This was our first time here, and we were not sure what to expect! (Unfortunately, a lot of seasonal campgrounds are not well kept up) but this place was immaculate! Absolutely beautiful area! The seasonal sites were well manicured with flowers and decks. Our site was a FHU adjacent to a huge grassy common area and shaded! They have a very sneaky way to double charge you if you have a group. They put your people on sites not reserved and do not release un reserved sites then charge you for the entire block . Our camping club is pretty angry right now being stiffed for 5 extra sites for 4 days each. When we asked for them to be released they set them as no show and charged us anyway. Now they can double dip on those sites. read more

This applies mostly to primitive/tent camping. The sites are nicely sized each with a picnic table and a spot for campfires. They're not very private though. You've got room to breath, but you're definitely hearing each others music and comings and goings.No fire rings, but there's a dirt spot at each site. Firewood is available for $6 a bundle in the camp store. You'll probably need two for a night so you may want to take that into consideration if you've got room to haul your own or have a cheaper option. There appears to be two groupings of primitive sites one under/along the treeline north of the office on the west side of the road. The other is a small grouping of 4 or 5 south of the office that spreads east to an open field with a dozen or so spots. The north row is closer to bathrooms, showers, trailers, water etc....but seems to fill up first and get pretty crowded the weekend we were there. The south row/field had no one when we got there Friday but seemed to get another 6-8 parties by mid day Saturday. There is an outhouse near these sites, no water source however so you'll have to hoof it towards the north spots. The only real problem here is there's a BBQ trailer that runs a generator all day right behind the store...it's not super hard to block out if you don't mind swapping that for the screaming and crowds of the other grouping. There's also zero eastern shade here, so mornings it gets HOT....however if you're along the treeline (not the field) the afternoon has excellent tree coverage. The bathrooms serve their purpose, but bring shower shoes...they're pretty muddy and wet. Overall it seems like a nice seasonal place for families, lots of activities and events and more golf carts than I've ever seen. The campground is quite nice & seems well enough maintained. Saw all the reviews about bathrooms, etc, but we found them as clean as could be expected. Not quite as clean as state parks, but I've certainly seen worse. We had a waterfront site that was so close to being perfect ... until a motor home pulled straight in to the site next to us (we have a backed in travel trailer) putting their patio abutting ours. Just kinda rude. The people were nice enough, but there's zero (sense) of privacy. When I called the office (and also discussed the neighbor's dog doing it's business in our area), they empathized but have no rules about pull in or back in. Literally deflated the entire week's stay and changed what would've (likely) been a 4-5 star review to the three I'm giving them. read more

Disregard the other reviewers that gave one star lol, the one person that mentioned the bathroom I had to laugh, I know for a fact the bathrooms are cleaned twice a day... as for dealing with the owner..... let's just say there is new Management now and things are pretty much totally different than they use to be, the Management team that is in charge now are Great! soooooooo much going on during the season on the weekends , bands, crafts , one of the best 4th of July fire works you will see anywhere... cornhole tournaments, chili cookoffs, fall festival, the list goes on, and No! I do not work there, I have camped there for years, my sons love it! Great fishing, great beach to swim! And GREAT People! read more

I love this campground! It's very family-friendly with several playgrounds and planned activities. The beach is a little small, but pretty nice. The campsites are good sizes. The store has some essentials and neat souvenirs. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the bathrooms are a little gross. read more

