Abbott's on Broad Creek (Laurel) has a great selection of seafood dishes and has a great patio. Was in Delaware for business and found this business a year ago and enjoyed it. This year, I was back in the area for work again and this place did not disappoint. It was just as good as the year before and I had a chance to visit a few more times. Tried the following over a few visits: - fish and chips, excellent crust and large pieces of fresh fish, the slaw was a great side and the Old Bay fries hit the spot - blackout cake, very very rich, needed to takeaway to finish - mussels, the bivalves here has some natural pearls... beware when having the mussels, it isn't sand that's making that crunch, its tiny pearls; although the flavor was great, having the eat around the pearls made it quite the experience, to each their own, I did see in the news that a patron in a restaurant in the area found a rare pearl in their meal worth $$ - scallops risotto, this was my favorite and will be ordering again when I'm back in a few months The Happy Hour deals are pretty good and check out their weekly events for live music, trivia, and other regular events. All regular drinks are on the house. The staff was great and attentive. The patio, bar, and regular dining area had good coverage and had great lighting. We were driving back from Norfolk to NJ looking for a dinner stop. We arrived around 430 and were surprised that they had happy hour. I got the pork tacos - plentiful and delicious as well as the crab and artichoke dip with pretzel sticks - both on HH menu. Hubs got the brisket tacos and said they were very good. We got the beer that Angel recommended- IPA on tap. Angel was very professional, thorough and efficient. We would definitely recommend. read more

The ambiance was very nice. Dose have tables on the deck overlooking the river. The service was real good. I can't remember my waitress was very professional. Now the food goes downhill from here. I had Crab imperial eggs Benedict on biscuits. The definition of crab imperial is different than mine. It was just a bunch of shredded crab. The poached eggs were over cooked. Now the hollandaise sauce was strong lemon sauce. The potatoes and mixed fruit were good. I did force myself to eat it. I know I shouldn't wait till I ate it to complain. The waitress did adjust my bill. Which I do appreciate. I only giving it 2 stars. I will go back give them try again before I recommend them. I have had people tell me they are good. Wow! Hit this place for lunch on Valentine's Day. Glad we got there early. I'm sure reservation only after lunch because this place is amazing! Flawless service. Bloody Mary perfect! I even glanced over to see our server inspecting and cleaning a wine glass before bringing us a glass of Pinot Noir. Fried oysters thinly battered and delicately cooked...perfect. Shrimp and Grits! We had a fabulous on-site catering experience with Abbotts. Carrie helped us with the details for our daughter's baby shower for 80 guests and did a wonderful job. She was thorough and very attentive to all of our questions. On the day of the event, Angel and Leah handled our party flawlessly. The food was delicious and Angel and Leah took care of our guests without missing a beat. Most importantly, they helped keep me calm by quickly responding to my requests and frequently checking in with me. Extra bonus was that it was a beautiful day, so our guests got to enjoy the deck and water views. I would highly recommend Abbotts not only for dinner but for any larger gatherings. This is an amazing hidden gem! The food, the service and the location are all amazing. We were just driving down the road and found Abbott's by pure chance. We will go out of our way to go back again. We can recommend trying their fried mozzarella appetizer. It is like nothing you have had before. They added pepperoni and honey along with an amazing dip! The watermelon salad was fresh and incredibly tasty. If you like wings, you should try them with their "Keystone" sauce! Dessert? Try the creme brulee. I have a magical memory of a creme brûlée I had in France which is my gold standard. Their's was right up there. Our waitress, Cat, and the manager, Angel, made sure we were enjoying everything. We stopped by Abbottd after going to Trap Pond State Park on our way back from Rehoboth Beach. We were having a late lunch so it was almost 3 o'clock by the time we got there the restaurant is really nice. Sit down please with good service. They also have a banquet hall in the back. seems to be the upscale restaurant in the area. we ordered a bunch of stuff. I had the holy cow which was shaved beef or meat with cheese on a bun. My