Recently, I've had a few above average experiences, where store employees have help load my truck with pavers and concrete border, which was great customer service, but it's the exception. Wandering aisles looking for help can get frustrating, needing help in plumbing and ending up in electrical because there is no one around has caused me to leave the store more than once. Rarely will I visit Lowe's without knowing what I need and where it is, the mobile app has come in handy. Again, that's a lack of customer service, if I have to turn to my app for help. Returns have been very easy, which is nice, using my Lowe's Reward, especially if I no longer have the receipt. Self checkout is hit and miss, if there is an item that doesn't have a SKU and they need to look it up. Even if I present them with a picture of the item and stock number, they still feel the need to look it up. Policy? Maybe but my time is valuable. Overall, if you don't need sale help, the big box store is average. Go in knowing what you need and it's a good experience. Don't go in expecting knowledgable, readily available sales associates.

Eventually after browsing, we made it back to the rocksalt area... And we were met by Chris a manager who said that the salt is on back order, but will be here Friday. Throughout the entire conversation, he was happy, and composed, and extremely helpful. We asked him a question about the rocking chair that we passed and he said it might be on sale. If they don't have that one left in stock, we can actually take that one off the floor. He offered that because we asked for that one, so I didn't have to put it together! He understood why we wanted the assembled one. He ran back to the back room and checked, and the one on the floor was the only one left so we would get it for a discount he said. He checked and then said...said we are going to give you $50 off! We didn't even ask that yet! This made our day as did the thorough explanation about the rock salt being not being available but explaining about shipping rotation that will be happening in the future to avoid depletion of their stock. Next thing Dave walks out to our car and helped us get the chair into the car. " A hatchback". His help is greatly appreciated and again we did not ask for help they just volunteered. We've been buying our Christmas tree from Hopper in Paso Robles for just about 25 years. I was…read moretalking with another customer this morning at the lot, and he was saying how they used to buy from Home Depot. Less expensive, but you don't know what you're getting once the tree is removed from the netting. You know exactly what you're choosing from Hopper Brothers, and the prices were better this year. The trees stay healthy if you take care of them, and we don't have to cut it down ourselves. Yes, we did give our family that experience back when they were young, but nearing retirement age means I'd prefer the tree already be cut and ready to take home! Take in a wrapped present or canned/boxed foot item and one of their coupons, and Hopper also offers a discount. Merry Christmas!
