I cannot tell you how much I appreciate Melissa at Happy Pooch. We adopted Oscar from the Whatcom Humane Society in September and he is very reactive to new people because he is partially blind. I really needed to get his nails trimmed and the vet recommended Happy Pooch. I was able to make an appointment very easily. I had explained about Oscar's reactivity so she gave us an appointment at the end of the day when there wouldn't be a bunch of clients or dogs around. I brought Oscar in, and as predicted, he barked at Melissa and her assistant, Madelyn. Melissa was very very patient with Oscar, giving him treats and speaking to him calmly and gently. She knew exactly how to work with him!! She led us to a back room where it was quiet and we wouldn't encounter any other "triggers". She really took her time letting Oscar relax and we were eventually able to get his nails clipped with lots of treats and encouragement! I am so grateful for Melissa. She is very experienced and very kind! We bought a punchcard and Oscar will return for regular "PETicures"! read more

They shaved my dog even though he was not matted and did not tell me they were going to do it ahead of time. The employee was rude and condescending at pickup. I attempted to schedule another appointment months later as they are the only local groomer and they lied about availability then admitted they didn't want to cut my dogs hair. read more

This groomer was highly recommended by two friends. sadly I do not see why they love it so much. This is only my second time here but wasn't impressed on first visit so wanted to give them another try. still smells like poop when you walk through door, the groomer didn't really greet me there was blood trailed on sidewalk in front of store, i mentioned it and they said they didn't know though I could tell it wasnt there very long. I got a trim for my dog, they charged me same as a full grooming and she didn't look very different. I'm disappointed but it will grow back. First visit took about three hours, cost $60 and I gave $10 tip. This trim took one whole hour, shes ready and cost me $60. it's barely trimmed and is not worth what i paid. read more

I've been looking for a groomer for my new puppy. When I called Happy Pooch, the person who answered the phone was very patronizing and condescending and treated me like I was a pain in her side for asking questions about how they work with new puppies who have not been groomed before. Our entire conversation was less than 5 minutes, but she acted like I was wasting her time. I decided not to book an appointment because I'm concerned that if they treat customers that way, how are they treating the pets? Very poor customer service. read more

The front desk staff is very unfriendly. After taking my two dogs to happy pooch monthly for 3 years, I decided to complain about being treated in an unfriendly manner every time I am there. The next time I went in, the owner told me that I need to go elsewhere for my dogs to be groomed because I complained about her unfriendly staff. They have also tried to over charge me on several occasions. I guess customers are just a number. read more

Cut is uneven. On rear end where clippers were used, very uneven. Not overly impressed the first time but gave it another try. Really not happy with the cut this time and will not be going back. read more

We just moved to the area with our new dog Archer (adopted maybe 3 months ago) and we weren't entirely sure how he would behave or what regular grooming he would require. Love taking my pups here! They do a really nice job - have a great selection of treats and dog items. They always spend time telling me how great my dogs did even though they can be a handful! Love the job they do from brushing out my husky to trimming nails! Only wish they had the nail trimming Tuesday deals every other weekend or once a month so I could actually take advantage of it!! read more

Drop in nail trims, grooming by appointment. Feels a little dirty, but service is great and friendly. They treat the animals they work with VERY well, which is the most important aspect to me. read more

Michico (sp?) was recommended to us by our vet. She was lovely and kind to my little dog. He was a disaster--full of rats and tangles. Two hours later he was shiny and clean. Even though it's a bit of a drive from our home in Bellingham, we'll be going back. It's worth it to find someone we can trust to do a good and job and to be kind to our dog. read more
