I've boarded the family Goldendoodle (Max - http://tiktok.com/@mackymaxdoodle) many times without any issue. I recently had to leave town for a family funeral for the weekend. I dropped off Max Friday. I should have known things have gone downhill at My Pets when they had lost his reservation and the pre-paperwork I had completed prior to his arrival. Max apparently did well on Friday however on Saturday evening during a family funeral gathering, I received a long text explaining Max had growled while the handler (Sasha) went to let him out. Without discussion, the handler texted to inform me they had decided to sedate Max. He had already stayed the night prior with no issues. They also informed me of the medication cost and additional expense to administer the medication. They promptly sent a video in which they took a second effort to enter the cold prison like room, walk to his cell, and without being friendly to him and calling his name, they clanked the door latches and yes, he made a purring/growling noise. He appeared very nervous and scared. I asked for Dr Donna to call me as I didn't want him sedated and didn't understand why experts were unable to handle a family dog as they have many times before. I let them know to open the cage and invite him out and he'd be fine. I didn't get a call from Donna. Instead, I received a long text from Donna explaining that she had told the handler to sedate him and that was their policy. I told her I didn't want him sedated and that I would leave the out-of-town family gathering and come get him ASAP. Donna informed me I should get Max behavioral training (super well-trained family dog) and that she would call me to discuss the issue the following week. It would seem that it's My Pets staff that needs the training. They are supposed to know how to handle dogs while boarding. She also informed me that Max had disrupted hers and her staff's weekend. As it got close to pick Max up, I texted and asked how they would get him out of the cage as I didn't want him sedated. I received no reply. The same handler got him out of the cage and brought him to me (somehow without sedating him). Everyone at the front desk was "unsure" if Max was sedated including Sasha. It seemed there was a lack of transparency and trust as in his returned items was a bottle of pills with 4 pills unaccounted for. I informed them that he is a family member and didn't deserve to be drugged because he had a handler unwilling to be friendly to him and quite frankly was probably scared. I will never return Max to My Pets. He deserves to be treated with care and the handler failed to do so by intimidating him while he was in a vulnerable state. When Max first went to My Pets, they would greet him by name and even bring him a Licky mat with cheese whiz. This isn't even close to how he was treated during this boarding stay. Also, Dr. Donna didn't follow up and call to discuss like both her and her staff said would happen. Very disappointed and do not recommend boarding for your fury family member.

Ashley greeted us, was friendly, and did a super job asking all the right questions to make sure she knew what we expected and offered suggestions. Stephanie did an excellent job grooming Bonnie. She did everything I asked for, and Bonnie looked even cuter than I could have hoped. She received tons of compliments from our neighbors when we took our evening walk, and her fur feels wonderful, like a cuddly stuffy. We were here for a summer cut and full groom, and talked about future grooming and fun styles. This will be Bonnie's "go to" groomer.

I also really appreciate that they never pressure you or make you feel uncomfortable if you choose to decline or postpone services. Our dog recently had surgery here, and everything went smoothly. The only drawback was the interaction when we dropped him off. The technician who received our dog came across as somewhat nonchalant, which was difficult given that my wife was feeling anxious due to a previous traumatic surgical experience at another vet. His tone, expression, and checklist-style approach lacked empathy and reassurance, which would have gone a long way in that moment. That said, we were pleasantly surprised to receive a follow-up call the next day to check on our dog, which was very thoughtful and appreciated. Overall, this is a great veterinary practice aside from that single interaction. I'm willing to give the technician the benefit of the doubt--perhaps it was just early that morning and/or he was having an off day. We plan to continue bringing our dog here for his care.

I have been going there for over 25 years when I had dogs and was excited to be able to go back there now that I had a kitten because I really love the care and how they treated you and how they were upfront with all the charges back then. But this was not the case on my first visit with my new kitten. I asked if I should get the wellness plan and the technician said well it shouldn't be that much of a charge it is not worth to get that so I did not. Dr. Rubenstein came in to check on my kitten. He said that it looks like I did not get the feline leukemia shot for my kitten so I called the place where I got the kitten to find out if it was done and it was not, so I decided that I would get the shot then done since I already had the appointment scheduled at Care Animal Hospital. But then I was told that they would have to run a test to see if the kitten had leukemia before she could get the shot and that would take 30 minutes so I went ahead and had the test done. They came out negative and then got the leukemia shot And then when I got the bill, it stated that this was just an initial leukemia shot, but that was never mention from the doctor or technician at the time when they recommended that I should get the shot that it would be two shots and the next one would have to be done 30 days from today. So I went to the front desk to pay and I said how come I couldn't get on the wellness plan this was not what I expected to pay today and I did ask the technician to be put on the wellness plan and they said it wasn't needed, and he was there when the doctor explained the leukemia shot should have been given as well today. As a first time patient, you would think they would explain the wellness plan to you and get you signed up for it, but they did not. I was very disappointed on how they wasn't upfront with all the charges and not letting you know that they would be also a second shot that was needed until you read it yourself on the paperwork. This is not the same veterinarian that I used to go with when I have my dogs. It's so sad to see this place to turn into a business That their name that says Care that they do not care. This is no longer a personal practice that was run by Dr. Kane as it still implies by the veterinarian signs. It is run by a corporate group called Home Veterinarian group. That explains the poor service and disclosure of fees. It is no longer about Care but about the $$$$.
