I was greeted at the front desk and the ladies were extremely polite and helpful I completed my forms and was escorted to the back dental area by Kayla the dental assistant. Aboslutely awful practice, I experienced complete incompetence. Fancy office, terrible everything else. New patient appointment was hard to schedule and they refused to do anything at first appt except for xrays and a "consult" - not even a cleaning!! The xrays taken were bad ones too - my new/better dentist called them "shadowy" and said they were very poor quality. I wasted time filling out forms via their website that they couldn't seem to access, had to redo them on an Ipad that froze up every other minute - so irritating. They also "forgot" about me in the waiting room on the return visit to get the cavities filled and cleaning, I had to wait an hour. The worst part was Dr. White. He caused me months of ongoing jaw pain by refusing to use a bite guard while filling my cavities despite my request for one and obvious pain. His assistant noticed and tried to offer the biteguard but Dr. White still refused, and he yelled at me when my mouth closed midfilling due to a completely cramped jaw. When Dr. White numbed my gum for the shot of painkiller, he had me laid down flat on my back so the numbing agent dripped down towards my throat and I felt like I was choking for several minutes. This was actually quite scary. He also uses the cheap painkillers - I could feel him drilling and when I indicated this instead of giving me more painkiller and continuing, he just quit his drilling and closed things up - very poorly at that. He didn't shake out the soft rot on any of the cavities. He fused two teeth together instead of using a ring to shape a filling on the side of a tooth, creating a food trap that drove me NUTS. All three fillings he did had to be redone by my new dentist - plus one of the three chipped almost immediately. He also brushed off a tooth I said was giving me pain as simply "sensitive teeth" and handed me a sample of Sensodyne. Too bad I found out 6 months later at my new dentists' office that a cavity in that tooth was clearly visible on the xrays Harborview sent to my new dentist, and the records sent from Harborview indicated no work had been done on that tooth, confirming my suspicion that this dentist is horribly negligent. I was never offered a flouride treatment either. One of the staff also gave me bruises on my arm while taking my blood pressure over and over again with a clearly broken machine, despite my telling her it hurt...all I got was attitude. Why they were taking my blood pressure AFTER filling my cavities and before doing a cleaning makes no sense, but was par for the course. To add insult to all these injuries, they also overcharged me. They had a list from the insurance company showing what they should have charged me, yet when I pointed out the overcharge, they accused me of "making things up" and played dumb. I had to get the insurance company to call and scold them. Then it took 10 months to get my money back while they insisted it was my bank's fault - no, they had processed the refund offline and it never went through. I told them this over and over (it was clearly on the receipt they sent me) but I had to jump through hoops and spend hours on countless calls before they finally admitted it was their fault once I threatened I would file a complaint with the state of MD. My advice is do not go near this dentist or practice unless you like to punish yourself. Huge mistake for me. Stay far away from this place. I've been in pain for the last 10 years as a result of uncessary procedures done here. Your teeth and wallet will thank you. I was a patient here from 2013-2017. I initially went for a root canal, which was done well so I thought I found my new dentist. Unfortunately, I was assigned to Dr.Waters. I had some reoccurring teeth pain in 4 upper molars. He recommended 2 new crowns and he wanted to redo a crown I had just done less than 6 months by my previous dentist and redo a filling. I was young (26), naive, and in pain. I brushed faithfully twice a day and floss. So, I believed him when he said the crowns would help. Mind you, I did tell him I clench my teeth at night. While being treated here and the years after, I've experience pain like I've never have before. I gave presentations at work where it caused me so much pain just to talk while pain radiated across my TMJ. I was in tears after the presentation. One of the crowns he did broke off. I live each day in regret and fear of the future of my teeth. I'm so scared I'll be forced into a partial denture before age 40 when the other crowns he placed fail. In hindsight, I probaby only needed a night guard for the pain from clenching. Please whatever you do, stay far away. Be prepared to be fed a scam if you do go. Getting crowns here is the biggest mistake of my life. It's forever scarred me, given me PTSD, and a fear of dentists. read more

