The founder and clinical director Nate Lanthrum has poured his heart and soul into Lighthouse. Essentially, Nate customizes a plan for you, based on your goals and needs. He combines the most successful components of various addiction recovery techniques (including the most current treatment modalities) and has made something original. He's deeply intelligent, humble and he brings a great sense of humor into the recovery process. One of the most intimidating parts of entering a recovery program is the admissions. Marty handles the intake process for new clients and makes the process as easy as humanly possible. Marty's basic philosophy is "we will do everything in our power to work with you and get you the help you need." Lighthouse doesn't turn people away who can't afford the program because they actually care about people. If you have insurance then Marty handles that aspect for you and gets you enrolled. Lighthouse offers medication assisted treatment. Their on staff physician is Dr Steve Holtsford. He is incredibly down to earth, intelligent, and caring. I have not had such a pleasant experience with a doctor in ages. He is really thorough yet expeditious. You never feel hurried during your time with him. He encourages you to be gentle with yourself when you need medication, and he is more than willing to assist you in your goals of tapering off medications. Lighthouse is a world class institution. If you need help, if someone you love needs help, give them a call. Asking Lighthouse for help might be the best thing you ever do for yourself or someone close to you.

Where to begin..... I was in a major car accident in 1997 ( age 19). From there, lot of surgeries…read morefollowed by loads of Dr apts. Pain was a real factor after the accident which led me to see a pain specialist. Having said, I was on major opioids for last 28 years up until 2 months when Cristina Gonzalez at From Pain to Wellness kicked me out of the practice for one of the meds I was on not showing in my urine. Just like that, after 28 years of opioids, 13 years of being seeing by the same pain management clinic.. that was it! Kicked to the curb with no help, no suggestion on where to go , what to do... Frankly, my first thoughts were very dark - wasnt sure if life was worth living. Was worried about withdrawals.. more importantly how in the HELL does a Dr prescribe 300mg of oxy a day and then say " adios.... Hope you figure it out.... ". Well Cristina, the joke is on you b/c Ive never been better. All thanks to Dr Oyasu of ModernMed. For those out there who are looking for support.. maybe youve experienced a similar situation with a rigid personality nurse practitioner. Whatever it is, please know that it's gonna be ok! In Fact, your life is gonna get better..... Dr Oyasu of ModernMed is a Demi god! His regular job is that of an emergency room physician yet he decided to open ModernMed to support people like me, who got caught up in an opioid cycle. All this b/c his heart was breaking for all the types of people coming into his ER for opioid treatment / withdrawal . my first apt was to discuss my plan in how I was going to get off 300 mg / day of OXY basically cold turkey without ruining my life, my marriage, my job. Dr sat down with me to come up with a plan. He prescribed a handful of medications in which I was super scared yet OMG I had ZERO withdrawals.... I maybe felt a little crummy for a few hours, maybe a day and that was it..... withdrawals over! Folks... you DONT have to spend 100k on some fancy rehab. You just need a really good Dr! Here we are.... Almost two months later... weve had to tweak a few of the meds yet I'm on my way to being fully done w/ opioids and the best part is that I've never felt better - i feel strong, alert, happy, my brain is working in ways it hasnt in decades... I can't explain it but it's exciting . I feel like my brain is coming to life! I hope this helps someone out there! Whoever u are... whoever needs help... Dr Oyasu is waiting for u with open arms to help you see the light. Opioids suck! It's a never ending ticket to nowhere. At Pain to Wellness I spent $500 a month with insurance just to come in to do regular refill apt. Just think , that's $6000 back in my pocket! Maybe I'll spend that money on a trip to Africa, maybe Europe.. Best part is that I won't be jaded on opioids... I'm free!!!!!

Our family was at a crossroad and my husband was struggling to find his way back to us. That is until he found NIRC. I am forever grateful he found your program and walked through your doors. He entered broken and came out stronger. You gave him back his clarity and set him down a path with guidance, compassion and the tools that he needed to succeed. Pastor Bill Orris was his beacon and helped lead him through the fog. I am forever grateful that he found your program and ultimately found himself again along the way. He has now been sober one year and counting. There are no words to express the gratitude I have for your program and the impact it has had on our family. I honestly think we would be on a much different path had he not found NIRC and I hope that our story can give hope to others that are navigating through the darkness that there is light at the end of the tunnel. Thank you NIRC and all of the staff that brough my husband back, not only to me, but to our family. We've made so many amazing memories with him this past year and he is able to look back, remember and reflect on everything that we've done together. His life is no longer a fog, it's now vivid and clear with purpose and filled with endless love.

