I had explained about Oscar's reactivity so she gave us an appointment at the end of the day when there wouldn't be a bunch of clients or dogs around. I brought Oscar in, and as predicted, he barked at Melissa and her assistant, Madelyn. Melissa was very very patient with Oscar, giving him treats and speaking to him calmly and gently. She knew exactly how to work with him!! She led us to a back room where it was quiet and we wouldn't encounter any other "triggers". She really took her time letting Oscar relax and we were eventually able to get his nails clipped with lots of treats and encouragement! I am so grateful for Melissa. She is very experienced and very kind! We bought a punchcard and Oscar will return for regular "PETicures"!

He also has one weird nail that curls under and grows into his paw pad and is very hard to cut. We usually do walk-in, and they have always been able to accommodate us within 10 minutes or so. This is the only place we have been that has successfully cut his nails (we don't drummel). Sometimes, we hold him while they cut the nails - or there is one lady there who takes him under her arm and does the whole thing herself while holding him (to my amazement each time).

From the start, they were fantastic--answered the phone, called me back, got me scheduled quickly, and even sent an email so I could include detailed instructions and photos. When I dropped him off, they truly listened to everything I said. They were happy to give him treats (which he loves, and it makes a huge difference), they Dremeled his nails exactly like I asked, and they were careful with his ears--he's sensitive to ear flushes, so I requested just water, and they followed that perfectly. I took my double-coated English Springer Spaniel in to be groomed, and they shaved her entire coat…read more When I made the appointment, I specifically asked if they were able to do breed-specific ESS grooming, and I was assured they could. When I dropped her off, I also made it clear that she should not be body-clipped and that I only wanted her feathering trimmed. After the appointment, I called to understand what happened and how this miscommunication occurred. Alison was very apologetic and explained that the receptionist's notes said to do a 1/2" trim all over. If there was any confusion about those notes, I wish the groomer had called me before starting to confirm that I actually wanted my dog shaved. City Dogs did issue a refund, but I'm extremely disappointed, and now there's a real possibility that my dog's coat will not grow back correctly.

My cranky old dog (15) is a bit Extra for other boarding places (stressed out, not eating, rubbed…read morenose raw, doesn't play well with others, etc.!). Lots of separation anxiety. Then we found Hyline!! She was at Hyline for over a week on the first visit and did fine. No raw nose when we picked her up. She had a private "room" and I paid a little extra for one-on-one attention (tuck-in service!! What!!), and a peanut butter-filled Kong once daily. They sent us photos and updates. She even ate while she was there! Second visit was good, too. She didn't even hang back when it came time to leave her, just went along to her kennel. Pretty surprising, for her! The place is clean and well-kept. They do doggie daycare, too. We appreciated the good service and care for our good old girl!

1) Completely failed to give my dog critical medication for 9 days (after its importance was…read moreemphasized to them at check in). 2) They took my dog to the ER for normal old dog sounds ("authorized" by my emergency contact who believed them there was an emergency- ER did literally nothing, agreeing my dog was fine and did not need x-rays, etc). 3) Uninvited one dog of mine (one of three) to stay again because she has cancer - after years and many, many thousands of dollars worth of stays she was dumped as a client. Yes, her poo would have chemo drugs in it, but it's frankly not that hard to just pick it up. Plenty of dogs are on meds that are excreted in poop. Their operation is a ridiculous cash grab of low lying fruit (easy dogs) using mostly untrained kids to run it. Zero commitment to long term clients. Glad they fired my sweet old girl as I now have my 3 dogs staying somewhere that is actually run by good people that care.
