Both will and Brian were great help in the store helping me choose the items that I want and even loading the power frame into my car the day I went back as I wanted it home right away due to a back injury. We purchased from these guys a few years back. We then were silly, and purchased a few pieces from the ashley furniture in Geneva. STAY AT CURLYS. Geneva was as bad as the bad reviews say, complete with dishonest delivery men and absolute snobs. Both my husband and I are regretting not sticking with Curly's. I have gone into Curley's 2 times now, in 4 months. I am newly divorced and moving into my own place. I have to get 2 couches, 2 beds, end tables for front room, bedrooms, dining room furniture, mattresses for beds, dressers, everything. The 1st time I can in, in March, I walked the whole store, before I was finally acknowledged. Today, it was the same thing. I'm not sure if it is because I am a woman or what. Either way, I will keep my $5000.00 and put it where I know people will appreciate it. I even reminded Brian that I was the one that stopped in a few months back and I now have my move in date. That meant nothing either...Not a word back to me. I am all about supporting local, I wish they were. After coming back to work and reading the comments, I am happy I am not buying from them any longer. Sadly, every time I drive past, no cars are there, like ever. What an absolute joke. Where shall I begin? We placed a large order for furniture on 6-10-20, a grand total of $3639.15. Note that this included the "5 year curly protection plan". From that day on, this place has been full of excuses and an absolute disaster. We were patient, we were kind, we were understanding. We did not receive the first part of our furniture order till the end of August 2020, and the second half at the end of September 2020. We even had to change the second couch we purchased as the delay would have been even longer, so we picked something else that was available. Our first delivery we received a damaged chair, which we returned on the second delivery, and waited months for a refund check to be sent. That was a struggle in itself. Fast forward to more recent times, less than a year later, and our couches are in horrible shape and damaged. First repair was no issue at all, I emailed and gave Jay the couch info/pics (5-24-21), couch was picked up after material was in, received a call when it was done, and it was brought back. Nice and easy. Provided some cushion covers for our other couch which had tons of piling. Cool. Then same couch that was repaired ripped in the same exact spot less than a week later. Not to mention our other couch which had similar damage on a back attached cushion on the interior portion. Spoke with Jay who said he would put the orders in for materials for repair. Fast forward months later, no response no calls, NADA. Sent Jay and Jerry three emails total (dated 8-10-21, 8-18-21, 8-25-21), no response. Called and left a message at the store earlier this week, no response. Finally called today 9-1-21 and spoke with Molly, received a call back the same afternoon from Will, who now advised our repairs are not covered. What kind of joke is this? Supposedly the Ashley manufacturer deemed our couch damage as "pet related" and not covered, therefore Curly's was not reimbursed for the first repair. Per Will, no pets were ever mentioned to Ashley's, and now any further repairs would be out of pocket on our end. WHAT A JOKE. What is the point of the five year warranty? Never once was "pet damage" in question. And the reason for no response from either associate Jay or "Vice President" Jerry? None. Per Will, supposedly I was already informed and aware of this update. What? When? I will be using every single outlet possible to voice my experience with this company. Facebook, Instagram, Google, BBB. Wherever I can post, I will. My husband and I are two hard working people who invested our money and trust in this company and their products. Now we are left with damaged couches of poor quality, which we paid over $2,000 for, and we have to try and pay for repair or find money to purchase new furniture. Avoid this place at all costs. I don't know how this place has ANY good reviews. I placed an order for a bedroom set online. I saw the shipping time was 4-6 months at that time. When the representative from Curly's called me, to confirm my order, I specifically asked, "if I were to cancel this before it is shipped, is there a charge." She responded that as long as the item had not been shipped, there would not be a charge. I agreed to keep the order active. Less than 10-days later, I contacted the company to cancel the order. I was assured that it had not even started to be shipped yet so assumed I was "good." Well you know what they say about assumptions. :( The "vice president," Jerry Dutko emailed me to inform me that they would cancel my order but they were going to charge me a 25% restocking fee. Um what? You didn't restock anything though. I confirmed it. Mind you - this is over $500 in a fee - for doing literally NOTHING. I then sent Jerry the link from the consumerprotectionlawfirms.com that also confirmed, this is not a legal action. You cannot charge for something that was not done. I indicated I would contact an attorney and pursue this in small claims if they imposed the fee. Jerry was continuously rude and condescending and DID charge the fee. I have contacted my attorney and he is currently drafting a small-claims petition (which will include any/all fees I have incurred). I am NOT this type of person and am deeply saddened, that in a time of such struggle, a smaller business would be so cold and obstinate. Absolutely horrible experience with Curley. We ordered a dining table back in September