I don't eat a lot of red meat but after hearing great things from my friends in Brooklyn about Happy Valley Meat I decided to investigate what this really was all about. I was initially drawn to the fact that the animals are grass fed, ethically and humanly raised. Happy cows treated well and not left to be butchered in a slaughterhouse makes a huge difference in terms of flavor but also what this company speaks to. I also love the idea that they try to maximize every piece of the cow to give you cuts such as the Denver steak which we don't see very often.. just as an example. The meat also comes from Pennsylvania so isn't traveling far for us. Not knowing which direction to go in I opted for the family meal. For $70 plus shipping I felt it was a great deal. It arrived chilled and within 2 days after placing the order. I debated about a few other items and had emailed customer service. Within a couple of hours I got a response which I really appreciated. We both agreed the family meal would be perfect. I have obviously had ground beef before and a round I make about once every couple of months. We slice the roast beef with our slicer and use it for sandwiches and a variety of other meals. But it was the Osso Bucco I was extremely excited for. Let's be honest who ops for buying meat with all that fatty marrow when out shopping at a butcher. Well maybe a lot of you do, but I certainly don't. So I took this as an opportunity to try something outside of my comfort zone and I loved it. I followed a fantastic recipe I found online and served it over creamy polenta. Wow what a winner. Everything we have tried from the box has been super flavorful and I can't wait to order again. It's worth the (short) wait! I have purchased almost everything Happy Valley Meat is offering. My favorites include the Dry Aged Ribeye, chorizo sausage, ready made meatballs, ground beef, and the chuck eye. I haven't had a single bad experience with HVM and am surprised every time as I try more meats and create more dishes. Their meats are the highest quality and puts grocery meat to shame. I can't ever go back. They've spoiled me... Morbidly, I have to thank the current events for only one thing...and that's bringing HVM into the average consumers home. High quality and affordable meats! I ordered the Family Meal for the first time on a Thursday and it arrived just two days later, on Saturday morning. Can't get better delivery service than that. The Family Meal is a "grab bag" of meat which I assumed were leftover cuts that perhaps didn't sell that week. I was slightly nervous as to what cuts I'd receive and in what quantities. Well I'm happy to report there was no reason to be nervous. I received ~2lbs of ground beef, ~2lbs of beef chuck cubes, ~2.5lbs of chuck tender, and ~3lbs of veal shanks. That's at least 4 dinners for a family of 4. Fantastic quality and taste in addition to affordability. The Family Meal is especially fun for new-ish home cooks like myself. I've made beef bourguignon, burgers, pot roast, and osso buco with this Family Meal. Can't wait to order my next Family Meal. Note that the price has increased $10 from $60 to $70. I ordered a family meal twice from HVMC and have been pleasantly surprised. For around $8 a pound I've gotten grass fed beef delivered to my door. I've gotten a mix of ground and stew meat but also sirloin steaks, short rib, and teres major steaks. It's all been absolutely delicious and saved me a ton of money. When I saw the teres major I was a bit taken aback because I'm not familiar with the cut, but after cooking it was essentially a tenderloin. The little half pound sirloins I got were perfect for a meal and had such great flavor. I ordered the second family meal because the first was so good, and the second was even better. I plan on ordering from HVMC as long as they will ship to consumers. read more

Can't wait to order again. This is what meat is supposed to taste like. Got 3 1-lb packages of ground beef, 3 pounds of chopped beef, because these came fresh. Also ordered the family pack. It comes frozen and easy peasy nice selection of meat. The sirloin steaks in the family pack are DELICIOUS. I panfried them and then put on a pat of butter. So good. The ground beef makes a nice burger. Haven't tried anything else with the ground beef, because it's got me craving burgers so much. From the family pack, I made Jamie Oliver's steak, Guinness, and cheddar pie with the brisket. (I should have trimmed the meat more.) So good. The family pack also included short ribs. I don't normally buy short ribs, but now I know how delicious they are. The only reason I haven't ordered again is that I still have two packs of ground beef and one sirloin in the freezer.
