ABSOLUTELY DO NOT STAY AT THIS BLACK MOLD INFESTED HOTEL. This hotel is the very definition of…read moreputting lipstick on a pig. Back in September of 2024 room 321 was infested with mold so badly it needed to have been attended to by professionals. The owner of this IHG hotel claimed it on his insurance and then had their maintenance staff go in with mops and a product called Gel Pro and get the mold off the walls, then just paint over the surfaces. People have no idea they are breathing in Black mold spores floating throughout this hotel. Sure everything looks clean on the surfaces but that's only because they cover up the mold as it presents in each room with painting. They also have two illegal immigrants LIVING and working in the hotel being paid under the table while the other housekeepers are getting paid next to nothing. Housekeepers are expected to wear uniforms but the 2 illegals that live in the hotel, do not and the rules don't apply to them. When the housekeepers wanted a raise the "second in command" Cindy King told the supervisor at the time that the housekeepers will only appreciate the raise on their first paycheck after. The management is awful to the staff and if you don't conform to their every whim they will dismiss you without a legal reason. Back in September 2 housekeepers filed discrimination complaints that the owner of the hotel, 2nd in command Cindy King and 3rd in command John were all aware of, they fired them due to it. Also a supervisor was let go after disclosing a disability only 3 days later via text message. (there is noted documentation) Do not support this hotel and do not put yourself at a health risk staying here for any amount of time. The picture added below is from Room 321. Other rooms that have had issues include 412,414, 416, 323, 209, 409,309, 107 and the list goes on. They will also have a list of excuses degrading those that have spoken out about the mistreatment of staff and the black mold issues at this hotel so just be prepared.

    The Lighthouse At Kure Beach

We stayed at The Lighthouse at Kure Beach for four nights in mid October. I like going to the beach…read morein the off season. The weather is still nice enough to enjoy the beach, the hotel deck and the pier. In narrowing down where we wanted to stay, it came down to who we are as vacationers. Even when at the beach we tend to spend quite a bit of time in our hotel, so it's more than just a bed to sleep in between activities, we want it to be comfortable and nice. The Lighthouse was perfect because it's just been renovated, is as close as you can get to the water, and depending on what room you choose, you can have an overview of the ocean. We chose the Grandview, and it was. I will mention there are residential homes right next to it but that was fine by us. I would describe our room as a lovely studio apartment with a massive bathroom. There's a pretty full kitchen, mini fridge, table to eat at, couch and very comfy bed. Now, the bed is very close to the kitchen but again, it was fine. The decor is trendy, grays and minimal. The dividers on the deck are sort of like shipping pallets hung vertically so you can certainly hear your neighbors conversations if they are out there. We didn't find this too distracting, just of note. Almost everything you could need is provided - dishes, coffee, towels, cooking utensils, microwave and electric stovetop. I mostly used the wine glasses. The outside areas of the hotel are also lovely. Potted flowers, fresh mulch and palm trees decorate the outdoors. There's a shower on the first floor to wash off and sand acquired at the beach. Even in off season there are a few walkable restaurants and of course the pier with a gift shop. The contact with management/owner was very easy and professional. You get a parking pass so you don't have to worry about street parking. We were on the third floor and I don't believe there is an elevator, just of note.

And what makes this so crazy is the fact that this location was renovated about 5 years ago! I want to start with the good and talk about the people here. They do have great employees that are always kind and emphatic to you, but must not have any control over the condition of the hotel. They do have a market like most Marriott properties where you can buy frozen food, drinks, and snacks, and have a continental breakfast every morning with eggs, some sort of meat, yogurt, waffles, bagels, cereal, and usually either hash brown patties or biscuits. Each room comes with the basics. A TV, bathroom, closet, window, etc.. There are no balconies in any of the rooms. Last time I was here, the shower drain was stopped up and ended up flooding my bathroom a bit. This time, NONE of the room keys could open ANY of the room doors, meaning that no one could get into their room. The ONLY thing that they had was a little key fob that they used to get people in their rooms. Meaning that the employee working at the front desk had to go with the resident to their room to open their room for them. That is ridiculous. And there have been issues before that, but these are the two recent ones. I would not recommend staying at this property.

Very nice, and Bravo to those who instilled and trained everyone. It shows. It is a nice, new hotel so everything functions correctly. Keep up the great work!