We've been here for 8 years as seasonal campers and camping here for 17 years. This is the best campground ever! Nicest bathrooms I've ever seen at a campground and yes they get dirty with all the traffic. I know for a fact they are cleaned regularly. The owner is the nicest person I've ever met and the staff do the best they can with all the traffic. This is a busy place and with that comes noise, children playing and laughing, adults partying and having fun. We have bands regularly and crafts for the kids. If you want quiet stay at home! Bathrooms are so disgusting! The cost of $40 to camp per night should provide clean bathrooms. Also, very noisy to all hours of the night and no one monitors the noise levels. As I'm writing this review at 12.30am there are people screaming outside still. Lots of traffic throughout the entire day till late evening. Lake is very muddy and lots of weeds. The bathrooms need to be bigger and nicer and the showers are in with the bathrooms which is so gross. Half the time the toilets don't flush. They advertise internet but it pops on and off. I have camped seasonal and weekend camping. The lake is what makes this campgrounds. Although you can't camp on the water for the weekend like you could years ago. My family and I went to this campground this past weekend and we were not impressed. The sites they have open for campers are very small. The sites are long but narrow. It was the nosiet campground I have ever been too. People up till 2-3am partying. Bathrooms were gross, they had standing muddy water in them. Posted speed limit is 10 but cars were zooming around the campground like it was a highway. One lady in the campground store looked miserable to be there, never smiled. The beach area had dark brown/black sand with pebbles in it. Definately won't go back. read more

my family and i have been camping here for 5+ years on seasonal spots. we love this place so much. the owner is amazing and is more of a friend to us now. they have so many activities going on almost every weekend, bands playing on busy weekends, a food truck parked by the camp store all summer, plus they're located on a chain of 5 lakes that's great for a boat day. everyone is like one big family. 10/10 recommend!!!! read more

I've been going here for years, and plan to be going for a lot longer. Great location, has a chain of 7 HUGE lakes, regularly maintained grass and fields. Lots of beautiful trees, but not too many to where its a annoyance. This campground has tons of options from boat rentals, to lake front spots, a beach, boat launch, even free wifi to the whole campground. Everyone here is really nice. The type of campground where you almost know everybody, even though its a pretty big campground. Easily the best camp ground in Michigan. I would highly recommend staying a weekend. read more

The owner is rude and quite unpleasant to deal with. There is virtually no room to park your vehicle. Forget about having more than one. The campsites are so close together you can hear your neighbor pass gas. It's quite similar to camping in a sardine can of a campground. It's a larger campground so you would think there would be more room but that's not happening. If you have an extended stay planned book way ahead. They don't like shuffling paperwork and doing all they can to get you in. If you work for the pipeline go north a few miles. There are a couple campgrounds that are way more welcoming. The way waffle farm treats you makes me think our money is no good here. Unless you're a seasonal or a regular good luck getting any kind of decency from these people. read more

We visited Waffle Farm Campground a couple weeks ago for the first time. This is a great little no frills campground. We chose an off-beach site. It was flat, grassy, and shady. We have a pop up camper, but this is an excellent campground for tents, too. The pricing is a little different in that site rental includes only two adults and kids over 10 cost extra. They also do not take credit cards. Probably my only complaint was that the bathrooms/showers seemed inadequate for the size of the campground. read more

We have been camping here since 1988. After showing the campground to my current wife she immediately wanted to become a seasonal camper at Waffle Farm. It is very well kept, and Bill is doing a excellent job as General Manager. There is plenty of room for vehicles to park. Most sites you can park two besides your camper. Some water front sites are not so lucky but, there are places for overflow parking. I have never had a problem with the management and they have always been quick to help us when we had difficulties of our own. read more

When we arrived, they had our reservation scheduled for a different weekend, in a different month. It was a holiday weekend so they only had one spot left. After the two hour drive, we took it. They didn't give us a map of the campground or any type of info at check-in. The non-seasonal spaces, especially the one we had near the pavilion were extremely narrow (no more than 20-25 ft wide). They are deep but your campfire and chairs are basically on top of your neighbors - it's ridiculous. The weekend we went they had live music Friday and Saturday night (nice if you like that) but they played until 11PM and it was loud. Not like you can get away by going to your camper. Personally, my husband and i enjoy camping to relax, enjoy nature, the sound of the camp fire and crickets, and maybe our own music in the background. Then they had fireworks....again, great for kids I guess but ZERO Heads up about this. Our dog was with us and not a fan. So she was freaking out. I was holding her in the camper for 30 minutes as she was shaking. If they had told us - fine, we can go elsewhere for the evening. There's also no where to hike or anything. It wasn't great for camping, rather a place to park your RV/Travel Trailer. Plus the disorganized booking - it was a disaster. read more
