Best place for nail trimming! We have a senior rescue chihuahua who is scared of hands (and people in general). He also has one weird nail that curls under and grows into his paw pad and is very hard to cut. We usually do walk-in, and they have always been able to accommodate us within 10 minutes or so. This is the only place we have been that has successfully cut his nails (we don't drummel). Sometimes, we hold him while they cut the nails - or there is one lady there who takes him under her arm and does the whole thing herself while holding him (to my amazement each time). read more

Both my mom and I brought our dogs here. They are affordable and have walk in nail trims (drumel) which is good. But we stopped going after my mom and I got to the shop a little early for her goldendoodle's pickup time amd saw through the window her standing on the table while the groomer walked away from her every few minutes to go talk to people at the front. We sat there for 20 minutes or more watching this lady do nothing but walk away leaving my mom's dog on the table alone. I understand they were very busy and was trying to talk to other customers, but we saw her get left multiple times in the time we were waiting and who know she many times it happened before we got there. It's a safety hazard and hard on the dog because she was a nervous dog. My dog runs away when we pass them so I imagine she was not comforted there either. read more

We had the hardest time trying to clip our cats nails because they would bite and claw anytime they saw the clippers. We were able to just walk in and they were able to cut both of their nails within a few minutes. They did a wonderful job and were very professional even when our younger cat bit one of the employees. We come back every month or so and could not recommend them more. read more

We took our (feisty) cat there this morning to have her nails trimmed, and were SO impressed with Kathy. She tucked Sierra under her arm and had her nails clipped in record time. They shaved our 3 cats & it was low priced and great. The cats came home a little more well behaved, It sounds weird but it made our cats come to us more and not as skidish. They really act better after there abuse of shaving & nail clipping. Even our mean tiger like cat that growled at you, is much nicer and much more docile. Any way it started because freddy got knots like a, "reggae guy" so tight the hair rolls, were pulling on his skin a lot, very tight. No extra charge, somehow, they groomed him even though he is growling mean, he will claw you. Anyway great place 5 star go here. !!!!!!! read more

We have always been a large-dog family, but have recently added a tiny, elderly shitzu-maltese dog to our pack. To my surprise, finding a groomer in Bellingham was far more challenging than I had expected. The first groomer I called, had a message that said that they were scheduling at least two months out for appointments and then, at the very end of her message, noted that they were not even accepting "new clients." Sheesh...it seems to me that if you are that busy, it is time to hire support staff. I don't think that arranging a dog haircut in Bellingham should feel like trying to get reservations to an exclusive restaurant in Manhattan. The next place I tried told me that their prices started at 50.00 and went up from there. My dog is about ten pounds, and the idea of not knowing how much I would end up paying up front was a bit disconcerting to say the least. Thankfully, a friend recommended Hot Dogz and Kool Katz in Ferndale. I was so glad to find them. They are very nice people, reasonably priced, and did a beautiful job on my little dog. She came home wearing a jaunty kerchief rather than the usual pink bow, and she looks fantastic. (Note: if you don't like scent, request that they not add cologne to the bow. They were happy to oblige and my dog smelled clean but not perfume-y.) I will gladly drive to Ferndale in the future! read more

I feel sad that we had the opposite experience as most people here. We were excited because of the great reviews but our first time was definitely our last time. Our dog just gets the same length trim all over and his tail a little fluffy. But we got him back with several missed patches of long hair behind the ears, on the legs and chest, uneven trimming on the ears and face and giant poof ball lion tail. There were a couple of patches of "clipper burn" and a nick in his front pad that I noticed after I saw him limping a little. Overall very disappointing. Thinking maybe we were scheduled with a new employee (?) because it seems our experience was much different than many others who seem to have had years of great service from this business. read more

We have been going into downtown Bellingham for our girl's nail trimming upon recommendation from our sitter. It's kind of far so we thought we'd try Hot Dogz as we live in Ferndale. My husband witnessed 2 yelps and rough handling of our baby. He volunteered to hold her and she settled down. Why my husband tipped the groomer is beyond me! I noticed all her nails were left rough and unfinished. We filed and smoothed them out when we got home. Back to Bellingham for us! read more

I called and talked to a lady and told her that my cat was difficult to handle. I explained to her that my cat gets really mean and vicious when I try to brush her or remove the hairballs and I was concerned that she might bite and scratch the groomer. She assured me that she had groomed tons of cats and could handle the situation just fine. She said that they had a mouth guard for cats to prevent bites and that they would also trim my cats nails if need be. She stressed that I needed to make an appointment ASAP because she was going to have surgery soon and would be out for a few weeks, so I made an appointment for the next week. I went through all the trouble of getting her down there only to come back an hour and a half later to be told that she couldn't groom my cat and that my cat had bit her. Not only that she was rude and unfriendly from the start and made me feel like more of a burden than a welcomed client. Her attitude alone is enough to keep me from ever going back. I wouldn't recommend taking your pet there. read more

Took my Lhasa Apso into Hot Dogz today, and he came out beautiful! Lindsey is not only a terrific groomer, but very personable. She didn't mind my voicing the troubles I've had with other groomers, which finally led me to try to groom him myself (disastrous!). AND he was in a great mood when I picked him up! And, yes, Kathy was commended this week in the Ferndale Schools publication for her support of Ferndale High School students, so we are proud of her! read more

I would recommend this place to everyone! I have been taking my chow chow here for a couple years now. They are very professional and priced very reasonable. My dog loves to go to the groomers and she even comes home with a cute hanker chief around her neck. Love them!! read more
