Our kids have not gone to this school but my review is specifically for Ms. Amber. She called me back after some confusion with my tour scheduled by the hotline agents servicing other centers. She explained that this specific center has a long wait and they do not anticipate cancellations. She did not want us to go through the process if my son is going to age out by the time there's availability. I explained that my son has ASD and she even took the time providing info about where her previous kindergarten graduates with ASD went next that I may want to explore. It was such a pleasant surprise for someone to take the time calling me back let alone recommending other options when they will not get anything out of it. I have a bit of regret though not discovering this place sooner and possibly having been able to send my son here. Thank you again, Ms. Amber. To this mom who has been so conflicted and confused, your recommendations opened up more possibilities for us to explore. More power to you and the center! read more

I am looking to bring my second child here after my first was here through the pandemic. My child was in Kindercare from toddler to preschool. I chose this site due to the location and other parents recommendations. I was not disappointed. When my child was a toddler the teachers were wonderful helping my son transition in and cry every time I left. They helped him with his feelings and lovingly distracted him. When the vocabulary was lagging they very gently told me and I was able to get him evaluated. Long story short, he impressed everyone with his verbal abilities now. I could have moved him to preK at a public school at age 4 but I am glad I did not. He is now in kindergarten and doing great. I must comment on price and the number of adults per child. I thought the price was reasonable. Education has to be invested in for our children. If you want additional education for your children then you are going to pay a little bit extra. If you don't like it, well sorry to be the first to tell you that our society doesn't value children or women much. If it did, then our teachers would be paid more and our schools would not be dealing with a ratio of 1 teacher to 25 students. I think the job done at the center is completely worth the cost when I was there and now. They got us through very tough times without extra pay. I am grateful for the teachers and staff. I have to say they taught me some techniques as a parent. I will try to get my second child into this center as well. read more

great school, from infants 2 weeks to 5 years old. both my boys went here and are now graduating, the first 4 years ago. the teachers are super experienced most over 10 years and some 20 years at this very center. Amber had been there for over 9 years as the center director and is very experienced. they are always staffed, and I thank her for that. never unexpected closures even when staff are out due to illness (this is a good thing, they take infectious precautions seriously.) they have been looking for a lunch vendor but it's hard to find one because they are so small. their summer program is amazing. activities every day. both our boys have autism and they have handled the delayed potty training and other behavior issues without problem and been accommodating with the school IEP evaluation. I am so grateful that we have had this school prepare our kids. my older son missed it prek because of the pandemic and with my second I now see what a diffefence that made. read more

First off I never thought I would be bringing my daughter to a daycare, But with no regrets I'm glad I found HUCLA kindercare, the infant and toddler teachers are amazing. I love how passionate, caring and professional they are when it comes to taking care of the little ones. New I have been meaning to write a review for the longest time but just never found the time. Our son is now 2 years old and is still loving, enjoying and thriving going to Harbor-UCLA KinderCare. When he was in the infant room. He was loved greatly by all his teachers. It is true that it feels like an extension of our home. Me and my husband feel happy going to work because we know our son is happy at his school. They are so attentive to his development and always updates us of every step. Ms. Mary knows what she is doing and is loved by all the kids. In fact, every kid that moves on to the toddler room still gives her a hug because she is loving, generous and pays very good attention to details. Everyone is amazing! Ms. Yolanda and Ms. Rachel are pretty awesome too! They guide you to what foods to bring and all you need to do is relax and listen to food advise!!!! Then there's Ms. Brenda and Ms Priscilla both amazing teachers to our little one in the toddler room. Once our son moved to toddlers it was a very easy transition for him because they slowly ease the kids to it. They would always tell me new things about our son almost everyday even without me asking. They are both so great at what they do and always give their 100% and always love our little ones unconditionally. Ms. Maureen teaches at preschool and also one of the best teachers there. She has taught our son to be respectful and also work on his drawing and art skills. You can never go wrong sending your kids to this daycare. They care a lot and teach our kids a lot as well. My son has been going here since the beginning of the year only, so I don't have much to say just yet... This school is very convenient for me, as its walking distance from work. You need to be buzzed in to gain entry into the school, nice safety measure. Overall, the school is bright and colorful, everything is nicely labeled, there are family pictures everywhere, and, most importantly, the children are happy and well-mannered!!! This is a nice, clean facility, and the teaching staff are all really nice and easy to talk with. read more

My son is in infant care and I was having the hardest time leaving him everyday at 10 months old. The staff reassured me everyday that he would be alright and come to enjoy his days at school. He is now 14 months old and he goes to school everyday without a fuss. They are always staying on top of things that go on. This facility does not respond to email request or in person request. They give priority to Harbor UCLA hospital employees even if you are on the waiting list. I have been on the waiting list for over a year now. Have called, came in person as well, and spoke to employees regarding enrollment of my children and have not gotten a call back. read more