Absolutely horrible experience. I would not recommend Northern Illinois Recovery center. Her is…read morewhy: 1. Intake specialists lie to you. They said I can contact my son via cell phone. I am a single mom and I asked to have access to my son via cell phone and my work iPad to keep them updated. I will share the actual texts between me and the intake person at the end that proves this. 2. This facility is not equipped to handle detox. Day 1 of my arrival they gave me Valium to treat my alcohol withdrawal. They waited 10 minutes after I swallowed the pill and called the ambulance telling me they have no Intravenous or intramuscular available to give me, and they called an ambulance and sent me to a local hospital emergency room. Upon arriving there, the ER doctor said I was fine and the northern Illinois Recovery center should have waited at least 30-40 minutes for the Valium to work. My vitals were fine and the ER doctor was said I was medically cl to go back and he said I needed nothing from them as he checked me out and said all my vitals were good. Now you know I'm going to receive a bill for the ambulance and the ER visit that was completely unnecessary. That shows you the incompetence of the staff and the Director of Nursing at NIRC that made the decision to send me to the ER via ambulanc. Even the paramedics in the ambuLance said my vitals were fine and why aER they sending me to the hospital ER...after giving me a Valium 10 minutes ago and not waiting for it to take effect. 3. There was one interaction with a therapist and case manager for a 11 day stay. Both of them were useless, no follow-up. 4. There was one educational class a day and that's it. 5. On my last day, it was 5:30pm and I requested to stay overnight so I may attend the 6-7pm AA meeting. The nurse Eunice even recommended I stay overnight so I can attend that and it'll end at 7pm and I can receive my final night medications, otherwise I'd have no medications for night if they discharged me because it was a Sunday and all pharmacies close at 5 pm. So he said he had to get permission from the staff and director Nick. The director Nick and rest of staff said I had to be discharged immediately because I changed my mind to stay and my discharge papers were done. That was the answer I was given. Now what caring treatment center would do that? Not this one. I had to leave then and there, unable to say goodbye to most fellow inpatient friends I made. They were crying and so was I. 6. All of this show what a unprofessional, uncaring and incompetent director and staff they have. Here is the text messages from the intake specialist before I went in saying he spoke to Nick director and executive director regarding they'd allow me to talk to my son via cell phone and use of my work iPad.

Dr. Benedetto spent close to 45 minutes on the phone listening and his willingness to help was something I never experienced before. He had me in with in 24 hours and would have seen me that very moment but I was unable to leave work. The next day I was in and that is when I met Dr. Kenji Oyasu. Let me be very clear, Kenji is one of a kind and treats me like family. He went far beyond the call of duty (as dose the whole Brightside team) to make sure I got healthy and stayed healthy. I was scared to switch from a 120mg a day methadone dose to Suboxone. And it was not easy and I had to be methadone free for approximately 6 full days (and no opioids period! Don't think a short acting opioid is going to speed up the process). Kenji was with me every step of the way during the induction process. I believe I was his very first methadone conversation and It worked!! Been off methadone since June of 2015 and my life keeps getting better every day. I want to give a shout out to Phil A. You rock buddy! And the staff that treats you like family right when you walk through the front door. Also I just switched from Dr. Kenji Oyasu to Dr. Robert Burton (a psychiatrist) not only for his expertise in treating opiate addiction but to move forward and form a overall treatment program to treat some other issues I have. I just had my first visit with Dr. Burton this week and I personally want to thank you for helping me get on track with a treatment plan and the willingness to keep me healthy! I am also looking forward to getting to know Dr. Diane Copeland in the soon to come therapy program. I came in as a Methadone conversation and wanted to get off because the methadone was running my life. It's ok to be scared but you need to also be brave and fight! Trust and follow the direction of your Dr. This is a process but if you do it correctly through Brightside Clinic, you can accomplish anything!

The reasons that I have given her a less…read morethan stellar rating are mainly the practice where she works and the people on her staff. 1. My wife and I both find the front office staff rude and abrupt to the point of being alienating. They have been this way more or less for the 2 years we have been going to this office. We feel hesitant to even go into the office given this belligerent attitude. 2. It is very difficult to get an appointment unless it's an emergency and then they can get you in the same day but not necessarily with Dr Weiss. You can wait up to three months to get an appointment for a physical. The office continually recommends you see a nurse instead of Dr Weiss due to her schedule. What is the point of having a primary care physician if they continue to try and schedule you with some other person? 3. On a recent appointment I was suppose to see Dr Weiss - according to the front desk - but the doctor had left by the time I arrived on time for the appointment. Instead I saw a nurse practitioner and she basically said she couldn't find anything wrong with me but if my symptoms persisted I should get a chest x-ray and to call the office to schedule. After continuing to feel bad I called the office to arrange for an x-ray but they gave me the run around and never bothered to call me back that day. I eventually went to see another doctor and he properly diagnosed me very quickly. Also, the staff and nurses at this new office were very professional and friendly. Dr Weiss is a very good doctor but surrounded by less than professional staff. I also think she needs to do something about her schedule - what is the point of having a primary care physician if you cant see her? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I am adding to this review after another unpleasant experience with Dr Weiss' office. I asked the office staff to send me my medical records on a jumpdrive so I could give them to my new physician. They did so - but they sent it to the WRONG address, an address I haven't lived at for over 5 months. What is it with these people? Now my medical information is god knows where. Again, if you haven't heard enough to avoid this office totally I would just be careful going forward.
