The staff here is amazing. There was a communication error and it wound up costing more than $1600 (over the original estimate). Human error happens. My wife and I were inclined to go elsewhere because it exceeded our budget, but the doctor came out, professionally owned the error, and said he'd rather honor our time. He wound up honoring the price we understood and my wife was taken care of. As a husband that made me extremely happy and proud that we chose this dentist office. Love love love this place. My first time here and my first time back at the dental office in a long time (ashamed to say). But the staff from the front desk to the people in the back working on your teeth, FRIENDLY AND PROFESSIONAL! I came in for a routine cleaning. They were able to squeeze me in because of a cancellation otherwise I would have had to wait a month. They were that booked. I seized the opportunity. They analyzed my teeth, I needed a filling and was able to get that done the SAME DAY. I've been to several dentist in my life and this by far was the beat experience. Even the music was on point. I left with some goodies because of the YELP CHECK IN and a special thank you gift I wont mention. Parking is street parking and close to the metro. Highly recommend if looking for a great dental office! I recently moved to the area and needed to find a new dentist to look at my wisdom teeth. I was taken back for my appointment but at this point I was a little confused about the process of my appointment, as no one was telling me what was going to happen. However, Dr. Choi was amazing and came in to explain what would be happening and from then I felt more comfortable. I have been looking for a dentist in the area for awhile now and I am so glad I chose this place. The staff is very welcoming, accommodating, and friendly. Schedule was super easy online and I needed an emergency root canal and they were super flexible on getting me in as soon as possible. Dr. Kamran Tavakkoli performed my root canal and I had no issues what so ever, the pain was very minimal and he made my experience comfortable. I highly recommend NOVA DENTAL! Doctors, hygienists and receptionists do such a great job taking care of patients. I find it hard to find trustworthy dentists, but these doctors really do create an open and welcoming environment. they thoroughly explain in layman's terms if more work needs to be done with your teeth. They create a "no pressure" environment, which I think is different from other dentists when it comes to making decisions. The office is clean. New equipment and very modern facility on the third floor of the building. Making appointments is always easy and a flash. They also are good about giving you reminders for your six month check ups. Love the "goodie bags" after each check up: choice of toothbrush colors, sensodyne toothpaste, and woven fluoride floss. Gloria is my favorite hygienist. She remembers me every time too. I had a disastrous experience here. I went here for a crown in 2019. I walked in feeling great. When the procedure was over, I told the dentist that I had pain in the crown. She said give it a few days and the pain will go away. The pain continued. She said wait a few more days. This went on for months. The pain was 24/7 and awful. In fairness, she (and her partner) paid for me to see a periodontist and an endodontist and both of them said the crown looked fine. They also eventually removed the crown about 6 months later and credited me for the procedure. I eventually got a crown at another dental office. Over the next 2 years, the pain eventually morphed into a pattern where some days were awful, some days were annoying, and some days I was totally fine. In any case, I saw a specialist this month who told me I had a crack in my tooth (he could tell from the X-ray) and extracted the tooth. Based on my symptoms, I am 100% certain the dentist at Nova Dental Partners cracked the tooth while inserting the crown. In fairness, maybe it was a weak tooth and it would have cracked no matter who was doing the procedure. But that doesn't excuse her failure (and her partner's failure) to diagnose me after I told them I was still in pain after 6 months. They should have told me I likely had a cracked tooth and it needed to be extracted. They are the experts, not me. I'm relying on their expertise. Because of their failure, I later developed TMJ Dysfunction because of constant jaw clenching from the tooth pain - and that too has been a major burden in my life. At least the tooth pain is finally, finally gone (knock on wood). read more

