They get 1 * because they did provide me 6 blue crabs steamer. They don't get any more because they appeared to have been steamed 4-5 times. So over cooked the leg meat was black and hard. I understand full moon shedding and don't mind a paper shell as long as the meat isn't so overcooked it's mealy or grainy. Very disappointing especially when they were barely 5" yet $5 each! Recently paid well over $220 that included shipping and one dozen of their so-called "heavyweight crabs" yet received one dozen large size crabs at best. The crabs received were two to three sizes smaller than what I paid for. So basically they stole well over $100 from me on this one purchase. You can fool me once but not twice. I will never buy from them again. Last week I got some scallops and crab cakes from Rippons in Selbyville for my husband's birthday dinner. It was so delicious we decided we wanted to have it again last night. Harbor House was the only seafood market we were aware of so my husband went to purchase a pound of scallops and 3 crab cakes. I had previously seen their scallop pricing at $29.99 a pound so I assumed I'd be getting the same quality as at Rippons. Absolutely NOT. They looked great and if good size in the bag but reeked like smelly fish even after soaking them in water. Cooking them stunk the whole house up. I believe this place is using skate instead of real scallops. If I had been there I would have told them what they could do with their frozen (who knows where they were made) crab cakes. Worse than something you'd but in the frozen section of a grocery store. Cooked them anyway and one bite was too many. In the trash it all went. read more

Tried this restaurant with the family, and I was in the mood for seafood. First thing pulled into this huge well-kept parking lot. As soon as you walk in you slide across their extremely slippery floor. If you survive the entry you then are greeted with the typical type of crab house except that this one is upscale. Service was quick and very welcoming. We ordered an app. the hush puppies. They were a little bit off and covered in powdered sugar. More like a desert doughnut hole. I am working in Easton this week, so driving back to Delaware, I started craving crabs ! remembered seeing "Harbor House" and decided I'm NOT cooking when I get home. Quick review on "Yelp" to see reviews... health score 100/100! I ordered a dozen male crabs $40.00 # 2's to go . After going in their retail store there was no pungent "fishy " odors ... I added 1 lb. WILD caught shrimp $10.00 , and dozen little necks $4.95 . prices are super reasonable . We both thought crabs were heavy and full . They did not use J.O. Or Old Bay .. they made their own seasoning (QAQ), but the seasoning turned out to be super good and with a heavy hand of seasoning. One of the clams shells was not open and was full of pluffmud . UGH ! Overall we would purchase seafood from Harbor House again. Fresh cut meats and a butcher available on weekends. Get your Surf & Turf on. read more

On our first couple of visits here, we tried a pound of the raw shrimp, and they were pretty good. However, I thought the shrimp labeled as large were closer to a medium size. We tried the littleneck clams and they were also good. The prices on both items were very reasonable. I agree with other reviewers that the service is friendly and helpful. However, I was disappointed that our last purchase, a pound of jumbo lump crabmeat, was imported from Venezuela. I am wondering why they would import crabmeat from Venezuela when we are so close to the Chesapeake Bay, which is the best source of blue crab in the world. It has made me start to question the sources, quality, and freshness of the rest of their seafood. I try to eat locally-sourced foods whenever possible, so I will continue my search for a seafood store that features more local selections. read more

Placed an order on the 3rd of July to be picked up on the 4th. When I went to pick the order up they forgot my dozen crabs and I waited while they got them. Went home and started to eat my crabs first... the crab was light, the meat was an off white and mushy so I spit it out.... second crab light, same off color meat... opened the third, smaller but a little heavier but the meat still did not taste right.... the next crabs shell was cracked...... the store was closed and I could not call... I had stomach cramps and could not eat my steamed shrimp or scallops. My brother did and said they were good.. Next day I still had stomach cramps and felt a little nauseated... I called Harbor House and they agreed to replace them... these crabs were much better white meat and a little fuller.... so I ate a couple of them... Unfortunately I got violently sick to my stomach.... I have had diarrhea, stomach cramps, and nausea all week... waiting on phone call back from doctor..... Our family has been getting Seafood from Harbor House for over 40 years this is the first time I have ever gotten sick. BEWARE OF SEAFOOD!!! read more

This is a fish market that will cook up crabs and shrimp on order. There is no seating to eat your food here. I travel great distances to get good food. For me it's just another excuse to do a road trip. Last week I went to get crabs from 2 places in Baltimore. I live in NYC. One of the places I've been going to for at least 12 years. This place has them beat by a mile. All the ones that I ate so far have been meaty and well seasoned. Got the number 1s which right now are pricey at $90 per half bushel. In another couple of weeks, prices should drop quite a bit. Also got 2 pounds of shrimp. Also very well done. The wait was about 20 or so minutes for cooking, not so bad. I can always tell when they (not here) throw in a few dead ones. Everyone I've eaten from here has been really good. It's just a bit over 200 miles to home from here but when the urge hits, this is the place I'll come back to. read more

I have no idea how these people are still in business. We paid $220 for a bushel of crabs and only received a half bushel. We live in Milford and had to drive all the way back to Seaford to get our bushel and received no discount! The "manager" was so unprofessional and was asking us to point out who screwed up our order in front of all the customers and employees, we felt terrible for the person he kept pointing out. We apparently received "the best number 2s" and they were absolutely awful. They were dry and so small barely looked legal and didn't have any meat in them. I have never been so disappointed. The manager is a joke, I understand mistakes happen but he offered no remedy to the poor customer service and our drive back and forth to Seaford. Absolutely pitiful.