daughter got the Italian press, which was going to beef sandwich with pesto sauce on it really nice like a Panini. My husband got the lobster special with sweetbreads while it was delicious. It was a really small plate of food. Just a single piece of lobster with sautéed mushrooms and sweet meats. It was definitely not enough food for an adult and my husband is one who does not eat much. For the price it was a small amount of food. My friends got the loaded nacho, which was delicious. We also ordered the watermelon Greek salad. The shrimp and grits was delicious according to my friend. For dessert we had the brownie sundae. I was a nice warm gooey brownie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The strawberry sorbet , according to my kids, was too natural tasting . I think they wanted something more sweet and less fruity in nature. Overall, a really nice little find in the town of Laurel. Today (3/29) we went to an event where Abbot's catered and it was absolutely delicious. The baked brie, the caprese kabobs, and the peppers stuffed with Boursin cheese were just a few of my favorite things. I will definitely be recommending them to anyone who needs something catered. In addition to the delicious food, the Abbott's employee who was keeping the food stocked and set up was super nice and informative on all the dishes, while still making sure everything was kept refilled and fresh. 10/10 recommend for an event. read more

Aaaaahmazing food. We were viewing a house in Laurel and trying to decide if we wanted to move to the town. We jokingly said we'd see how the closest restaurant to the house was for food. If we really were basing our decision on the food here . . . we would have made a cash offer. We stopped in for lunch. After ordering coffee (which was excellent) we decided to order three things to share. We started with the mushroom baklava. Other than being just a tiny bit overbaked, it was life-changingly awesome. Menu listing: Mushroom Baklava Butternut Squash, Pistachio, Goat Cheese, Honey, Blueberry Gastrique - 15. I hate to admit that (if nobody would have seen) I would have gladly licked the leftover gastrique from the plate. It was truly a perfect balance of umami, nutty, sweet, fruity, acidy, etc. One of the very best things I've eaten in a very long time. I would love the recipe. So so so so so good. It was seriously tempting to order a second one . . . but we had two other dishes coming. The Oyster Caesar Salad: Fried Oysters, Lardons, Red Onion, Cherry Tomato, Avocado, Tabasco Crouton - 19. Everything was good. The oysters were tender and sweet in a crispy coating. I wish there were at least two-four more oysters. The ratio of oysters to lettuce was off. Even after cutting the very small oysters into 2-3 pieces each, there were way more bites of just lettuce without any oyster. I'd also amp up the amount of garlic in the dressing. It was good but would be even more dreamy (and Caesar-y) with more of a garlicy zip. We also ordered the Blackened Salmon Tacos: Salsa Fresca, Pickled Shallots, Chipotle Aioli - 11. They were pretty blah in comparison to the other dishes. Not bad, just not that unique. They came with the apple-jalapeno slaw. It was ok, but had a foamy texture that felt odd for a slaw. Maybe it was fermented. Not sure. The slaw was the only thing neither of us wanted to finish. They had a unique drink my husband tried. It was a basically a pumpkin white Russian with Tito's vodka and a pumpkin cream liqueur. It was served with whipped cream and what tasted like pumpkin spice sprinkled on top. It was excellent and definitely a heavy pour. I'm allergic to alcohol, but can typically handle a single sip. One sip of this and I felt it. I was expecting a lot of "filler". Nope. It was a lot of booze. Not cheap, but very flavorful and a nice change from the typical cocktail. I'm still not sure about the house we viewed. But I'm 100 percent sure I will return to this restaurant. (and they can send me the recipe for the baklava if they feel like it). ;) read more

