I drive by this Harbor Freight at least 3 times a week. I have been shopping here for quite some time. This time, I went in to look for a workbench. They had exactly what I was looking for and it was on sale. Sweet! Employees there were very friendly and helpful. The store is clean and organized. There are many items with great prices and they always have items on sale. Definitely check this place out if you need any tools.

Wide aisles.

Even if you aren't handy or think you don't like tools, you'll love Harbor Freight! This unassuming little store sells all sorts of handyman items at near wholesale prices. It's so much cheaper than Home Depot! The inventory isn't huge so they may not have what you're looking for, but it's fun to browse, especially on days when they are having a sale. I'm new to the party but it seems like they are generous with sending out coupons so you can save even more money. There's a nice selection of power tools, axes, tool chests, and random junk you don't even know you need (like a safe that's made to look like a book and solar powered outdoor security cameras). Everything is well organized and the store, while not fancy at all, is easy to move around in (wide aisles). They even offer a free lifetime guarantee on most of their tools! What? The employees are super friendly and knowledgeable, and parking is easy. Note that the actual store is located BEHIND an abandoned storefront, which makes it look like the place is out of business. It's not. This particular location is close to a Home Depot in case they don't have what you need, but always check here first. Super cheap.

Some ratcheting wrenches, 1/2 socket wrench, and offset box wrenches.

I love this place. Cheap, decent quality tools. I've had Craftsmen tools that broke before the Pittsburgh stuff did.

The manufacturer wanted $7 for the pair plus $11 for shipping. Amazon had packs of 50 or 100 for $6-$13 with shipping included, but the earliest delivery was Monday. As a last-ditch effort, I checked the local big-box stores, but nothing looked promising. Then I remembered McFadden-Dale and decided to make the trip before they closed. They didn't have the exact 6-32 x 7/16", but they did have 6-32 x 1/2". The staff was incredibly helpful and took the time to check the thread pitch to make sure they'd work. Best of all, four screws cost me just $0.56 instead of nearly $20--and I didn't end up with another 40 or 90 extras I'd now have to find uses for. Their credit card system was down, so it was cash only. They also close at 2 PM on Saturdays and are closed on Sundays.

Often times I'll go to the general home improvement stores and only find the most popular items - which is understandable. Or, if they have some unique items, they'll only stock a couple pieces and not enough for what I'm needing. Often, I'm looking for unique sizes of different nuts and bolts. On top of it - I'm also looking for stainless steel and specific compositions with different heads. This store is so vast! There's so many aisles and if you haven't been here before, it can be overwhelming. However, everyone who works here is SO NICE. I cannot say enough about their knowledge and willingness to help - even walk you to find exactly what you're looking for. This place is really a one-stop shop for me on so many days!

This is a REAL HARDWARE STORE. I was pleasantly surprised at all they had and the cleanliness of the store. The employees were nice and helpful. This is the kind of place I remember going to with my Dad back in the Carolinas when I was growing up. They have lots of bbq supplies , sauces , rubs , and of course bbqs like Traeger and Big Green Egg. They occasionally have cookouts for special occasions like 4th of July and such and of course I've missed everyone. They have a small Traeger that I may end up going back to buy. Also lots of tools and gardening equipment to include shovels and tree trimmers. Lots of bird feeders , it's just nice to see the selection they have here. I would definitely recommend you checking this place out.

National Hardware Show

National Hardware Show

This was my first time attending the National Hardware Show at the Las Vegas Convention Center…read more The show is divided into two major sections--lawn, home, and garden--and regular hardware items such as tool boxes, welding helmets, plumbing supplies and everything else you could ever lump into the "hardware" category. I spent more time in the home and garden section even though most of the items don't have a use in Las Vegas for many of us. Since we've traded grass for xeriscape, many of us have no need for lawn mowers, weed whackers, et. al. The lawn and garden section was in the North Hall of the convention center. I met some very nice and interesting people. It's a much more laid back show than the geeks of CES. I eventually made my way to the Central Hall for the regular hardware items. One of the standouts in this area was the large electrical displays. If I were giving Benjamin Braddock advice this year, I'd tell him, "LEDs". There were so many vendors with lights of various kinds that used LEDs to generate bright lights. After the Central Hall, I went outside to the outdoor, recreation, and tailgate area. They had a number of food vendors here tied in with some kind of cooking item. There were several vendors selling outdoor pizza bakers that rotated the pizzas as they cooked. They also had samples. I was surprised at how much food and food related vendors that were at the show. I expected a lot of wrenches, toilets, and other hardware items. Imagine my surprise when I'm given samples of beef jerky (teriyaki flavor) on entering the show to get my credentials. I'll attend next year. It's too good a show to miss and it's at a great time of the year!

This particular location on Tropicana at Durango is so much larger than meets the eye. I loved the personal service here, the organized rows, and the well-curated selection of merchandise. I originally went there for Car Key Duplicates (which are the best deal here, skip the dealership!) and left with an armload of goodies you'd be hard-pressed to find elsewhere. Ginger Chews, Sarsaparilla, and beeswax and who knows what else? It all felt very Pacific Northwest or a caring hardware store I used to frequent in West Hollywood. I will be back on my next home project and for basic maintenance supplies, too. This Ace location is ACE and lovely. Pleasant shopping experiences make a difference. You can get harassed by the solar saleswoman behind the desk who won't leave you alone though. Went again this week for more pellets after telling myself not to give this place business. At checkout, I noticed one bag had a hole and pellets were falling out, cashier told me to go put it back. Why, so it's someone else's problem? What a joke! I'll dive to the southern highlands location instead
