They've done an excellent job of grooming my Ragdoll cat, who hates baths and has a LOT of fur. We like to get his hind quarters shaved and always opt for the deshedding add on. I had a very poor experience here 6 months ago with my two dogs. My first dog got dragged by the neck after one of the workers dogs started barking and getting aggressive towards my dog, and we got charged different rates than the rates on the website. After this visit I wrote a one start review, the owner called my family to apologize, and she told us to give them another chance. I have taken my dogs in there two more times since and the experience has been fine. She then asked me to remove my initial one star review, so I did. My fiancé however kept his up because he was still pretty upset about our original experience, but has been giving them a chance to prove themselves. Today, my fiancé took our two dogs in there. My first dog got her nails done and as he is handing the owner our second dog, the owner told my fiancé, "I'll do your dog's nails in exchange for you to take down your negative comment, Deal?". My fiancé felt cornered and very taken back by this. The owner sits there going back and forth with him on his original negative comment. We thought about it, and we will not be coming back here at all anymore. We will not be deleting our reviews. The owner should be trying to create a positive experience and threatening us is not the way to go about getting us to delete a negative review. We have been trying out other salons in the meantime, and we REALLY love Woof Gang Bakery and Grooming in Lakeland. They have amazing staff and great services, highly recommend them. read more

Always have had a great experience bringing our family cat Rukia to Happy Paws Pet Spa! Always fast, efficient and great to deal with. We have to get our "Houdini" cat to get her claws trimmed and the occasional bath, (little escape artist who hides so well and knows when we come to get her for the occasional grooming), but when she gets home, she absolutely loves how clean and trimmed she is! If I could give zero stars, I would. First and last time at Happy Paws for our two small beagles. Our 15 lb. little girl came home yelping every time we tried to lift her. We were so angry! She is the most active dog we have ever had, and will not play, jump up on furniture, or run outside. Took her to the vet ($85) - no broken bones, but is now on pain meds. Also, $65 for two baths and nails (no clipping or other grooming) is too steep. I gave them a tip - total of $75.28. Quite an expensive day for just baths, right? NEVER AGAIN!!! read more

We have been using this groomer for 6+ months weekly. The owner and staff are aware of how we like our dog groomed (i.e. not to cut the eye lashes and to leave her facial hair long.). We don't mind paying for weekly washes and bi weekly grooms to keep our Sugar's coat in good shape. We are there often enough, and Sugar is loved enough by the staff that her photo is on the Groomer's website. Over the last few weeks, the staff has seemed busy and overwhelmed. Something wasn't right when I picked up Sugar on Saturday. She wasn't her happy self, she was quiet and retreated in to my room when we got home, which is unusual. I checked her over to make sure nothing was wrong with her, and I was surprised to find her nose skinned in two places, and that one of her eyelashes and eyebrows had been cut (the other left alone). Tuesday morning my significant other called and asked who washed our dog, and to find out what happened. The owner told us she had washed Sugar, and that Sugar had fallen off of the groomers table after having jumped up and hitting her in the elbow. Accidents happen, and I would be much more understanding if the owner had been up front about Sugar falling, so I could keep an eye on my dog to make sure there was nothing seriously wrong with her. However, we were kept in the dark, and it was only admitted after being asked if something happened. If they are too busy, or too overwhelmed to remember to tell someone what happens with their fur baby, or just neglect to mention hoping no one will notice....Then they no longer will have my business or referral. I am so upset about this, so disappointed and betrayed by the lack of concern this business showed for our precious puppy. read more

Beware of this place!!! We took our 1 1/2 year old HEALTHY dog to be groomed back in March 2013. I walked in and I really should have turned around and walked out. The place was dirty and the staff seemed confused and did not know what they were doing. When we picked our dog up he could barely walk on his back legs. After many, many visits to the vet and emergency clinic, our vet verified that our dog suffered a traumatic head injury at the hands of these professionals. We will never bring our dog to this groomer again. This has effected our family so much that we lost our trust in all grooming services. It is not so much that the injury happened, it is that they did not let us know. read more

I have been hesitant to write this bad review, as I have used them a few times with satisfactory results. Prior to this, my only complaint is that they took a LONG time to groom. I would drop my pup off at 8:00am, and she usually wasn't ready until around 4:00pm (sometimes later!). That is a long time to sit in a cage without a food/water/potty break. That aside, they seemed to treat my dog well and did a good job grooming. The last time I went there, though, was different. They gave my dog back without even bathing her. Her paws still had that "frito" smell! On top of that, a large portion of fur at the nape of her neck was singed. Even a month later, the fur in that spot is ruined. I do want to stress that this was not the norm, but it was an absolutely unacceptable experience. I would use caution taking your pup there. read more