and decided to cancel our order due to the long waiting time. When my wife contacted customer service to cancel the order, Jerry told her that order can be canceled by 25% fees will be charged for the cancelation. When she asked why, the answer was "this is our policy written on our website". He was also very rude and obnoxious raising her voice and not letting her speak. We placed our order over the phone, not even using thier website and there is nothing about this fee in our purchase contract. I checked thier website and was shocked. I found it hidden in the return policy rules, although in our case we had nothing to return, we just canceled an order which was not even in the store for us to pick up! This is absolutely rediculious. Here is their draconian policy. Be aware. "Cancelled orders are subject to a cancellation fee of 25% of the full retail value of the product at the time that the product was placed on order. We selected Curly's Furniture because of their 4.6 Star review, but that is obviously not a good idea. "Same Day or Next Day Delivery Available On In Stock Items" BUT NOTHING IS IN STOCK, so you're going to wait 3 months to get anything shipped. The website doesn't tell you what's "in stock" and if you call and ask, they can't tell you either. Nothing compares to what we wanted unless we pay more. It's a classic story of marketing bait and switch. We originally ordered a couch and was promised next day delivery and paid extra for in-home setup. We find out 1) the couch isn't in stock and 2) in-home delivery is suspended due to COVID (which is fine, but take that option OFF of your website and don't milk extra money out of people) and 3) the "manager, owner" whatever was VERY unhelpful, unapologetic, rude, and has no idea how to handle a business or how to speak and deal with customers. I was told 8/12 weeks for my delivery but I was soooo lucky it arrived 1 week after I ordered it! Amazing but when the delivery guys came they refused to assemble my table but on my receipt it clearly says I paid $100 extra for assembly I had to contact their store so they could speak to their delivery drivers ultimately they assembled my table and I am a happy customer and I will return for more stuff!! Just last week a sofa that I had ordered months in advance from another furniture store was back ordered till November, I ordered the sofa BEFORE Covid-19. Needless to say using Covid as an excuse is a flat out lie! I didn't even get a courtesy phone call, I was notified via text message which is so cowardly. I am in the process of moving and have no sofa. I searched online for a furniture store that had the sofa I wanted in-stock. I came across Curly's Furniture Store and a sofa that I loved. I called Curly's immediately and the woman (Nika) who answered the phone helped me and was so understanding with my urgent need of a sofa. We went in the store in Dekalb and found a sectional, that was delivered a week later. Love the couch, except one thing. After the delivery guys left, we noticed a stain on our couch. I've called curlys numerous times and CANNOT get ahold of someone. I've left messages when the "phone number" actually goes through, with no call back. I called the delivery guy's personal phone number since he called to tell us he'd be running late before delivering the couch. I explained it to him. He said that anyone at curlys would tell me to do the same thing: "use oxy stain remover on the couch." Although he was a super nice guy and seemed genuine to care about my concerns, I should NOT have to use stain remover on our brand new $2100 couch. I took my 80 year old mother to Curly's to purchase a lift chair recliner. There were several on their website but only one model in the store. The gal helping me told me it would take 14-20 weeks to get a different model. Wanting something sooner, we looked at two smaller recliners. One had a pullout lever to recline the chair but required the person to use their legs to put chair back into upright position. I explained that my mother didn't have the strength to operate the chair in that way. There was another chair that had a handle lever on the side. My mother sat in that chair and liked the way it felt. (NOTE: There wasn't really room to fully recline the chair in the store.) My mom purchased the floor model. AFTER the girl took my mother's check, she said there was a no return policy on floor models. My mom liked the chair so we felt there wouldn't be a problem. How wrong we were!!!! We took the chair home and got it set up. My dad and I went to buy groceries and when we returned about two hours later, my uncle was at the house because my mom could NOT get out of the chair. The handle lever did NOT work to lower the footrest. I called Curly's immediately and explained the issue. I was told to bring the chair back the next morning. My uncle and I loaded the chair into my car right then. Sooo the chair was in my parents' home for TWO HOURS. When I took the chair in the next morning, the two guys working did not have any better success with the handle lever. One of the guys was part-owner at Curly's and said he could have a brand new chair the next day. The next morning, I took my mother back to Curly's and the manager unpacked a brand new recliner. Before getting my mom out of the car, I asked him to sit in the chair to ensure it worked properly...it did the SAME THING as the first recliner. I was then told that my options were store credit (my parents do not need any other furniture) or a 25% restocking fee!!! UNBELIEVABLE!! I asked to speak to an owner or someone who could settle this fairly. On the phone, I told him I appreciated the efforts of the store to try and fix the situation and went so far as to offer $25 for the effort they made to bring another chair for us to try. I was told their policy was a 25% stocking fee...