Came on a Friday Night for our anniversary dinner. Ordered pan seared scallops ($32) and Softshell Crab entree. Not a bit of sear on the scallop. Clearly boiled in a too cool fry pan. Softshell entree was 1 crab over corn for $24. Medium crab cost is $5, corn $1. Charging $24 is robbery. BTW you need to clean the gills out of the Softshell before preparing. Not what we expected. If you haven't been to Abbott's On Broad Creek, in Laurel, you are missing a great spot. Carol and I were there for our first meal yesterday afternoon, and we were glad we went! A great spot on Broad Creek, with views from the dining room and the expansive deck. We found it inviting, comfortable and friendly, and the food was very good. I had garlic mussels, which were wonderful, followed by the crabcake sandwich, which was substantial. It came with cole slaw that was spicy and crunchy, which I loved. Carol ordered the meatloaf, with garlic mashed potatoes and green beans; unfortunately, the meatloaf was a little too spicy for her, but our server, Angel, brought her a grilled chicken breast, which she liked (and I got to take the meatloaf home for me! Our server, Angel, was awesome, and we would go back, just to have her again! After our main course, I joked that we were eager to see the dessert menu, but would probably not have anything...until Angel told us that they make all their desserts from scratch, including the BROWNIE SUNDAE!!! It came (yes, we ordered it) with a warm, soft brownie, beneath vanilla bean ice cream and a wonderful chocolate sauce. We shared it and finished the whole thing!!! If you go, ask for Angel, but be aware that they are closed on Monday. You can choose the dining room (with creek view), the bar area or the deck, which looks out on the creek. My wife and I attended the Mother's Day brunch at Abbott's. It did not meet their usual standard. Meat selection was turkey, beef and ham. The turkey was OK, the beef had little flavor. May be our taste but many people are not into Brussel sprouts and eggplant parm. The hericot verts (green beans) were cold and did not seem to be cooked at all. The best features were the oysters on the half shell and peel yourself shrimp with Old Bay. They were delicious. Should have stuck with those. We will not do a buffet there in the future. read more

Came to eat saturday, around 5pm, no crowded yet. I ordered a bison burger and my wife ordered scallops. Her scallops were slightly undercooked but not bad. My burger was cooked to medium perfection. I went to bite the burger and a noxious brown liquid shot out onto my plate, it looked like my burger ate at taco bell. Ok I tasted the goo and it was a salty mess. I tried to eat around the goo but I should have sent it back. I ordered a side of pasta which was seriously under cooked. I gave it too our waitress and she brought it back of house never asking if I wanted anything else. If this was my first visit it would have been my last. Only four stars because some of the food combinations are odd or off. Asian flavors mixed on a plate with pot roast or cajun spices just doesn't work. Mac & Cheese was a bit bland. We love Abbotts but just want to ask question, we were in recently for Happy Hour. Gteat Happy Hour choices for rail drinks and food items. I however requested Tito's with club soda, charge $8.00 per drink with an additional charge of $2.00 for heavy pour per drink. Have not had that charge before and was told "That's the button next to drink on computer." Most restaurants might charge heavy pour if vodka/whiskey on the rocks? Not with club soda. May I please have your thoughts for myself and other clients that love to enjoy Happy Hour at Abbotts? Guess next time we should all just order rail drinks if mixing with club soda? We were looking for a nice eatery on water and end google suggested Abbott's and we were not disappointed we shared two delicious dishes a crab Caesar salad, and fried calamari. I had heard about burger so my husband tried it. It was cooked correctly but I like when bigger is as big as bun. Not the case here. French fries good but not hot. I had onion soup which was tasty but Caesar salad lacking a distinct Caesar dressing. I wanted the baked Brie appetizer but waitress said they were out. Got Chocolate flourless cake for dessert. So glad to see them opening in Milton. Looking at the Laural menu it looks like some great food created by the Chef. Sorry to see there is only a salad for vegans. And not many healthy alternatives. Rice, Potatoes, Steamed veggies, it doesnt take much. Not everyone is Vegan, Not everyone is looking to eat healthy. But there is enough of both to make a difference. We were traveling and stopped here for lunch. It is a pleasant place with outdoor seating overlooking the creek. It was clean and nicely decorated. The staff were attentive. My husband ordered pork chops and I had pot roast. He said his was very flavorful and he enjoyed it. My dinner was superior. The pot roast was very tender and moist. It was served with well seasoned mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts. The veggie was excellent! They were tender and had just a little heat. They were candied to perfection and had a sweet and smooth onion which added even more flavor. The portions were huge. Kudos to their chef! Don't miss this gem. read more