It's a great place if you just need childcare and convenience. BUT if you need a preschool you should look else where. They did a great job with their website and put a lot of work into their presentation but when it gets down to it, the Kindercare Learning Center lacks a lot. #1 The actual learning aspects (math, English, Spanish etc) are excluded from the weekly tuition and if you want them you must pay for each one weekly (about $25 each), and it will include (1) 15-30 minute lesson a day (or maybe 3/week). #2 The weekly tuition does not cover any snacks, breakfast or lunches. You can provide your own or pay another $25 a week to have an independent company deliver hot lunches (lunch only, drinks are additional $$$). #3 They aren't attentive to the children (preschool class) during potty time. I've seen kids walk outside on the play yard with their pants and panties still down because they need help wiping. My daughter has been potty trained for a year now and had an accident because nobody bothered making sure the children went to the potty before naptime. She woke up from her nap and ran to the potty but didnt make it on time. My 3 and half year old is well behaved and is independent for the most part but I find it unbelievable that my daughter didnt have lunch one day because the teacher didn't bother to look in her back pack. All the children have their lunch bags in a special section, but this was her second day of school, they didn't even bother to call us as if it was a concern. Before enrolling my daughter we informed the program director, several times of an upcoming trip that will pull my daughter out of school for approximately 10 days, well she never bothered to look at the dates we gave her or give is the vacation request form we're suppose to put in to give them notice. So during the time my daughter was out of town, the teachers "wondered" where she was at, and claimed they called us, I have their contact stored in my phone, I didn't get one phone call or a voicemail voicing these concerns. Then they claimed they neeeeeever recall discussing an up and coming trip, (she sho af didn't forget to tell me to pay for vacation weeks upfront!) They tried to charge for daycare for the day my daughter returned home but not to school. We never got the "first days report" on what our child was doing and the work she did. And they never had a fixed schedule. No matter what time I came there, the kids were outside and the teacher was often leaving and coming back at random times, nothing was consistent. I loved the key entry access, the cool summer activites and the fact that parents could come in and out whenever, but this was not a preschool, my daughter went from writing her name, numbers and actually learning every day to a arts and crafts project a day. Needless to say I will be finding an actual preschool. read more

My oldest daughter (now 8 years old) attended Harbor-UCLA Children's Center from 18 months old to 5 years old, and my younger daughter has attended from 4 months old. Her last day is this Friday (she just turned 5) and needless to say, we are a little sad to say goodbye. Most of the teachers at this facility have been there since our older daughter was there and have loved our children like a second set of parents. They would thaw frozen breast milk we brought for our youngest. We always felt they were safe and well taken care of while they were there. The facilities are nothing super fancy, but it always felt to us like an extension of our home. Kid's pictures on the walls, toys on shelves, a small but sturdy play structure out back and plenty of room to run around. Mostly, I would say we appreciated the small things: sunscreen put on before going outside, help with potty training (HUGE), snacks in the morning around drop off time (which helps a lot when a parent needs to get going!), 5 minutes late after 6 pm was generally never an issue. read more

This center was the solution to my great search for a trustworthy childcare center two years ago in the Summer of 2013. When my daughter turned three-and-a-half years old, I became aware that my only child needed more than what I was able to provide at home with adult-only interaction. I searched and read several reviews of daycare centers in the area and visited most of the ones with great reviews, including Harbor-UCLA KinderCare. Out of all the ones I visited, KinderCare impressed me the most. My daughter's eyes immediately lit up and started to mingle with the older children in Kindergarten as they were in class. Her reaction to the environment at the center conveyed to me that this was the place for her. After the tour of the Pre-Kinder class and Pre-School class, I was convinced that I needed to enroll my daughter here. Unfortunately, there were no openings at the time that I went, but when I got the call a few days later that an opening was available, I enrolled her right away. It has been an amazing experience witnessing my daughter's transformation and growth. The Pre-K curriculum last year enabled her to meet and overcome the new challenges that kindergarteners have. My wife and I were cheerful the fist time she was able to write her name well before kindergarten. My daughter's growth, by the end of the year in Pre-K convinced me to enroll her in the Kindergarten program. The 12 to 1, student to teacher ratio in the Kindergarten enable my daughter to grow to new levels I did not expected. I enjoyed every time my daughter demonstrated a new acquired skill. The daily homework did get overwhelming at times, but knowing she is well prepared for 1st grade brings me great hope for this coming school year as she will face greater challenges. Today it brings me an indescribable joy as I sit next to my daughter while she reads out loud "2nd grade" level books with little or no help from me. All I can say at this point is... my gratitude is incalculable for what Harbor-UCLA KinderCare has done for my princess. read more

My 3 year old son attended this center for about 2 weeks.It was really bad. He didnt like it at all. The first day he stood fine without crying or screaming. But on the second morning when I dropped him off he was crying and screaming very hard. It was terrible. I knew something was wrong because before he attended this center he was at the YMCA in Gardena which I had no problem droping him off there. He stood calm and okay. It was my biggest mistake taking him out of the Y and taking him to Harbor UCLA Childrens Center in Torrance. I noticed he was really afraid of the teacher. He would tell me the teacher was very mean. I complaint with the director there but it seems like nothing was done. No investigation or anything. I had no choice but to take my son out of that center. Please do not enroll your children to this center. It is really bad there. He is now in Pre K at a Unified School and he is fine. He didnt cry. And he stood okay on his first day of school. read more
