Typically I really like this place but today I made a special trip for 3 ton car Jack's which were advertised for $18.96 a pair. When I went to check out, they told me the pair on sale were different from the pair I had. Both had the same make, size, and load capacity. First time shopping at this harbor freight, there was one older man by himself at the cashier, and two people wandering around sort of aimlessly, that in itself is not an issue, but there was a female employee blonde hair and tattoos, there who seemed agitated when I asked where I can find some parts, later was cashing out, with the older gentleman who was the nicest guy there, she takes over the cashier box directly behind, next thing you know she grabs a bundle of left over tools, throws them towards the older mans cashier box, lands on side, tools almost hit by my feet, mostly I feel bad for the older man who has to work with angry people. Might not be going there ever. read more

1st time here and walked in hearing whom was later identified as the supervisor talking down to an employee. Initially ignored it as the red headed employee greeted us with a smile asking if we needed assistance. The supervisor continues to loudly griping at the red headed about how he was to be putting some item out with red softly explaining he was finishing his 1st assignment and would be right on that. The supervisor was relentless to the point my husband commented he was ready to smack the supervisor just to shut him up. It was so degrading especially having customers. This went on 20 minutes with the supervisor finding more and more things to loudly humiliate him on. The red head was quiet and just kept everything we located that we needed (had a long list). I left feeling bad for the employee, didn't have time to enjoy the store visit. read more

Went in on a weekend so it was obviously a little busy. The store is clean and well laid out so it's a breeze to find everything and look through everything. They were low or out of stock on a lot of sale items and since they were so busy it was tough to try and get someone to check the back. Finally found my way up front with my cart of stuff and was treated to a slightly rude interaction with the manager, who was obviously a little flustered due to the level of customers in the store. The few tools I bought got the job done but are obviously not super high quality (one actually fell apart shortly after use and had to be rebuilt with bolts I thankfully bought at HF) - but you get what you pay for. Overall, I probably won't be back. The quality of the products does not justify the inexpensiveness of them (I'd rather pay 10% - 20% more at high end hardware store for the better quality) and it seems like service is hit or miss here. read more

Harbor Freight offers dirt cheap tools and a surprisingly generous return policy. This is a particularly convenient location with nice staff. The only issue I have with Harbor Freight is lack of long-term durability testimonials on mission critical items. For example, I would hesitant to buy something like a generator that would be used for many hours after an emergency hit. It would helpful if Harbor Freight could offer some data on how long these things last. read more

This place has everything. In one trip, I can get caution tape, bullhorn and a vest to wear . Seriously, its worked out well for me. I bought a small air compressor to keep in my car incase I got a flat. Either I jinxed myself or made a good call because I've used it twice so far and its totally worth its weight in gold. Nice clean store, great selection and prices. Everyone was help and friendly. Almost deducted a star because they are pretty aggressive on selling extended warranties. I really don't need to spend an extra 8 bucks to insure a $30 circular saw that will be used sparingly. read more

Carissa is the best at Harbor Freight in Crystal Lake. I've been there many times. She is incredibly knowledgeable. She works hard every single time to get you the best pricing on whatever your buying. We all know Harbor Freight sells for retail pricing what the big box stores pay at wholesale pricing and mark up. The big box stores should buy all of harbor freights items at retail, it would be far cheaper for them than what ever there paying now. Nobody beats Harbor Freights prices. I just purchased a 12" Gliding Miter Saw for about half of what any big box store was selling them at. Then I had the great pleasure of having Carissa at check out and she got me an extra $50.00 off the already super low price. She is worth her weight in Gold. If I were a wealthy man, I would hire her away in a second. I don't know what would prick her conscience to such a level of customer service but I can tell you she will be worth at least a million dollars in sales at there Crystal Lake store just because she is there. To think that the people who employ her think she is just a retail cashier? The Bible speaks of people who have eyes but cannot see. I hope someone at Harbor Freight is watching. If not, I'll bet someone from Walmart will be. Wherever she is, there will be great customer service. Thank you Harbor Freight and thank you Carissa!!! read more

We were in the Crystal Lake store this morning. I have been an avid HF buyer for 12 years. I have never had such a pleasant experience in any other HF as I had this morning. My experience involved an employee. Her name is Yvette. She was pleasant helpful and went the extra mile! We left a couple of items behind before e left Crystal lake she located my phone number and called me and held the items until I could return! WOW and Thank you Yvette! You are the best! read more

I stopped here today at this location because I needed an oddball tool, they carry a lot of those that come in handy. I needed a specific tool that AutoZone did not carry and this guy that worked there suggested Harbor Freight probably would carry it. As I was walking into Harbor Freight there were two women in the front having a nice conversation so I described to the one lady the tool I would need and this blonde very rude women with a tattoo that was on the register interrupted me and said No we don't have that!!! I responded with "oh really" and she then looked with a bitchy look and said YEAH REALLY!! real cocky! I just swallowed it down, held back from saying anything and can say I will never be back there just from that experience. As much as Amazon has killed all these stores they should be kissing our butts being very nice to get us to come back!! read more

I can spend hours in the store. It's clean, the staff are super friendly, and they have a huge inventory.