$75!!! No leniency! Basically, too bad for you!! So my mother paid $75 for a chair she sat in for TWO HOURS!! Website clearly stated, "Truckload sale: 30,000 square feet of IN STOCK furniture available for delivery", but after calling to confirm my order, the associate notified me it would be 12-15 weeks before our sofa could arrive, due to it not being in stock. We later called the store to cancel our order, and the owner conveyed that there would be a 25% cancellation fee...for a sofa that was not in stock in the first place and would take another 2.5 months to be delivered. I found a patio set I loved online, and a place called Curly's popped up with by far the best price...even better than a certain *prime* online seller where I buy pretty much everything in this COVID world we live in these days. So I placed my order, having had maybe too much wine and not thinking I should have called first to check about lead times or researched the store online. Within three hours of placing my order, Curly's called me and confirmed the order. They told me to expect 4-6 weeks before my furniture would be delivered. Four weeks later, they called and asked if the next day was good for delivery. They showed up on time, set everything up, and the furniture was in perfect condition. I finally got a hold of someone and they told me that it was ordered and will be in in September. Say what?! They said it takes 8-10 weeks. At the end of July I called to find out when my items would be delivered. I was then told, 6 to 10 weeks. When I asked about just canceling the orders I was told I could but it would cost me a 25% restocking fee. Restocking fee- really the items weren't in stock to begin with! So we waited...and waited. In September I called again about my order and was told now its 12 weeks out IF they even get in. I was so upset! In October I finally got a call Curlys stating my order was in and ready to be delivered. On October 12th, the items were delivered uncovered or protected and dirty, the delivery guys damaged my entryway frames and the french door frame bring the items in. Yes I took many pictures and even talked to the people at the store and they assured me they would replace the fabric, fix the damage. I called a few weeks later to make sure they were going to stand by their word and fix my sofa and love seat and the damage to my home, again I was told the fabric had been ordered and they would call me in 2 weeks to set a day up. We put our 25% down as required, called back LESS THAN 24 HOURS later to cancel our order because we decided we didn't want to wait 16 weeks. They refused to refund us, because of their "restocking fee" policy. Funny - you know nothing had even been ordered, let alone needed to be restocked. The man who answered the phone said they didn't have my order info since it was going to be shipped out of the Streator store so I called the Streator store. That guy said he didn't have any of my info since I ordered it out of the Dekalb store and it's all paper orders, they can't look anything up on the computer?! So he gave me a number for a "managers store" in streator. Called that number but it just rang a busy signal because all the lines were busy. After calling repeatedly about 15 times I was able to get a hold of someone who said my furniture was showing in route to the store and should be there tomorrow. 10 days later and no call from Curly's so I called back on Aug. 26th. The girl who answered couldn't tell me anything other than my furniture was still not in. So I asked her what happened to the truck it was on 10 days ago? She got mad and went to get THE SUPPOSED OWNER/MANAGER/VP NAMED JERRY. Jerry came on the phone and said ma'am I'm going to cancel your order so we don't have to deal with you anymore!!! I said I don't want my furniture canceled I just want to know where it is!!! Jerry then said if I can be nice he won't cancel my order. They had some great pieces -- including a fantastic lounger/recliner and beautiful dining set -- that they delivered quickly and smoothly. I made an online purchase for furniture on October 12, 2020. The total cost, including delivery, was $810.00 for 3 pieces of furniture. The website noted only that there might be some delay in delivery due to Covid, but did NOT mention a timeline. I received a call the next day that the furniture would take 12+ weeks or more for delivery - this was a message left in my voicemail. I phoned back and asked that my order be cancelled. This was within a day of my original order. Nowhere on the website was there an approximate time noted, and 12 weeks is an extensive amount of time. Like most right now, I work at home given current pandemic circumstances. I explained I could not wait that long, and therefore wanted to cancel my order. I was told I would have to pay a 25% cancellation penalty. I escalated the conversation to the store manager, Jay, who told me they had a policy they had to follow. Even after explaining to him that there was no information on the website providing consumers a timeline, and that I was cancelling within a day of placing the order, I was told in no uncertain terms that they have a policy and they could not break it. It is unconscionable that an order placed and then cancelled within a day, especially given the extent of the delay, which is noted nowhere on the Curly Furniture website, would not be refunded in its entirety. That they felt the need to call and alert to the 12 weeks is evident that even the business acknowledges it as extraordinary. At the very least, they should offer an opportunity to cancel orders within 24-48 hours given the delay. I filed a complaint with the BBB and