the receptionist TANISHA, never gave me my prescriptions before my surgery on 11/22/22, when i got their that morning she asked me did you pick up your meds, I said you never gave me a prescription. she so call it in Kaiser. she never didn't..... I call the emergency number, no one call back for a whole week I didn't hear from anyone. this was Thanksgiving weekend. from Wednesday-the next Tuesday for my follow up appointment. when i got there and raise HELL now I'm the problem. Consistently horrible, customer service is non-existent. I cannot recommend anyone support this Dentist. Today I had an 1hr delay in starting the appointment, one hour late. This Dental office is a scam... a SCAM. I went to this office in 2012 when I moved into the neighborhood. The office is very nice aesthetically. The staff was ok. However, I am used to the dentist giving you x-rays and a cleaning along with the exam on your yearly visit. This dentist took X-rays and did the mouth inspection but did not clean my teeth. He then told me that in addition to my cavities, that I had a bad case of Gum Disease and printed out a loooooooong list of gum treatments that I would need to have that amounted to a lot of money (over a thousand dollars). On top of that, I asked about my cleaning and he said that would be on visit two. I found that to be strange. I found the whole thing unorthodox so I decided I would not be going back to this dentist. In fact, I waited a whole year to visit another dentist, who did a thorough exam and low and behold, no gum disease. I also went to an Oral Surgeon to have my wisdoms removed... he did a thorough exam and reviewed my x-rays and again.. no Gum disease. So my inklings about this place were right. Now since I visited this doctor I have been getting these statements that say 0 on them because it lists my insurance company as paying the fee. This has been since 2012... it is now April of 2015 and all of a sudden I get a BILL for $235.00 from this doctor's office... no explanation, nothing. Just a bill with a payment date. How convenient. My advice... STAY AWAY FROM HERE. It is conveniently located, but the "gum disease" scam is a thing that certain dental offices do and I have reason to believe that this office is doing the same based on my personal experience. Also, it is really unprofessional to send people bills THREE YEARS after service with no type of explanation. My experience here was very horrible. I HATE going to the dentist. But the employees at Harborview are excellent at what they do. They make you feel very comfortable. Dr. White is very good. He takes his time to explain things and gives you options. The hygienist made sure I was comfortable. I went for a routine cleaning and tooth extraction. The wait time was only about 5 minutes which is fast for any office visit. The extraction was quick and free of any complications. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because communication and efficiency between staff isn't as clear and thorough as it needs to be. read more

The front desk and billing staff is the ONLY thing good about this practice. The dentists are con artists and not thorough with their work. I will not recommend Harborview Dental Associates to anyone. I had an appointment to get an orthodontic consultation for my kid. In most offices, the initial ortho consultation includes records, photos, confirmation that the child would need braces, time length and price or estimate. In this office, there was only a confirmation that my child needed braces and then my second appointment would be photos, x-rays, fittings, and $485.00 for the record fee followed by the cost and length of treatment. I was not happy at all with that. I am a consumer and I appreciate how much I would have to pay upfront. This type of practice is price gouging and this company needs to be reported. I wasted my time and my son's school time (morning appointment) was a waste. I will submit several reviews online to ensure that customers are not trapped into paying endless prices for orthodontic treatment for their kids from this office. I have been to other orthodontic offices to shop for the best prices and care for my son's treatment, and this is the only office with bad practices (such as I will let you know how much it cost later). Then I was told that once I pay the $485.00 for the record fee and if I wanted to go to another orthodontic office for a better price, then I can take the records with me (completely false). Orthodontists will not accept records from other offices. The consumer usually leaves the office with an estimate or proposal from the initial consultation (did not happen). I will never come here again. Be up front. Consumers have the right to know how much they are paying for something before they sign their name on the dotted line. read more

I always seem to have to wait too long once I get in the chair. Too much joking going on among staff when clients are waiting for service. Communication not good when it comes to letting doctors know to check patient after hygienist finish. My doctor was on his way home. Hygienist left my mouth sore. She kept poking me with a sharp object into my gums. Mouth was sore for days. I did not like the sigh she gave at the end of the cleaning as if she had to do a lot of work and I was a bother. read more

I was happy to have had my filling replaced due to part of it breaking off. However the filling in this tooth was previously identified to be replaced as a result my initial examination during my first appointment and was included in my list of dental procedures Dr. Waters recommended that I have done. The fact that an additional charge 0f $79 for a two minute exam to confirm that part of the filling was missing when the entire filling was already identified to come out seemed unreasonable. First, let me start by pointing out the positives - this is a very nice dentist office. The location is great. It's near the Harbor so it will be interesting to see how the traffic picks up once the casino opens AND the holiday shoppers going to the outlets. It has plenty of parking and the staff is very kind and professional. I'm still sort of new to this office but was a little displeased with a recent appointment, as I had to spend an additional hour redoing images and impressions because the original ones couldn't be used or located. This now adds another 6 weeks to my treatment goals. Plus, defending why I should not have to pay "again" for a service that was previously done and had to be redone due to negligence on their part. Don't be swayed. The important thing is, they did the right and professional thing and satisfied the customer.
