I understand right outside of Home Depot there are lots of illegal aliens, drug addicts, criminals of all kinds BUT not allowing people who are FREQUENT customers that know employees by name is insane. After verifying that the store had five tool chests in stock that I was looking for, I drove out of my way to purchase just one as a birthday present for my son. When I got to the store, the clerk at the register said yes we have those and started to go get one to help me Until some other woman came over and told him no, you can't sell those , we have them on hold. She came back and told me the same thing and I said you have five you and can't sell me one? She said no they're all spoken for, for another customer. The clerk who was helping me even told her there were no hold tags on them. I asked to speak to the manager, Kevin, who came over and told me the same thing. I asked him if they had taken a deposit from the other customer? He just repeated the same thing that they are spoken for. I asked if they had back flushed them out of inventory so that the website was correct? He looked at me blankly and said the same thing, that they were spoken for by another customer. It just so happens that those five tool chests were the only ones in stock in the Las Vegas Nevada area and they sold them all to one customer. Oh wait, they had not sold them yet, they just took a phone reservation. I guess if you know Kevin, you're OK, because Kevin can do whatever he wants and screw other customers out of merchandise that they should legitimately be able to buy. I have been a customer for over a decade and an inside track member for a while now. A coupon came out stating that track members will get three free items after you spend $25. Anytime a coupon like this comes up I buy stuff and the cashier hands me the items that are free. This has happened every time I have used such a coupon. Yesterday I spent $100 and asked the cashier for the free items. He stated you get one free item for $25 spent, I said I spent a $100, he said you should have brought up the free item, then I could have given it to you then. I told him the coupon stated three free items, he just looked at me. He stated if I want the "One" free item I would have to return all the items I just bought buy them again to get the item. Even if you aren't handy or think you don't like tools, you'll love Harbor Freight! This unassuming little store sells all sorts of handyman items at near wholesale prices. It's so much cheaper than Home Depot! The inventory isn't huge so they may not have what you're looking for, but it's fun to browse, especially on days when they are having a sale. I'm new to the party but it seems like they are generous with sending out coupons so you can save even more money. There's a nice selection of power tools, axes, tool chests, and random junk you don't even know you need (like a safe that's made to look like a book and solar powered outdoor security cameras). Everything is well organized and the store, while not fancy at all, is easy to move around in (wide aisles). They even offer a free lifetime guarantee on most of their tools! What? The employees are super friendly and knowledgeable, and parking is easy. Note that the actual store is located BEHIND an abandoned storefront, which makes it look like the place is out of business. Good place for cheap tools. Recently, items includes a corded drill, dowel jig, hex quick release socket adapters, zip ties.. Most of the stuff is so much cheaper than the brand name stores like Home Depot or Lowes. The stuff isn't like super bad quality either, as you may expect from the price difference. I'd say they are pretty decent quality with care of use. My set of impact sockets seems super heavy duty. Same for my set of hand files has done some work but still as strong as ever They have coupons for some cheap stuff or sales weekly. Like my recent trip there, went there for 1 thing, came out with 4... iunoe if those sales are a good thing or how cheap things are ... I like the selection of tools and the price is not bad either. A lot of people complain about the quality of most tools at harbor freight but I have never had a problem ( take care of your tools) some items are made a little cheap but harbor freight usually has a warranty or lifetime warranty on most items they sell. All in all I have no issues so far with any of the tools I purchased from HF so long as you take care of your tools even the cheap ones last long. read more

My trip to Vegas would not be complete without checking out Harbor Freight. Took my friend there and he found a bunch of things to buy.

I understand this is a must visit for those visiting here. We are from Hawaii and don't have a Harbor Freight, and they do not ship to Hawaii either, so can't order on-line. My mister have been anxious to come here given the magazines he read and notice the ads for unusual, and inexpensive tools sold here. It wasn't quite all he thought it was going to be, but he did find things he wanted and purchased. Other heavier items he wanted would have been too heavy and expensive to bring back with us. We spent about an hour + browsing, store wasn't as big as we thought it was going to be, but still we have nothing like this in Hawaii. I bet we'll be needing to return during each trip to Vegas. read more

Horrible customer service. Guy spent two seconds with from from having fun in the car back talking about whether or not to hire someone cuz they acted 'a little autistic maybe.' They had a big chuckle about that then went outside to do nothing. Returned inside to find I needed help and he couldn't have gotten rid of me quicker. Didn't go into depth on any of the tools I was interested in. He showed me an air hammer and told me the compressor I was combating buying wouldn't work. Didn't try to show me what i needed for the job just rattled it off and then walked away. I stayed for a little while longer trying to figure stuff out on my own and then told myself forget it and went to Home Depot next door and spent almost $1300 on my new compressor, Air hammer, adapter and hose. Where to start. Let's see. I have been wanting to go to a Harbor Freight so I can purchase a recommended paint sprayer. Luckily, there was a store nearby to where I am staying. I found what I was looking for within a few minutes of entering the store. Here comes the nonsense. I waited in line for well over 10 minutes because the customer kept asking questions regarding a battery for an item they were purchasing. Wait a sec? Aren't you supposed to do that while you are still shopping and look for an associate for those questions? You would think. Not!!!! Then to make matters worse, the cashier and associate took the item out of the box to see if the battery fits. I even heard the cashier tell the customer, "when this lady bought this blower...." I know he is not going to go into a story while the line has continued to form. I am not finished. The guy behind me got mad and left his stuff on the floor. He walked out. The other cashier kept taking other customers without looking our way. So there was no organization for the lines. Let me state the obvious, I will never return to this store. read more

