Continue to be amazed how hard it is to work with the Studio 41 staff unless you have a large job. Called my sales girl I used for a past project and it's been three days of waiting for a price. There has been several situations with the staff that amaze me of how Studio 41 can stay in business. I went to another place to buy my lightening. I have heard that there are stark differences in quality of designers here. I unfortunately had the displeasure of working with Katia Cavallini. I sat with her for 2 hours on a Saturday, picking out everything to remodel my master bath. I needed to go home to check some measurements and told her I would call her back early next week. I called her that Tuesday. She completely forgot everything from 3 days prior, acted like she didn't know me, even when she pulled up my account and order. I don't expect you to remember every detail, but after 5 mins of her reviewing it, she said 'oh I kind of remember', when clearly she didn't. Feeling uncomfortable about the situation, I went in to place my order. Yet again, she didn't remember our phone conversation nor our original face to face conversation ...thank goodness I made the appointment. I should have trusted my gut at this point and switched to a different designer that doesn't have memory lapses. She was totally frazzled and scatterbrained when ringing up my final order, even though it was all in the system (i didn't change anything). When I asked her to print the order so I could review it before she ordered it, she got rude and implied I was accusing her of making a mistake. Low and behold, she ordered 2 of almost everything. She also forgot to give me a promised discount. When I pointed this out she said 'lady, Jesus Christ this ain't the peace corps' . First of all, I'm a physician in my 30s, not some old lady, and what does that even mean? Completely mental. So the order shows up and something is incorrect. I called customer service, who was lovely. They said they would ask Katia to correct it. I called 3 days later and Katia had NOT bothered to correct it and reorder the correct item (big surprise). So I just asked customer service to do it at this point bc I can't even deal w Katia anymore. And at that point, I told him the whole story about Katia (her absentmindedness, her rudeness, and lack of effort) and they said since that was the case they would correct the order for me. They ordered the correct item and that's end of story. But I won't be going back there anytime soon. read more

I have to say our initial visit to Studio 41 in Palatine went well. Sent there by our contractor and some good advice and great choices made. Then all goes sideways! Following receipt of deposit, very little communication received. Items that were due by a certain date...well delayed, but that was a communication that if we did not reach out we would not have known. Also, a part ordered by the designer, that was NOT needed was returned. Well, we were charged a restocking fee! Their mistake, we pay. Tile amount ordered by designer based on contractors measurement - overage of many unopened boxes. Well....yes they do not return any unopened boxes, so again their mistake, our cost. All in all would not go back here again if I were doing another renovation project. Have worked with our design studios that were much more customer friendly. read more

The experience with my studio rep was very positive except for the countertops situation. I had a situation where the countertop company mismeasured and expected me to pay for a replacement. Our studio rep didn't express any interest to hear my side of the situation and instead proceeded to tell me that the discount I was receiving was more than fair. Additionally, she designed my bathroom with a half wall off the shower and the countertop installer said they dont measure or install countertops on those half walls but my rep never mentioned that key detail of her design. Other then this situation the experience was positive and my rep was very quick to respond to questions and help. read more

I would recommend Studio41 for their products and pricing but note that the designer you get will make or break your experience. We replaced our kitchen cabinets and had the unfortunate luck of having Joanna as our consultant/designer. I am a home owner not a contractor and need to rely on their knowledge and advice in making my decisions. I did go in telling Joanna I wanted Shaker cabinets and gave her our measurements. She entered all information into her computer and gave us the layout - we have a condo so not much room for variation - listed the cabinets we would need and pricing. After we took all the information home and compared with my kitchen I realized she did not include one cabinet in the order or pricing. When we returned to place the actual order she fixed that -- without apology. I pointed out that she had added a filler panel where two upper cabinets met in a corner and this would make the upper cabinets not align with the lower cabinets. She insisted this had to be done in order for us to be able to fully open the cabinet doors in the corner. I reviewed with my contractor who stated all our measurements were consistent with my old cabinets and should work without the filler. We went ahead with the order. After installation my cabinet doors open about 80% of the way. The real problem was not the measurements but the style of door. If I had ordered a standard door instead of a full door all would have been well. This is something Joanna should have known and advised as a solution instead of just using the measurements and adding filler. I liked the full door style but had no idea it wood affect the opening of cabinet and drawers. This is were using a consultant/designer should come into play. read more

I needed a new Kohler Kitchen faucet was available basically "next day" all over the internet but decided to support our local shop as I had great luck with Studio 41 in Schaumburg during our large remodel. When I ordered the faucet was told about 2 weeks - after 2 weeks I called and was told "oh so sorry looks like it's gonna be another month" I realize things change but there was no follow up and why if other vendors could get it to me in "2 days" was it taking "the one of largest Kohler sellers" 6 weeks + - I asked to cancel the order because I couldn't wait that long because my current one was broken - I was told "they don't really allow that" I could order something else. They had done nothing but take the order over the phone - they eventually agreed to refund but not without a stink! Run away! And I am not the only one with problems there....ask around! read more

I had order a kohler tub from a Lowes and the order was delayed which put us in a Terrible situation because it was holding up our project. I called this location and I spoke with Kim. Kim was able to be get me the tub that I really wanted same day including the drain. She went above and beyond to really help us out. She was amazing. In all the craziness I got to the store a few minutes after closing and they still allowed to pick the order. Everyone was so nice and I really felt well taken care. If I could give this place zero stars I would. The showroom is lovely, but the staff seem as though they are not interested in helping. My husband and I are doing a big Reno on our house. the young woman at the desk was friendly and directed us back toward the tile room, the kitchens and the windows. From there, it was as if nobody knew how to help us, and truly were uninterested in helping. The young woman near the tile room kept asking if she could help but whenever I asked her a question she stared at me blankly and told me she wasn't sure and she didn't have experience with that. She finally gave me the card for someone else who wasn't there that day. So we moved over to countertops, we found something we liked, but nobody who could help us. So we moved over to windows. Again, nobody. I found a man sitting at a desk so I asked if he could help us, he told me he didn't know anything about windows but he would try. He fumbled around with them, honestly, as though he had never opened a window before in his life. He seemed amazed that the double hung windows opened from both the top and the bottom, and he worked at Studio 41. Finally he referred me to the "window specialist" who, could not tell me any pricing, but gave me someone else's card, who wasn't there that day. we left, and left the cards at the front. It's got a lot of pretty gadgets, but don't expect any help. read more
