I stumbled across Harbinger while on a business trip to Fort Collins and can happily report that it's a must-visit spot for any coffee lover. I only had a breve cortado during each of my three visits, but every one was exceptional, and the accompanying glass of sparkling water was a really nice touch. I drink cortados all the time, and it's usually hit or miss whether the shot will be more bitter than I'd like, but Harbinger's was consistently exceptionally smooth with no hint of bitterness. They also had a great pastry selection, including a surprisingly good range of gluten-free options. The staff was inviting, and the space was well-appointed. Definitely recommend! read more

I was not happy with my last two visits to the Harmony location. Harbinger coffee is my top craft coffee shop in Northern Colorado and I tell everyone this. I make my own coffee at home with a prosumer setup so when I go out and spend money it's because it's worth it. But the last two stops for to go cappuccino 6 ounce two different barista's did not take the time to foam the milk correctly and instead of opening the lid and looking at a beautiful, fine milk pour I was met with Starbucks quality foam. They weren't friendly or engaging and their smiles were slanted. I ordered a hot matcha with oat milk. Didn't get a sweetner because I'd rather not spend an extra dollar just for a pump of flavor... Waited a couple minutes and then got my drink. I said thank you have a nice day, and didn't get a response. The barista who took care of me at Harbinger Coffee made my morning a little brighter. I came in on a Saturday early morning. She was easy to talk to and super kind. It was also fun to see their loyal customers. The guy in line behind me told me how Harbinger's was the best coffee in Fort Collins. They had a lot of breakfast pastries to pick from. I wanted to get the people I was staying with a thank you gift and this was a nice choice. Here is what I got: Chai Latte with Oat Milk: I enjoyed the spices in this drink. It was a bit sweet, but in a good way. It was a great way to start my morning. Cappuccino: Unfortunately, the coffee in this drink was a bit old. I got it for my Mom and it wasn't foamy enough for her. Gluten Free (GF) Lemon Poppy Donut: A bit doughy and gooey in a way that some gluten free pastries can be. It had a little bit of a strange aftertaste, but the lemon and poppy combo was yummy! Lemon Poppy Scone: I think we got one of the batches that had a little too much baking soda in it. Otherwise, I love anything with a lemon poppy flavor! GF Peach Muffin w Oat Crumble, Cinnamon Walnut Muffin, New York Crumble, GF Blackberry Bar: Gifted these to our hosts. This is the spot for true craft coffee lovers! Perfectly roasted beans, brewed at exactly the right temperatures that exudes the baristas love for coffee. For the Starbucks fans reading this review who love ordering "skinny" lattes... stick to Starbucks. But for those of you who truly appreciate the art of coffee making, this is the place. My husband got a hot oatmilk latte and I got an iced honey oatmilk latte, both of which were made to perfection with the perfect balance of espresso to milk. I also ordered two vegan GF donuts--YES! I said vegan AND GF! As someone with a dairy allergy and gluten sensitivity, I greatly appreciated the fact that they had baked good that I could eat! We also bought a bag of beans to go as we love collecting beans from smaller roasters. The energy in the space is awesome! This place is legit. They roast themselves, and have a legit machine (Slayer). The coffee is roasted right, the shots we got in cortados (pulled by Miles) were perfect, and the service was super friendly. Miles was super nice and professional. They served our cortados with sparkling water, which is great presentation and pairing. It is actually how they do it at most espresso bars in Italy, if you've ever been. The spot is cozy and cool. Great photography on the walls. If we ever come through Fort Collins again, we'll return. Also, we needed some caffeine in the late afternoon, and everything was closed except this place; they were open until 5pm, which is pretty awesome. I just discovered this shop in Aug 2019. It's a great edition to the southeast side of Fort Collins, where strip malls and starbucks abound. If you're traveling on I-25, it would be a 6 minute round trip detour. They roast their own beans, they serve beautiful espresso drinks with latte art. Their pastry offerings are wonderful. The space is modern and stark. Employees are friendly and knowledgeable. This is a great place to stop if you're into high quality coffee. This is one of my favorite coffee shops in town, and I specifically like this location, not only because it is close to my house, but also the back patio... which I probably shouldn't be sharing because it is my secret work spot that is often deserted, but hey, can't hide a good thing forever. Anyways, this place is owned by Jonathan who has been in the FoCo coffee business for a while and he makes AMAZING coffee! He is an amazing guy and very much a professional! They roast it here in the Harmony store and you can watch them roast it if you are there at the right time. It smells so amazing in this place. Their drip is almost as amazing as their pour-overs, and every once in a while they have some special concoction that will knock your socks off, like the Calamity Jane in the summers! I've been drinking Harbinger coffee since it was in the basement of 151 S. College Ave in downtown Fort Collins. The coffee has always been delicious and I was not afraid to pay a little extra for a good cup. It was just the little stand and the pour over option for each cup and you could have a nice chat while your coffee was made. I was excited when Harbinger opened a shop on Mulberry and then excited again when they opened on Harmony. I often come by the Harmony location with my daughter for morning coffee and a chat. I love having a special coffee pour over and I enjoy trying different coffees from different regions, which is exactly what Harbinger does. The coffee is always delicious, whether it is a pour over or whatever is on tap (coffee of the day). There are pastry options, but they are limited and I have never indulged. The atmosphere in this location is open, modern, and has a nice feel. They offer free guest wifi if you have some work to do and I have never had difficulty finding a seat (though I usually come fairly early). There is a neat little patio for outdoor coffee drinking and the natural light that comes in from the windows inside is nice. The seating and lighting is modern style and the coffee roaster you see as you walk in is pretty cool. I wouldn't say I have ever been impressed with the service at this location and I miss the personal touch I once experienced at the Old Town location on College from a few years ago. I understand that this has grown and that won't be the same, but I still wonder why customer service wouldn't be a focus for a local specialty spot. With the expensive coffee options here, it would really add to my visit if I felt like this was my place to be. I have never received bad service here, but I would certainly feel better about coming here and spending $4 to $6 on a cup of black coffee (as I do) if the service was a little more personal. That being said, I will continue to come here with my daughter for our coffee dates and enjoy a great cup of coffee. read more