Jerry, whom I believe is an owner, refused to provide the 25% refund. I referred to their "cancellation policy," which again does not address the fact that his business cannot deliver purchases in a reasonable amount of time. In essence, the company is bating its customers to purchase products, and only after the purchase is completed, do they acknowledge the extensive delays in getting their products. Went into Curleys after water damage at my home to replace lost items. Ordered bedroom , no problem, delivered and set up. Went back a week or so later ordered two more items. Two weeks have gone by so I called to inquire and was told my items have not been brought to their store and their deliveries for this week were yesterday. No information was provided to me about when to expect my items (which I could have purchased out of town) and had delivery by now. When I said this, I was told that there would be a 25% restocking fee. I prefer to deal locally as much as possible, but they brag about their customer service and their low prices, however it seems to me that they nickel and dime you at your inconvenience. They charge a 3% penalty if you pay by credit or debit card and then the 25% restocking fee in the event of any return/cancellation. Once my items arrive, I WILL NOT be doing business with Curley's Furniture any more and will definitely warn others about their policies and the serious lack of customer information they provide if you call to check on the status of your items. I could have my items and paid for the shipping from either Rockford or Naperville/Aurora for less than their 25% restocking fee. NEVER AGAIN!!!!!! read more

We chose curlys after hearing amazing things from friends and the community about them. Turns out they have absolutely ridiculous customer service. The people are wonderful and extremely friendly, BUT they as a company are completely unwilling to right their own wrongs. We ordered 2 couches and an entertainment center from them, the couches arrived on time without issue, they even came with throw pillows that we weren't expecting. The entertainment center was back ordered and we had to wait a week longer than we were orginally told, so in the mean time they gave us the floor model TV stand to hold us over, again very nice of them. When the entertainment center did finally come in, they were 30 minutes late on the delivery time and the guys set it up so fast that I wasn't even given a chance to look it over before they told me to sign the receipt so they could leave. I checked it later after putting my toddler to bed only to find it was absolutely trashed. Every single piece had at least 1 chip, the backing was not fully attached, hardware was missing, wood was splintered and actually cut my finger, staples were sticking out, it had glue and black paint all over the place. It was completely unacceptable for a brand new piece. I called and left a voicemail that night after hours telling them about the issues and asked someone to call me first thing in the morning. No one called, so we went into the store to see what could be done. The manager said he inspected the items himself before they were put on the truck to be delivered and they all looked fine, meaning something must have happened during delivery, which may have been true for a few of the issues I found. They said they could order us a new one, we could exchange it for store credit for an upgrade, or return it less a 25% restocking fee that we were NEVER made aware of. We were afraid to exchange if for the same item because how would we know that one wouldn't be garbage too? My husband called the owner to see what could be done about the situation, and he was arrogant right from the beginning. Completely unwilling to help remedy the situation beyond what his manager had already offered us, and rude the entire phone call. He even said "Sometimes there is nothing we can do to make you guys happy". We didn't want to pay the 25% and lose all that money, so we decided to upgrade and were given a written receipt with the cost of our new entertainment center that should available in 20 days. Everything seemed to have worked out. BUT I just got a phone call stating they quoted us the wrong price and we would have to pay an additional $156 on top of our new written receipt price, which is outrageous. If we decide to cancel the order they are still unwilling to wave the 25% restocking fee. We called the better business bureau and found we are not the only people complaining about them. We are filing a complaint with the BBB in hopes of resolving the situation. After everything we have gone through they are only after our money and are completely unwilling to help remedy a situation that they themselves caused by trashing their products. read more

This has been the worst buying experience that I have ever had for a piece of furniture. I bought a couch from them that came in damaged. The replacement has some issues as well; a manufacture's defect according to their repairman. They took forever to get the part and came into my home expecting to spend 5 hours in my home for repair of their product. Before he attempted to repair my couch, he broke my lamp and yelled out, "I'll pay for that!" The repairman pulled the staples out and saw how new the couch is/was and asked why they couldn't just give me a replacement? That prompted me to call the store...again. The manager, Jay, promised a new couch, but has not made good on that promise. The repairman put some of the staples back in, but not all. I purchased a 5 year warranty from these people. A month later, I still don't have a repaired or new couch. The owner has not called me at all. So much for customer service and satisfaction. I will NEVER buy anything from them again!
