When I lost my first pregnancy and then had to go through multiple IVF retrievals and transfers, I was so happy that Clara was available once I had a pregnancy that stuck, and she did a wonderful job helping me prepare practically, mentally, and emotionally for the transformative process of becoming a mother. She offered a wealth of helpful information and was a fantastic resource through her network. It's clear how much she cares about what she does because I always felt she went out of her way to be supportive in a way that fit me and what I needed, going above and beyond the basic doula contract. For example, when I was admitted to the hospital in my 36th week with my partner out of town, she brought me lunch and then stayed with me the whole afternoon to help keep me company and continued to check in through the anxiety-filled waiting periods to find out what was happening. I ended up needing a c-section, and her caring, smiling, reassuring face was just what I needed in the OR to make it through. She supported us in a great start to our breastfeeding journey by helping him latch in those early moments and then stayed with me until I was settled out of recovery. Even though my birth didn't happen the way I had hoped, I feel good about the journey and have no regrets. After hearing about some of the other experiences of women in my prenatal group, all I could think was I wish they would have had someone like Clara to have helped them because I know she would have made a world of difference. The oil massage, pelvic steam and food she provides are all so nourishing and healing. She is an excellent cook and her food is truly delicious. I could honestly eat it year round. It also makes it easy to get enough to provide for baby, which can be difficult in the early days. Everything is not only tasty but provides those essential nutrients to help with milk supply, building iron levels and caloric intake. We hired her for both of my babies and it's so worth it! It's a quiet office with a large hallway restroom, complimentary coffee and teas in the waiting room. Being within a Dr's office, it was clean and felt safe and serene. I received the 90 min hot stone massage and opted for the CBD oil add-on. My neck, shoulder and arm pain is something that comes and goes. At its worst, I feel radiating pain and achiness that can continue for several days and disturb my sleep. This time, instead of "enduring" it for several days (and whining to my husband) I booked an appt with Linda. Online booking is super easy and convenient. If you don't know what type of massage you want or need, it's OK! Because Linda will ask you and adjust as needed. When I told her my symptoms, she included some trigger points and stretches! Ahhhhhh She definitely focused on my neck, shoulder and arm (main complaint) but did not forget the rest of my body! ( I didn't realize my lower back and legs were also tight!) The CBD oil did not smell and was a thick oil. She told me not to shower tonight. The only bad thing about CBD oil is that if it gets in your hair, your hair looks super greasy. So bring a hat if you need to go somewhere afterward. Not sure if it was the CBD or the actual massage, but I slept really well and did not wake up multiple times, as I had been doing!
