Miners in Morro Bay has a rude manager who allows employees to behave in unsafe manners putting customers in danger. The store's prices are much higher than Home Depot's even considering the drive into SLO. Home Depot also has a much larger inventory. Unlike Miners Home Depot is ADA compliant and provides mobility shopping scooters for disabled customers. read more

I use to really enjoy going to the store in Los Osos. A few weeks ago I learned something about the staff( not all of them) . I believe there is one female with a big ego and likes to make drama when consideration for others should come first. A couple years ago one of my people was struggling with a psychotic break while in the Los Osos store struggling to find help. Law enforcement was called and the situation was delt with peacefully. Stabilization took almost a year. Now my person is stable with little memory of this past encounter. For the past almost four months we had shopped there separate and together without any negative encounter. About three weeks ago we were picking up a small sprinkler item and while my person was browsing the store I was surrounded by at least 8-11 employees. I was told my person was not allowed there due to something from over a year ago and they needed to look out for the customer. Now I was unaware of any of what took place a year or more ago until I was surrounded by all these employees. I mentioned my person was stable now and we have been coming in . I saw my person heading towards us so I left. My person asked me what this was all about. I said they must be having a meeting. This has been very upsetting to me. The employee with the ego had called us to the stores attention. I did call the headquarters and after about three weeks I was told we are welcome anytime and will be treated as a respected customer. At this time I have no reason to enter this business . I have not nor will I share this story with my person. Having the illness is tough enough. I am hoping if my person ever does go to this store all of the employees will behave appropriately and not be so naive. We have lived here long before this store was here. Horrible, horrendous experience. Will never step foot in there again or give them a dime of my family's money. Went in to pick up something my husband ordered online that said it was ready to be picked up. When I got to the check-out stand an older gentlemen named Joe balked that I was doing a "pick-up" order. Asked for the first name of the order which I gave him and asked what it was. I honestly didn't really know so I guessed it was some type of filter as that was what my husband had mentioned. 5+ minutes later he comes back without anything saying there is no filter and no order for said name. I tell him I have a confirmation email with an order number. He proceeds to take my phone without asking and jam his finger to look at the picture of the product only to SCOLD me that it is not a filter but some type of gutter product. SORRY SIR. At this point my baby has started to squirm--I have to take her out of her stroller. He finally appears with the product only to tell me that I have not paid for it--INCORRECT again. We have paid for it. I have a digital receipt (not that he ever asked or cared to ask) and he proceeds to tell me that I'm wrong and need to pay. At this point I ask to speak to a manager---the manager is just about as bad as Joe. Rude, curt, and tells me he is busy helping another customer. Doesn't even make eye contact with me. Once he finally acknowledges me he tells me I have to come to a completely different register across the store...mind you I have a baby I'm carrying, wallet out, Christmas lights I want to purchase and a stroller...BUT I HAVE TO GO TO A DIFFERENT REGISTER so he can prove to me that I haven't paid for the item. Get to the register and guess what! We had paid for it....they were wrong. SHOCKER. At this point I tell them that I am appalled at the customer service, the lack of consideration for me as a customer and the overall way I was treated especially as woman and mother. JUST YOUR STANDARD RUDE OLDER MEN who don't know how to do their job effectively or efficiently and could care less. But do they apologize for their mistake, for wasting my time? No of course not. See you never, Ace Hardware Morro Bay. Your prices suck anyways. read more

The Morro Bay location has one of the best garden centers. Their prices are not the lowest, but by far they have a nice variety of all types of gardening & landscaping plants, pottery, soils, tools etc. The garden associates are very friendly, helpful & knowledgeable. They also have the ability to special order something one wants, but is not in stock. Big box stores can not do this. The garden center is clean, organized, and well tended to. They (and the San Luis Obispo store) have the best selection of succulents in SLO county. They offer some very hard-to-find selections at times. read more

This Ace hardware is tucked away out of sight but really is a great store for this small town. The store has everything you would expect from an Ace, but what makes this location different is that there are so many staff members to help you that you don't have to waste time looking around the store to find what you need. We have shopped at Miners for over 30 years, but I am disappointed that we do not recommend eating the free popcorn at the Morro Bay location. At my last visit, I was disgusted to see one of the male employees stick his bare hand into the popcorn maker and grab a handful of popcorn. Even before Covid, this should never be allowed. I always looked forward to a bag of popcorn during my shopping trips,but now that I know even the employees don't take public safety seriously, we'll skip the popcorn. read more

There was a employee sitting in his running car outside of the axe hardware store in Morro Bay it was 7:35 when I pulled up to to doors and it didn't open some lights were off but most of them were still on and I opened my phone and looked up the store to make Shure it was open and the employee stepped out of his car and said we are close and hopped back in and that was that but all I needed was a pair of work gloves I said and he just closed the door. Whenever I need an idyllic pastoral break during my student days, I would buzz up to the nursery at this Ace Hardware store. It had a lovely creekside garden, which unfortunately was destroyed during a creek rising after heavy rains, but the store has done their best to recreate the atmosphere of the former place. The new garden features unusual planters, which are some of my favorites, and arranges the new plants with eye-catching sensitivity. The plants are also perfectly acclimatized to the fog bound coast line,where we can go for a month at a time with no direct sunshine. They also seem to specialize in plants that thrive on the coast, so that you don't waste your money on something that just won't feel at home here. The sales people are both caring and knowledgeable, leading me to spring for some of my more serious investments in horticulture. We rescaped the front bed with a lining of gravel, then got 3 huge terra cotta pots and planted three miniature fruit trees, lime, lemon, and tangerine to fill them. A little reminder of Tuscany, whenever we drive up to the house. I also got a loquat tree here for my patio garden, which showered me with about a thousand delicious sweet-tart loquats last year. Prices are competitive here, and there is an easy drive-up loading zone. Watch for the Miner's Ace sales and plant away! read more

This morning we call the Lumber Department at Miner's in Morro Bay and spoke with Patrick. We explained that we wanted to get a 3/4 inch 17 x 21 plywood to firm up the cushion of a leather chair. I have been very happy with the customer service here. The store is neat and organized, and well stocked. I recently purchased an expensive gallon of paint and while it was mixed correctly (i.e. the right color)- I didn't like it once I started painting. The lady who works in the paint area was so nice, and worked to change the color to a darker option I chose. It took a lot of time on her part, but she even seemed to enjoy the problem solving aspect. She would add a little of this and a little of that, and kept going until she had it just about nailed. i have been a long time customer and have made many purchases and been really upset with customer service with my local ace hardware! The issue is the frequently rude attitude employees give me when i come to there store 30 minutes before they close! I am constantly being followed and asked if i need help when i express i do not need help and cashiers have been pushy and on one occasion rude to myself and my girlfriend, so much so that i was denied using my ace points to save 5$ and was told it's to late to ad it in because they didnt want to because they were closing in 5 minutes and it is a very uncalled for especially since i never stay past there time they do close! it's half the staff that's just rude and unhelpful and other employees are very kind especially the woman who works in the painting department has always been helpful and very polite unlike the older gentleman that could use a lot of work on being professional to customers read more

Ihave complained to the management several times about this and they have a deaf ear. In the los osos expanded store the nuts and bolts rack is laid out in such a way that many of the drawers are at ground level and hard to reach and unreadable from eye level. I am an older person who does not want to crawl on the floor and then with difficulty try to get up. The store personal ( who are all great ) have heard the same complaint from many people. They are frustrated as well as myself that the corporate headquarters will not listen to people who are making an effort to help. The so called " helpful place " is not so helpful at all in this respect. read more
