Fun, Informative, and Totally Worth It!…read more The Halifax Harbour Hopper Tour was another highlight of our trip--and definitely worth the money. It's such a fun and unique way to explore the city! You start on land, taking in historic landmarks and beautiful views, then splash right into the harbour as the vehicle transforms into a boat. It's a cool experience whether you're a first-time visitor or a local looking to see the city from a new perspective. Our tour guide, Adina, was fantastic--full of energy, super knowledgeable, and made the whole ride engaging and fun. Big shoutout to Captain Geoff as well for the smooth and safe ride! We learned so much about the history of Halifax while also having a great time. Highly recommend this tour if you're looking for something a little different that mixes sightseeing with storytelling.

It was so windy and rough that you could not hear anything they said nor could you see out of the glass due to the water splashing up on the boats windows. While I understand they have no control over the weather, I feel they should have canceled the trip and refunded our money and we could have found something else to do that we would have enjoyed.

If you ARE from the Maritimes, another coastal equivalent, or a band of scurvy-ridden pirates, you're probably well aware of the value of a day out on the water with a fully stocked bar slash the need for a first mate who doesn't know the meaning of 'mutiny'. The Tall Ship Silva is a local standard on the gorgeous Halifax waterfront, bringing regular boatloads of tourists and locals alike through tours of the habour, the Bedford Basin, and even the luxurious backyards of the houses on the North West Arm. That last one sounds creepy 'cause it kinda is. The Silva is roomy enough for a large crowd including a little jam space for a small band (if your party brought one along or booked them) and rocking out to Barrett's Privateers and Great Big Sea covers. A small room with a bar has comfortable bank seating for those who don't quite have their sea legs or weren't told that they probably shouldn't try to rock heels while soaring the high seas. Plus it has all the booze - you'll want to make note of this. The larger downstairs dining room is pretty basic but can be fully decked out with custom meal menus and catering for longer treks and can be particularly useful as one of two covered rooms (the bar is the other) for those times when the weather makes you want to just throw yourself overboard to put yourself out of your misery. Based on what they do and how they do it, the Silva definitely earns its four stars from me. The only thing is that your experience entirely depends on who goes with you, and how the weather is while you're out. If you can't nail down at least one of these two, you're probably not going to love it. Otherwise, it's a great venue for theme, office, or fundraiser parties!

I haven't tried the other ghost walk (http://yelp.ca/biz/halifax-ghost-walk-halifax) and perhaps that is a bit scarier but this is a fascinating journey through the city that I thought I knew. The guide, Andy Smith, takes you on a gentle amble through Halifax, highlighting points of history I never even knew! Not a big fan of walking Halifax's many hills? It's pretty much all downhill walking. Intentionally. The route is designed so that you're basically working your way from the Citadel (http://www.yelp.ca/biz/citadel-hill-halifax-2) to the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic (http://www.yelp.ca/biz/maritime-museum-of-the-atlantic-halifax). It makes for a surprisingly good date activity and would probably be fun in a group.

Andy was a good tour-guide, and did a good job engaging with the audience. You can tell he's been doing this for a long time, which is both good and bad (sometimes it feels a little forced).
