rangoon was not my favorite, because it was almost too sweet to the point where I could only have one or two before I was done. Well last night I ordered from this place for the first time, delivery and I was super super pleased. I got SO MUCH FOOD for a low price and delivery was fast. They brought my food in a box and included lots of sauce and even four free donuts and a free wooden Chinese calendar. Wow! Let's talk about the food. I wanted the classic: pork fried rice, chicken lo mein, beef dumplings and an egg roll. I was not disappointed. Everything was delicious and the portions were massive. Happy China offers dine in, carry out, delivery and have a buffet during the day. I purchased the General Two's Chicken with fried rice and a spring roll. They have the option for a regular egg roll (Pork) or a Spring Roll (Veggies). Their foods are fresh and you will receive good size meal portion. Some of the best American style Chinese food I've had. Ordered delivery through DoorDash and had hot food at my door in about 30 minutes. I ordered plain lo mein, a pint of egg drop soup, and hot and spicy chicken. All of it was very tasty and the chicken had a good level of sweet and heat. They even left a surprise in my bag. Instead of giving me just a pint of egg drop soup, they upgraded it to a quart, completely free of charge. Super quick & easy takeout! Location was kind of difficult to find though using Apple Maps since it took us to the back. Portions were big & the food was good. They also threw in some free Chinese donuts which tasted great while still hot. Ordered the general tso's chicken with lo mien & a cup of egg drop soup. Chicken was a bit too big for my liking, but there wasn't excessive breading which is great. I feel like it's hard to mess up egg drop soup so that was delicious.
