They have a very sneaky way to double charge you if you have a group. They put your people on sites…read morenot reserved and do not release un reserved sites then charge you for the entire block . Our camping club is pretty angry right now being stiffed for 5 extra sites for 4 days each. When we asked for them to be released they set them as no show and charged us anyway. Now they can double dip on those sites.

Our grandsons let everyone in earshot know when they caught a fish, they were so thrilled! We enjoyed the large open grassy hill and tree shaded hiking trails. Our campsite backed up to the pond and the view was so pleasant, making our camping experience truly memorable. We have camped at Hideaway for 6 years and highly recommend.

The owners live on site and are happy to help with anything you may need. Some highway noise can be heard from I-94, but it not disturbing due to natural fencing and water features in the fishing pond and swimming area.

So hands down we had the WORST EXPERIENCE trying to stay some where else today, a place we booked months in advance when planning this trip. So rather than beat ourselves, our camper, and truck into submission we called it a day and left. I called Jellystone it was less than 10 miles away, and they had openings. So I walked in the door and must have been a delightful hot mess, I think the very sweet woman behind the counter took massive pity on me and I am GRATEFUL!!!! She tried to give us the best site in the place, but when I advised we didn't have kids, she totally heard my brain and was like let me get you to a more quiet area of the park. With staff like this its easy to see why people come here and choose to come back. We are only here for a night but for the money and btw was completely reasonable you GET OH SO MUCH!!! This place is very resort like and I'm sure by design. If you have kids I don't think you can go wrong with Jellystone. We didn't use the facilities or playgrounds or pools but this place is not lacking entertainment for everyone of every age. And most people seem pretty respectful of quiet hours. I will say that the only mildly bad was the sites seem pretty stacked on one another : ( The sweet lady from the front desk knew me so well that she even came and checked on us and let me play with her therapy pup when she came back after work to walk her dog. That is what you call SUPERIOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!

Rockey's is the very definition of "family campground." It's a place where people bring their kids…read moreand pets to relax, play in the water, and sit by the campfire. Lots of, possibly the majority of, people here are on seasonal sites, and some make these these quite homey, with screened porches, hedges, light displays and statuary. Campers are packed pretty tightly together, but if you came here you probably weren't looking for solitude. Though there were a lot of people here, it was quiet overall. The owners were very pleasant and helpful. Other campers were pretty friendly too. The firewood we got was dry and easy to burn. We appreciated the cleanliness. The grounds were well maintained, and bathrooms and showers were kept very clean. Plenty of hot water in the showers, though water pressure gets weak if more than one person is showering at the same time. If you don't feel like walking all the way to the modern bathhouse, there are outhouses scattered through the campground, though I'd recommend just walking to the bathhouse. Rockey's is situated on a chain of small lakes, and there are some decent fish to be found in these. There's a concrete boat launch, as well as fishing boats and canoes for rent. When I was unloading my kayak by the boat launch, one of the owners said it was no problem for me to leave it on the lawn by the launch, and that I could safely leave all my gear by it with no worries. He as right. We were tent camping, which I think few people do there, and this did present some inconveniences. Some of the sites have few trees...like ours, and a little protection from the sun would have been nice. A lack of trees also left us with no place to string up our clothesline. There are streetlights along the campground lanes, which are handy for walking to the bathhouse after dark, but make your tent very bright at night. Rockey's doesn't cater to tenters, but some do come there, and for them it will be less than ideal. But for others it should be more than satisfactory,

I think the most mileage you could do if you loop around…read morethe entire place is less than 3 miles, but it is a nice changing scenery (swamps, hardwood forests, some pines, Lake Thompson, a creek and small hills all over the place. Easy enough for kids and seniors.

Every now and then in your camping travels you will make reservations somewhere just because it's…read morein a convenient location on your route and end up stumbling upon a true gem. That's what happened to us with Happy Acres! Originally we were scheduled to stay for one night but at the last minute had to change to four and the staff was wonderful about accommodating our request. Check in was a breeze with confirmation emails, informative texts leading up to our arrival and when we finally got there our registration packet was waiting for us by the office door. Our site (#71) was super easy to get to and was a pull through which was mostly level for our 33' trailer. I spoke with two staff members; one over the phone when I had to change my reservation (Matt?) and another (Sidney?) when I stopped by their very cute camp store to buy a couple of shirts and they were both extremely pleasant and polite. The grounds are beautifully maintained and there is also a pool and dog park on site. The only negative we found was the very loud, ever present road noise. Happy Acres is right alongside highway 69 which makes it super convenient to access but noisy. Luckily we were running out AC or fans every night which mostly drowned it out. We work remotely from our camper and both our Verizon and TMobile signals were very strong. However TMobile was the speed test winner regularly showing d/l speeds of 200+ mbps. We come to the Midwest every year or two and Happy Acres will definitely be on our list of campgrounds to revisit. We heard that they are expanding the # of campsites towards the back of their property and if they are full hookup we will be sure to try to book one of those. Thanks Happy Acres!!!

We had bought 2 atv's in march and decided that this would be the first place we would take them…read moreto. We have 2 commander 200's and a few minutes after we started on the trails, our atv's could NOT handle these trails. These are NOT beginner trails, not even intermediate. I broke a few parts off my bike, and my mother tipped her bike over twice. The only place we had fun at was the playground in the back which is a big sand/gravel pit but it was more of a mud pit since it rained the day before and we did enjoy getting completely filthy. unfortunately, we won't be returning any time within the next few years.