Had the most ridiculous experience at Harbinger Coffee yesterday. Just wanted a cup of coffee. Asked if their chai tea latte could be made with lower fat milk. No non-fat or lower fat milk at this coffee shop. So I opted for a cup of decaf coffee. Nope, they have no regular brewed decaf coffee. Stopped in for morning drink. We had a cappuccino and an espresso- both tasted great. Service was good and the staff was friendly.

Careful: Decaf seems to have decent amount of caffeine in it. I tend to be pretty sensitive to caffeine but I love a great coffee! Coffee itself was amazing and after first sip, I thought this would now be my go-to coffee place. However, I felt extremely jitterly after few more sips. I understand decaf coffee isn't 100% caffeine free but given how jitterly I felt, the decaf coffee at this place seems to have more caffeine than other decaf coffee Im used to. Coffe wise, amazing though. So if you are okay with regular coffee, I recommend to give this place a try. However, if you are looking for a decaf and are sensitive to caffeine, be a little careful. read more

If you are a Starbucks lover, please consider not coming here. This will be what you may call "snooty" or "snobby", but it's craft coffee done very well. If you're used to adding a bunch of stuff into your coffee, you won't appreciate this place. Is the coffee expensive? Yes, because quality comes at a cost. Nothing makes me more dissappointed than getting a cup for $0.50 less and knowing it may as well be half the price. Do they have caramel syrup? No. Do they only use whole milk? As they should. The space? It's not "sterile", it's clean, with artworks from local artists. The owner is extremely knowledgeable and experienced, not to mention very kind and accommodating. If you're truly interested in expanding your palate, just ask for some guidance and don't just knock a place down because it's not what you're used to. read more

I stopped into Harbinger this morning largely by accident. As a craft coffee lover who is constantly seeking the best roaster and brewer I can find, I couldn't have been more impressed and satisfied. Jonathon is so incredibly knowledgeable and nice- not to mention talented. This was by far one of the best pour over experiences I have ever had (and I lived in NY for 4 years- where I experienced all of their top shops as well). I feel obligated to speak to the negative reviews here, they unfortunately seem to have a taste for coffee defined by Starbucks. They want sugary drinks that are rooted in a preconceived notion that black coffee tastes bad and that one can somehow make a latte with 2% milk?!? Also, spell-check for some of them? Jonathon prides himself on SPECTACULAR coffee and only provides ingredients(whole milk, homemade syrups, etc.) that bring out the best flavors coffee has to offer. I could not more highly recommend Harbingers to anybody who loves great coffee, or is looking to deepen their palate to the possibilities coffee has to offer. read more