I had my first cleaning here yesterday and I cannot stop talking about it, which is weird because people don't generally want to talk about their teeth. But here I am! It is easy to see why this practice is so highly rated. I easily scheduled an appointment with the receptionist staff and they were so helpful in getting all my information down and running it in advance of my visit. It sounds like a run of the mill thing, but if you're like me and your insurance provider is paperless and you forget to print a temporary card, it changes your whole day. Now I hate to admit it, I hadn't been to a dentist in awhile. I moved to the area, had issues with insurance, and had generally been putting it off for at least the last year. Nicole, my hygienist, was not judgmental at all, and just cracked some jokes with me and got to work. I cannot explain how incredibly professional and personable Nicole was, it totally changed my opinion of cleanings. Dr. Tavakkoli was wonderful and hilarious. I can't say enough good things about this practice and about (really both!) Doctor Tavakkolis. I've been going here since 2014 and recommend Dr. Tavakkoli and Nova Dental Partners to all my friends. I was experiencing a number of painful issues with my mouth that naturally struck as soon as stay-at-home and quarantine began. But Dr. Kamran Tavakkoli took time on the phone with me to discuss concerns about a particular area of recession and tenderness. Then when I could come in, he took so much time to address each and every issue -- Invisalign, recession, bone strength, trouble eating, dental bonding, etc. He calmed all my anxieties and put me at ease, addressing important issues while reassuring me that issues I thought were a big deal really weren't. The staff has been so very accommodating to me! I was in a hurry to get some medical paperwork done before leaving the country and Dr. Tavakkoli noticed I was also in need of a new crown on my tooth. I had been struggling with getting this crown redone for some time but didn't trust that a doctor would do it correctly because of my unfortunate experience the first two times. After talking with him more and other staff, I agreed to come in to have to replaced. Not only did Dr. Tavakkoli do it in a timely matter, he also took his time to make sure the color matched beautifully and helped me get the perfect retainer to close a small gap that developed while I was in between teeth :) I would HIGHLY recommend this location to anyone in need of a simple cleaning to a more complicated procedure. If you're looking for a dentist in the Old Town Alexandria area, Nova Dental Partners would be an excellent choice. It is in walking distance from the King Street Metro (yellow and blue lines), and there is plenty of street parking as well. It's close to the downtown Old Town area so it would be easy to check out some shops or restaurants after your appointment! The front staff is always so friendly and helpful. Paige helped me out today and she was very kind and efficient. It is also easy to schedule appointments over the phone (though they do fill up quickly so I would recommend scheduling your appointments ASAP!) This was my second time here and every time I have had a great experience. I started off with Kate, who was so sweet. She cleaned and polished my teeth and gave me some great tips on how to keep my gums and teeth healthy. She was quick yet very gentle- it was all very painless and my teeth feel so clean now! She was great at small talk and made me feel welcome and comfortable the entire time. Then, Pat helped me out and I did a Flouride rinse to help prevent cavities since I am very prone to them. They have two flavors- mint and berry. I've gone with mint each time. You just have to swish around the liquid for a minute. No rinsing afterwards. This is usually just done for kids so I did have a $39 co-pay, which is worth it if it keeps the cavities away! Finally, Dr. Tavakkoli came around for a final check up- he looked at my scans and charts and then took a look at all my teeth. He noticed two old fillings from childhood that need to be replaced so I will be back to get that done in a month. There are two dentists here and they are brothers. I have met both now and they are both very nice. I haven't had any major procedures done yet but will update my review when I do. Overall, a 5 star dentist experience! They have a spacious waiting room and even have little water bottles in a mini fridge. I barely had to wait and everything only took about half an hour. I felt taken care of and never felt like anyone was ever in a rush. They take great care here and are meticulous about quality work. I would highly recomend this dental practice! read more

This place was pretty great. Everyone was friendly and professional, and everything was extremely clean. Not only did I get the standard goody bag of floss and such, but because I was a first time patient I also got a fancy electrical toothbrush. There were a few follow up things suggested, but nobody was pushy about getting anything done. Clean office, great location, friendly receptionists and hygienists. Why 1 star? The dentist I saw almost immediately recommended expensive orthodontia work without giving much of an explanation. I've been to a fair share of other dentists and have never been told I need orthodontia work in my adult life. Just seemed like they are trying to push Invisalign. He also wanted to refill some fillings even though they are fine and not causing pain or other issues. These two things raised a red flag so I will not return. read more

I have been going to Drs. Tavakkoli for years--I started at Richmond Hwy location when I lived in Fort Belvoir. I've referred at least 3-4 of my friends to the Drs as well. They are twin brothers (and I believe a new guy has joined the practice) so I can't say I can tell which of the twin doctors I see more often but I have never had any issues with either. Also, the receptionist often call me by name and the hygienist are always gentle AND thorough (yes, it's possible) with my cleanings. My husband and I relocated from Atlanta to DMV and had a difficult time finding a dentist due to our busy schedules, well to our surprise, this office starts taking patients st 7am!!! I was impressed when I saw how clean the facility is and that they use the latest technology available to better serve their patients.
