    Poor puppy.

I also had the experience of calling to inquire about a puppy and was told $1800. I've adopted from an SPCA before, the adoption fee was astronomically lower. Something is not right about this place to 'adopt' a dog at this price.

This place should be SHUT DOWN!! The woman who answered the phone was more concerned with if I could pay the $300 to "adopt" a dog than actually getting the dog into a wonderful home or talking to me about the dog. I asked about a puppy named Baylor, she immediately stated only the cost of the dog and no other information!! I commented that the adoption fee was really steep but that we would love to come meet the dog, she immediately said to me "no it's ok!!" I was confused, she was going to hang up on me?!?! I begged her to not hang up and to tell me more about the dog, she told me "that you can't afford the dog, sooo." How offensive! My heart breaks for all the dogs and puppies that are being sold for profit, not "adopted". I pray this institution is investigated for abuse! Btw she couldn't tell me anything about her puppy, or her business and she even told me that if I wanted to look at other dogs I have to go back to the website. This lady really upset me, I hope no one has to experience what I just did.

I found a puppy named Allie on Petfinder.com last weekend, I knew I had to act quick because she is so cute I knew she would find a home in no time. I got a call so promptly that she was available, I drove immediately to get her an hour away. Allie who's name is now Named Shasta is a lab/German shepherd mix and we are so beyond happy with her! Best $400 spent

They won't respond to emails or calls. I've tried several times over the past few days. I am going to adopt elsewhere.

How do I see the dogs your have up for adoption?

They put their pets up on sites like Petfinder.com. I put in the Yuba City zip 95991 (where Happy Paws is) and dogs available come up and many are from Happy Paws or the Animal shelter in Yuba City. Here is one I found by doing this:… Read more

I have reached out to rescues and shelters across multiple counties over the last couple of months. I have posted on Craigslist, Facebook, reached out to friends and family. I vet anyone and everyone who inquires about these pups because I truly want them to go to a good home. Today (after receiving permission from the owner of the company) my husband and I took four puppies to their aforementioned company to attempt to have them adopted. Deb arrived for her own adoption event, and when she did, she approached us with an extremely disrespectful and aggressive demeanor. She asked what our fee was, told us we should be charging MORE, and told us that we were UNDERCUTTING HER PROFIT by being there. She ranted about how she had to reduce the price of one dog she had from $850 down to $350. She also told us we were breaking the law, which she could not reference or provide any source of reference for. We are not breeders. We are not a rescue. We are not professionals at this, but Deb certainly is not a professional in any way shape or form and this is her BUSINESS. I am disgusted with her treatment. I'm a nice and amenable person in general. If she would have said any of this in a polite way, we would have stepped aside, apologized, and left. But she was so worried about her own profits she chose to be demeaning, condescending, and just plain rude. Which is 100% unacceptable in my book.

Their adoption process is smooth, transparent, and focused on making sure each pet is placed in the right home for a true forever match. They do amazing adoptions--thoughtful matching, great communication, and it's obvious the animals are genuinely loved and well cared for in foster homes. Fosters And Paws goes above and beyond to support both the pets and the adopters, and the care they put into every placement really shows. Highly, highly recommended!

This place operates way more like a puppy-mill resale business than a real rescue. They pushed a…read moredog on us that they claimed was a sweet, easy companion, but what we actually got was a high-drive, reactive dog that needed hours of structure and training every single day. None of that was disclosed. And we have a cat who's lived here peacefully for years, the dog they gave us immediately showed unsafe behaviour toward him biting his neck and ears and not releasing all this as a 9 week old puppy supposedly. When we brought the dog back, the woman there was rude, dismissive, and tried to blame us for not "introducing them right," even though we followed their instructions. The attitude was the exact same as a backyard breeder, take the money, dump the dog on you, refuse to take responsibility, and then guilt-trip you when reality doesn't match what they sold. We lost $500, stressed our home, and risked our cat's safety because they couldn't be honest about what kind of dog they were placing. It felt nothing like rescue work, more like flipping dogs and hiding behind rescue language as apparent when the founder shows up to collect a dog in a brand new 90,000$ Audi. I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE, JUST ASK THEM FOR PROOF OF WHERE THESE PUPPIES COME FROM.
