Been coming here for years. When I was a kid we'd stay at Lake Papkeechie and this was a nice Friday night spot and a break from helping dad with fixing up the lake house. Was here recently and it appears they only do takeout now. A shame but honestly with COVID they probably got most customers this way anyways so it makes sense. Caught a northern pike and didn't want to cook anything other than the fish so we got the shrimp fried rice, lo mein noodles, and crab rangoons. Amazing accompaniment for the fish! Extremely bland food. We ordered beef & broccoli, chop suey, egg rolls and sweet/sour pork. Each dish was equally without flavor and the egg rolls were crunchy on the outside but mushy on the inside. We tried Happy Wok back in 2021 and we weren't impressed but decided to give it another shot. Bad idea. If no flavor is what you want, this is the place to go! read more

This place brings me back to memories of the Chinese food I ate as a child. Most restaurants at this point are making the small egg rolls with a crispy thin wrapping. The egg rolls at Happy Wok are the much larger with a great crunchy wrapping. That alone would give them 5 stars. The rest of the menu is great too, it hits for an American style Chinese restaurant. The hot and sour soup is generous in portion and in veggies. I have enjoyed every dish I have ordered from Happy Wok. Twice-cooked pork? Slaps. Governor's Chicken? S-tier. We got a wide verity of food. It was our first time. I preordered for pick up. She said 25 mins. By the time I arrived it was ready to go. We got. Pot stickers. Egg rolls. Pork fried rice and shrimp fried rice. All the food was so fresh and good. The pot stickers are hands down my favorite. I'd literally order two orders for myself next time. The dipping sauce they come with. Chefs kiss. We will definitely be eating here again. Reminds me of a little place in cocoa beach Florida. Customer service was on point. The lady was so darn sweet. Stopped mainly to get some egg drop soup because l have had a cold and decided to get Beef and Pea Pods. Mid afternoon. Wasn't expecting the best chinese food I've ever had, but that's what l got. Came out fast, but the entire meal was prepared to order. Fried rice was fresh, pea pods were crisp and clearly either fresh, or hadn't been in the freezer long. Happy Wok never disappoints!! Thank goodness we gave Happy Wok a try late last year - as now we finally have a "go-to" restaurant in North Webster... We've eaten in a few times and have ordered take-out on numerous occasions. The food is always incredibly delicious and piping hot. The portions are indeed impressive when visiting the Happy Wok at lunchtime. So much value for your buck! Everything we've tried has been excellent - but I'd say my favorites are the Moo Goo Gai Pan and the Chicken with Vegetable Deluxe. My husband's favorite - hands down - is the Beef with Broccoli. We always have to get an order of their Crab Rangoons as they are indeed the best we've ever had. The fried rice is always spot on - not greasy as we've had at other restaurants... And by the way, if you haven't tried the House Fried Rice - go ahead and spend a little extra - you won't be sorry! Oh, and another thing that has really impressed us - the vegetables are always so fresh and crispy and the chicken and beef is always so tender and savory. Happy Wok was THE WORST Chinese food EVER. Everything tastes burnt. The Orange Chicken was gross and over cooked. The egg rolls tasted like cabbage. The Chop Suey and Mongolian Beef all tasted burnt. The beef fried rice tasted burnt. The only thing that was near edible was the pot stickers with a 4 out of 10. If you people think this is good Chinese food...you haven't lived...LOL. It's garbage. This was formerly Chiam's, and most of us wish it still was. Here in North Webster there are not many options for food, so I have given this place a few chances. The food is actually not so bad, if you can get what you want. Yesterday I attempted to order sweet and sour chicken with grilled chicken instead of fried. The waiter returned and told me the chef said it was "too busy" to cook it with grilled chicken. Not exaggerating, but there literally was only one other table there. So I proceeded to leave my friends and spend my money else where. Another thing that is a huge turn off is the cleanliness of the kitchen area and service desk, for some reason they feel it is appropriate to have a mattress, yes, a mattress in plain view next to the service desk with blankets and all. I will say the female there during the day is very nice, its unfortunate that the chef is so rude. read more

Out of all the restaurants in North Webster, I'd say this is the place to go! Their menu is extensive, there's certainly something for everyone! I'm a big fan of their egg drop soup, it's made very thick and almost creamy. It's wonderful for warming you up on a cold Indiana's winter day! This is our favorite Chinese restaurant as of lately. Pepper steak is always delicious, egg rolls are good, and fried rice isn't too greasy. My wife has eaten sweet and sour chicken where she thinks it was cooked a little too long once, but generally has been just as happy with her food as I am mine. The family that owns the restaurant is always polite and kind, and the service we get is very good. It's not the newest or fanciest place to eat, but we don't go here for the atmosphere; we go here for the food! read more