I usually have a pleasant shopping experience at Harbor Freight on Decatur Blvd , but last night i had a sales clerk totally dismissed me by telling me to go to the other cashier for help without looking up at who was in front of her and walking away. I ordered a generator online one night. The next morning I asked to cancel. The response back was "it takes 5 days before we ship it out". I resent the email to cancel. they said they don't know if they can. Really? That's ridiculous. they sent the generator anyway. They say i can but i need to take the generator to fed-ex or to a harbor freight store. I ORDERED THIS ONLINE BECAUSE I CANNOT DRIVE RIGHT NOW!! I dropped in to buy some fuses (60 for $8.98 I think it was) which I purchased. Go back out to my car after doing that and damn if it wouldn't start! I pull out my Viking car jump box (Harbor Freight equipment I bought long ago) to jump the car. Holy shit, guess my battery took a dump and a half because when I hooked it up to the battery, the car didn't turn over and sucked the life out of my jump box!! I walk back in to see if I could just charge the jump box so I could go home. The guy at the register says "Nah can't do that" and ask in a nice way WTF? He was cool enough to get a supervisor and he also said "No way". OK so I had a great experience up until no one wanted to help me get the fuck outta there to go home. I mean this thing would have charged in less than an hour and what the fuck would it of hurt for them to let me charge my jump box. Is this a bankrupt them problem for just a little bit of electricity.....NOTTTT!! Well, this isn't enough to make me quit shopping with HF but it is enough for me to say I wont be coming to this location again. I have always received good service from the Harbor Freight Team at their S Decatur Blvd, Las Vegas NV location but today's service was excellent. I went in today to exchange a generator. Mike assisted us the exchange and went above and beyond with his customer service. We had not removed gas from the generator we were returning. Instead of just telling us we had to deal with the gas he worked to find a simple solution and not only gave the best idea for handling the gas removal, but assisted us in the process of moving the gas from the old generator to the new. Cheap tools might not do it for me, but they sure do make my husband happy. I found myself standing in an aisle of wrenches pretending to be amazed by the sound of a ratchet wrench and the color-coded socket wrench set. I wandered around and discovered lots of oddities, like a hearing aid, some ceramic kitchen knives and a metal detector. They pretty much have every tool or doodad you could use for a home improvement or car-related project minus the parts. The attraction is cheap prizes and lifetime warranties. We left with some vacuum device for calibrating a carburetor. The deal was he could have his vacuum if I could get a pair of hot rollers. Went there a couple of days after Black Friday for the first time ever. I was pretty impressed by their prices. Ended up buying a couple of things for our kitchen and the garden. About a week later, they had a green house on their ad, that we were interested in. Since they didn't have it in the store, the manager gave us a rain check and let us use their store coupon. Wonderful place to find interesting household items and tools to help get jobs done, where you may need it a few times and you don't really want to invest in the Ryobi or the Hitachi tool at Home Depot. Great "starter tool" selection, and honestly they are wonderful about returning things if you aren't happy with them or if they break, so I don't see what all the fuss is about. The staff is wonderful & VERY helpful! I have been a member of the savings club for years but never seem to get the coupons or have them on hand, and Christina at the checkout is always ready to help me find the coupons for the enormous amounts of small items in my basket - space bags, zip ties, magnets, you name it! They really go to great lengths to help you, and Christina is especially knowledgeable about everything in the store and what's on sale or what will be on sale. The women that work here are actually pretty impressive "tool gals"! I love this place and it's really hard to beat in any way! If I need nuts and bolts, I go to Home Depot. :-) As an artist, this place really saves my wallet & makes my overhead go way down, so I can afford to do more in my art! Been coming to this location off and on... they are always busy! They have cool coupons that people apparently do not READ. Their 20% clearly READS : cannot combine with any other coupon etc... this means even the free item coupon. I agree because they have run out of items due to the misunderstanding of combining these! I read many poor reviews based on MISUNDERSTANDINGS at this establishment... SO! I hope I can 'yelp' and set the record straight for those poor cashiers dealing with illiterates. This place has a few old timers whom I will gladly give my business to because they tell it like it is! There are only a few stores that I can spend hours in. There are certain stores I don't like to bring my wife with me also. Harbor Freight Tools is that place. I get the flyers in the mail and start my wish list. It's like when a a kid gets the Toys R Us catalog. One has to approach Harbor Freight Tools a little different. Are you a professional contractor that has multiple jobs weekly? Well then this place probably isn't for you. You might want to spend a few bucks more to get some better power tools. Are you the weekend warrior or the DYI home owner? Then, this is your place. They have a lot of great tools that won't be used all the time, but will get the job done. These tools won't break you wallet either. I have purchased some specialty tools here that I needed for certain jobs and they were great. I have also purchased a cordless power drill that was a piece of garbage and waste of money. The trick is to go see the quality of the tool and then see how often you will use it. If you only need it a few times and it's pretty cheap, then get it! Overall this place is awesome. I love going here and finding some great deals. You have to come check this place out.
